I hope this test comes out successful. I'm an AP myself and would prefer this technology to exist in only the biggest casinos with already garbage BJ rules. Feel free to discuss your thoughts below
Advantage Players will outsmart the AI and probably come out better.Quote: richodudeRecently, I was shown a new surveillance software that uses machine learning to track human activities. This means the software is constantly learning from itself (with human input) to get better. This information is not exactly private since anyone who wanted to see a demo could. This software is very new and right now promises to catch past-posters (cheaters), fights, falls, and any other notable human action. With what accuracy this software is successful will be found out soon. Testing will be implemented at the Circa downtown in the near future. Eventually, the hope is to get the cameras and software accurate enough to determine things like exact bets, advantage players, and facial recognition. The average Vegas casino has 6 surveillance workers and 5500 cameras at a given time. This software promises to watch every camera concurrently and determine issues faster and more accurately than humans. This does not mean a complete removal of humans though. The hope is for the software to automatically ping the necessary person (shift manager, security, pit boss, depending on the problem) who can then determine the severity of the problem, now knowing there is one. This new software also serves as a big package deal for security measures. No longer will you need RFID cheques or some other expensive software to track card counters or facial recognition. For the average person, this software will change nothing, and possibly get them help faster if needed. For the cheater or AP, you will have a tougher time. Cheaters will be caught instantly which can allow surveillance to watch to see if the dealer is in on it as well. The casino will get that money back so why not kick back and watch? Counters will be caught within a shoe and promptly be backed off.

The only way to eliminate AP is to eliminate +EV.

I totally agree.
One thing that isn't recognized by AI proponents is that AI learns from human activity (as mentioned above). It has to be taught to look for AP and what that AP looks like and then it has to observe it to learn it.
In other words no different than today's casino management and workers who have no clue. Just that AI learns at a faster rate.
In the end I predict casinos will heavily rely on AI and AP's will take advantage of that. Similar to how that guy took advantage of the infallible video surveillance when doing the Savanah move at roulette.
Unless Ai notifies mgmt that it's a rampant problem faster than the handful of guys in the surveillance room could identify?
(ie: Borgata should have cracked down waaaay sooner than recently)
Time to buy Halloween masks. lol

There's nothing that AI can do that regular staff can't already do as fast with multicarding IMO.
As for vulturing it's probably easier to identify than you think assuming most vultures (I have observed) use their players cards for comps.
That's because vulturing behavior is extremely easy to identify if an AI wanted to. Primarily does a patron gamble nearly every day but only play XYZ slots and only one or a few spins, then quit and come back to the same slot half an hour later for one or a few spins ad nauseam.
That's not normal player behavior.

It's good to mention also that the main programmer in this project allegedly does not know how to play blackjack, let alone know how to catch a card counter. He is very good at the programming side of things though. It will be interesting to find out how they train the software. I don't exactly know of any AP willing to play blackjack for free (or a small wage) in order to train the software and there won't be much data in the field.
Possibly a few camouflage bets here and there will be enough to throw the computer off or maybe a non-HiLo system will easily squeak by
Like i said, Ai would speed up the process of identifying when machine checkers become too rampantQuote: darkozQuote: 100xOddsI can see Ai being a problem for multi-carders but not for machine checkers. They're not doing anything wrong.

A.I. is not required to catch AP's. Table games are easy to catch AP's, slots much harder. Smart multi-carders probably the hardest as long as the player is smart enough to cash out or run the credits to zero before switching cards. If one switches cards with credits on the machine that would be a big red flag to me.
