He is one of the few in the guild of gaming mathematicians and I am proud to call him a friend.
You can see on the felt the Trip bet followed the 3-4-7-8-30-40-50 pay table, which most casinos use. This has a house edge of 3.50%. For a side bet, that ain't bad, but it's significantly worse than the base game. It's even about twice as high as 6-5 blackjack.
