I live in Des Plaines IL but I am the vpfree2 monitor for the Majestic Star in Gary IN.
If you are looking for gambling conditions they are as follows:
All houses are legitimate RNGs on electronic products.
Majestic Star is basically the best Video Poker house in the area at 25c or 50c. (Probably $1 too.)
Blackjack rules in the Chicago Area are usually six decks (some eight deck) with some continuous shufflers but mostly automatic shufflers.
BJ 3-2 (except 6-5 at the low limit table at Hollywood Joliet) Hit S17, Double any two, DAS (Ameristar may not allow this), resplit up to 4 hands (except aces), no surrender. Majestic Star has a two deck game with poorish rules: Hit S17, Double 10 or 11 only, NO DAS, No split of Aces, no surrender.
Texas Hold Em bonus: Rivers (Des Plaines IL) and Horseshoe (Hammond IN) pay the ante on a straight. others do not.
Craps: All at least 10 times odds. (I think Horseshoe may still be 100x)
Slots: not great with low end video holding 12%+. Probably slightly better in IL (except Rivers) on higher denoms.
All the area casinos are very stingy on comps.

I see casino killer mention it and I forgot to. If you play BJ, definitely shop dealers to look for better penetration. You will see some 5+ deck at 6 deck games.
The 2 deck at the Majestic Star penetrates just over 1 deck.
