Short memory you have.
You forgot how the fight in Congress over corporate liability issues delayed the federal Covid relief and stimulus packages.
The Republicans wanted liability protections and the Democrats didn't.

That has nothing to do with this. Insurance companies sold business interruption insurance that had glaring exceptions and hid those exceptions. Business people who thought they were doing the right thing for their families and employees ended up not having the protection they thought they were paying for.

More importantly, this subject has nothing to do with the new rules for Nevada reopening or whether or not you agree with the new rules that will allow buffets to reopen.
Why cant some people stick to the subject?

It has a lot to do with it. Without the insurance payouts, many businesses will not reopen. My BIL's limo business owes almost a quarter-million dollars on leases and was shut down for over eight months. He'd paid business interruption insurance but has gotten a small fraction of what he expected. Multiply that by tens of thousands and you begin to understand the enormity of the situation.

What about this Clark County plan to reopen buffets with self service utensils handled by the patrons?
I imagined that when buffets did reopen the buffets would be required to have servers or prepared plates that patrons could take.
I never imagined true self service would return so soon even if half of adults are fully or partially vaccinated.
Good. Let’s get back to normal. People aren’t going to catch Covid from touching a serving spoon.
I ate at the South Point buffet twice post-reopening and it’s just not the same having to have them dish everything up for you.

Thank you for sticking to the subject.
At Caesars many of the buffet items were on prepared plates (you took the plates to your table) or the items were served to you.
I have no problem with that.
Also adding more servers would create a few more jobs. I'd pay an extra buck for that also.

Hijacking. Considering prior history, one month suspension.

Can’t agree more! When I go to a buffet I sometimes might try one mushroom, or the tiniest portion of fish, then decide if I like it. On a second trip I portion size appropriately knowing what I liked the most.

Under the Clark County reopening plan (you should all read it, it's online) supermarkets can resume sampling stations. I guess this really refers to Costco.
So perhaps in your case, the server will let you sample the fish on a toothpick.
Anything to keep you guys happy... since adjusting is too much of a burden.
But frankly how did you get the tiniest portion of fish before? I only remember servings pre sliced? Did you rip one of those servings apart just to sample it?
Calm down dudes, there is enough lukewarm pizza to go around!

Not sure why I am responding to your trolling post.... but my favorite buffet in Vegas is Makino. They have sashimi as a choice.... which (saving you a Google) is small pieces of raw fish. It is quite easy to take one small piece.
As far as adjusting.... what would possibly make you think I’m not adjusting? I adjust quite easily to the constraints that society throws my way. Adjusting doesn’t mean liking it, or thinking it makes any sense.
Next time say sushi.

Next time, do research. Sushi and sashimi are two different things.

You may be right.
But this post takes the cake for me. I see that there is more nitpicking and derailing and hijacking of threads here than there are targeted discussions.
So to quote a phrase from my favorite TV show (Shark Tank), I'm out.
Argue all you want about side issues. Nitpick all you want. Stuff in your political agendas into every discussion all you want. Just carry on. But without me.
I'll stick to discussions about gaming and casinos, hopefully with others who don't need to discuss sashimi, politics and how big their keystrokes are.
You win.
from a disinterested third party observer it’s pretty clear you started the nitpicking.Quote: AlanMendelsonYou may be right.

Quote: AlanMendelsonNevada Governor Sisolak says the goal is to have a 100% reopening of the State by June 1st. This may also mean an end of limits and controls on casinos but it would be up to the Gaming Commission. The NGC says employee vaccinations will determine what limitations remain.
Would it also mean an end to the plastic barriers?
But masks might still be with us.
Isn't it obvious from this post that the discussion is only allowed to be about buffets?

Alan was upset after he started to bet the yo on the 19th roll........
Back to the topic...... I do take very small samples at a buffet...... there are many options that allow such..... I won't rip a small piece off a slice of pizza, for example, but for me the fun of a buffet is trying lots of stuff, and then figuring out what I want to fill up on. I think there are many customers that like buffets for the same reason.
I am hereby apologizing to Alan. He is one of my heroes, actually, in that he actually got married at a craps table.
Quote: billryanThey should move it to the Sam Boyd Stadium/Silver Bowl park.
Why, wouldn't that be so much smaller?
Quote: DRichWhy, wouldn't that be so much smaller?
I don't think so, and it would be less intrusive. The Silver Bowl runs six or seven rugby games at the same time, so its at least seven football fields wide. Lots of parkland and lots of parking.

My guess is they like a more closed in environment with less ingress and egress.
How would that be less intrusive? EDC is huge and already located decently far from town up at the Speedway. Boyd/Silver Bowl would be much worse and too small for the full festival, plus would cause horrible traffic on local streets.Quote: billryanI don't think so, and it would be less intrusive. How huge? From Wikipedia:
Quote:In 2009, EDC became a two-day event, and in 2011, a three-day event that drew 230,000 people. In 2015, it drew more than 400,000 over three days (134,000 per day).[6][7][8] In 2018, EDC Las Vegas expanded the festival to include an on-site camping experience. Recent iterations of the festival have featured eight stages, each with a unique set and specific genre of EDM.[9] 18 carnival rides, four ferris wheels, and a staff of more than 5,000 people make up the event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway
