I have no issues with iPhone X updated to iOS 12.0.1. Your problem is probably not related to gambling, and you can easily find advice on sites dedicated to iPhone technology such as this one:

So, iPhone people, what is this person telling us?
When I was an air traffic controller, I was giving OJT to a first-time trainee in about 2007. He plugged in. I plugged in next to him, in the override jack.
I said, "You're hot." He, being a handsome young man, said "Thank you!" and smiled. And sat there. I said, "No. You're hot. Your mic is stuck and you're broadcasting, blocking the frequency." He had the grace to turn a bit red as he grabbed his pickle (no, not that one, the belt-clipped mic control where the switch can be locked open- it's shaped like a black pickle) and fixed it.
So, I took this as a warning of a bug in the new ios - that your mic and/or camera were locked/default into broadcast mode on the upgrade. Is that what it is, or is it some kind of weird, vague Apple spam? Can someone who has the iPhone tell me? RS or littlered, maybe - you both seem to have the weird unsupported fonts.
See the little slotted dot below the mic button? That can be turned with a screwdriver to make the button lockable, or in the other position to make it release but, with a specific move, lock down, comparable to single-action or double - action trigger. For who knows what reason, the factory ships them in the locking configuration.

No idea why he posted it here, but AIUI, he means 'hot' as emitting heat for no reason and depleting the battery quickly.

Ok, that makes sense. If your phone is physically hot, that's not good for a lot of reasons. I wouldn't have guessed that was a software problem, though. Thought that was always a battery issue. So fair warning, that the workload on the CPU could cause overheating.
FWIW, I added a picture of the pickle and captioned it, after you replied, if you're interested in a visual.

Also, batteries have an inherent instability at high temperatures - because they leak more current across their voltage barriers as temperature increases, thus creating more heat -which leads to even higher temperature and even more leakage.
Many automotive batteries are not rated to operate above 130 F for that reason.
Of course, LED lights tend to fail in that temperature range as well.

I'm still mad that the iPhone X doesn't have the left/right arrows on the keyboard. Those things were the absolute best, because it made it super easy to edit text without having to either backspace stuff or dragging your finger to the exact spot. With the arrows (same functionality as on a regular keyboard, except no up/down), it made it so that if you wanted to fix something, you could just tap your finger near the word and arrow appropriately to the word you wanted to fix.
It also made some things very simple, like if I wanted to send someone a PM, I could just click on anyone's username, get brought to their profile, use the right arrow to go to the far right of the URL bar, do a left arrow, backspace the other person's name out of the URL, then type in the person whom I wanted to send a message to, hit enter, and go to that person's page.
In comparison, without having the arrows, I have to click on a person's name and then the URL bar at the top -- so far, nothing's changed. But then to get to the far right of the URL text, I have to basically 'drag' the text to the left so that the end of the URL shows up. Then I either have to tap at the very end of the URL after, for instance, /member/beachbumbabs/, then backspace the last forward slash, the rest of the person's name, type in new person's name, finish it with a forward slash, then hit enter. I don't have particularly fat fingers, but it can be difficult sometimes to tap exactly where I want to, and it makes the whole process just a little longer and annoying.
I much prefer using shortcut methods instead of doing something like tapping on a screen or using a mouse -- I'd rather use keyboard shortcuts like doing Ctrl+T for a new page on chrome, Ctrl+Shift+Left-Arrow to highlight a chunk of text, etc. instead of using a dreaded mouse.
As far as phone being hot, I haven't experienced anything like that. Occasionally my Android will get super hot, but I have no idea why that happens. Thing burns like a biznitch, as some call it, when that happens. I'm going to conclusively label this "iPhone hot" thing as #FakeNews.
