Thread Rating:
as you already noticed by the painstakingly slow forums in the past several weeks, we have had multiple issues that got tackled one at a time.
1. DDoS isssue was obviously out of our hands and as the old host was the target and not us. This lasted for about a week + and during this time we were preparing to migrate to amazon servers.
2. Once We moved over to Amazon, the site's speed got back to normal. But that did not last for too long as we encountered another issue related to our SSL certificate that was not setup properly, which then started causing the serious lag. It took us few days to actually track down this problem and additional few days to fix it.
3. The phase 3 is the current phase, where we are working on making further speed improvements and better optimization of the site in order to additionally reduce page response time ( this mostly pertains to the main forum page which was the biggest problem ). Also, since some of the information on WoV is being fed by WoO which was causing lag at times, we will be looking into finding more permanent solution for this too.
As you can tell the site is much quicker now, and pretty much back in the state it was in prior all this. But I stress again we are working on making further improvements.
thanks for your understanding and patience

For the record, I rarely ever look at that page. I (and I presume many members) have a bookmark for https://wizardofvegas.com/recent/ and use that as an entry point.Quote: Zuga... (this mostly pertains to the main forum page which was the biggest problem ) ...
When I experienced delays, it was usually on that page, and usually if I hadn't been on the site for a few hours. Also note that I never log off.
Quote: DJTeddyBearThanks for the update as well as for the work involved.

If you do work on that page (/recent/), please don't destroy its functionality. It is the main entry point that I also use for the forum.
Thanks for the update. Yes, response time has improved dramatically in the last day or so. I learn a lot from visiting this site and greatly appreciate your getting it back to being usable.
Thanks for all the hard work and the responsiveness from you and the webmasters. Really appreciate you keeping us going despite the hurdles.

I wish to confirm that the problem reported by RS also is showing up on my Android phone. I had not noticed it until reading his post and giving it a try.

Same here.
I concur with Mikey75 (and others) that speed has increased significantly. In case anyone is looking into this problem (?) that some of us Android users have observed with the Menu button, I thought I would provide one more piece of info. RS reported that touching the Menu button (the word Menu with triple bars beside it) to go to an alleged menu just added a # to the url. I just noticed that at the same time the word "Menu" next to the triple bars becomes dimmed. I have no idea what that means or whether it is significant.Quote: Dalex64Same here.
But on my iPhone, I get a functioning pop up menu.
Seems to be inconsistent between users. Perhaps it would be helpful if those of us seeing (or not seeing) problems were to report what we are using.Quote: IbeatyouracesWorks fine on my Android.
RS reported: "Android 7.1.1, NEXUS 5 using Google Chrome version 61.0.3163.98"
I am using Android 7.0.0 on a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 (aka XT1585) with the same Chrome version 61.0.3163.98. What is your Android setup that is working properly, Ibeatyouraces?
Quote: DJTeddyBearUnrelated: the search function is a full google search. It should be limited to WoO.
That's been that way forever. And I completely agree it should ONLY be WoO/V related.
I also would like the search to only apply to the forum.
I meant to say it should be limited to WoVQuote: IbeatyouracesThat's been that way forever. And I completely agree it should ONLY be WoO/V related.
Quote: RSWhile we're reporting bugs and whatnot, my phone doesn't do nothing when I hit the "MENU" button at top right of page. All that happens is the URL is amended to have a # at the end.

I have had the same problem for abut a week or 10 days. However, it usually occurs when I'm using my PM mail in some way. If I close and reopen the site (my default is main forum page), the menu drop-down works properly again, until the next time I navigate away from the threads. Rinse and repeat.
Note3, android on Google chrome.
It's really weird that this forum uses non-standard BB codes. Every other forum on the internet uses this syntax:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBCode
Most notably:
This for links, forum uses
[l.ink=URL]anchor_text
[u.rl=URL]anchor_text
And for images, this forum uses
[im.g= URL]
[img]url[/img]
The syntax I linked is super standard for forums. Even the copy/paste codes that image hosting services provide use the standard syntax. Lists and tables are different too. Some are standard though, which leaves me guessing all the time what syntax to use. Very confusing for those acclimated to standard forum software.
