You know I'm a numbers kind of guy so here are some recent WoV statistics for you, courtesy of JB.

Total members: 11,009 (this would include banned & duplicate members)
Total "active" members: 6,548 (this is the number of accounts that have made a post at any time, and again includes banned & duplicate accounts)
Total threads: 24,285 (including deleted threads that were spam)
Total posts: 498,688 (including all deleted/hidden posts that were spam, etc)
Total blog posts: 1,307

Almost half a million posts! What shall we do to celebrate?

The question for the poll, is what do you think of the WoV forum?

Its a great forum here but kind of a narrow subject
I actually post more at DT then here
I find the variety of subjects over at DT more interesting
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

I love this forum. I think the knowledge share here is fantastic (I've learned a lot), the moderation well done, and the topics generally on point. Of course it appeals to me because of my interest in gaming related topics and sports (and thus by extension, sports wagering).

I appreciate the Las Vegas and gambling centric conversation as it is more fact and statistically driven as opposed to boards that discuss more abstract and opinion driven topics such as religion, politics, world conflict, etc. At the risk of being called shallow, I just don't have as much interest in discussing those type of topics as much as those that make up the majority of the content here.

I'm glad you were able to monetize this site, yet still be very involved in the operations. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations to the Wiz and current owners on the upcoming forum milestone! WoV and WoO are the best resources I have found on the 'net for accurate and unbiased info on all things Vegas and/or gambling.

After a little deliberation, I voted for "love the forum." "Infested" was just too strong a word for me! ;)

It's pretty okay I guess. It's infested with bigots, but they seem like nice bigots.

When it comes to gambling or gaming (not just AP), Vegas, and other, it's by far the best.

Want to hear more criticism? :)

I voted 'moderated too tightly', because that was the closest choice to my feelings. What I really think is that there is some favoritism, some get away with more or have a longer leash. And that there is some inconsistency among moderators and even with the same moderator. That sends confusing signals.

I also think that there is sometimes a cumulative effect to certain actions or responses. For example someone may say some thing that is permitted a number of times, but then all of the sudden says the same thing or type of thing and action is taken. Some people do have the effect of wearing you down, but without at least a warning, how is one to know that what was ok yesterday or last week, isn't ok today.

Despite a few criticisms, I (mostly) enjoy participating here in both blackjack related threads that are my main interest as well as some off topics. I give WoV a B minus.

Thank you wizard for starting this. I bet you have saved people tens of thousands with your effort. I am glad that it has paid off for you.

As for the poll. It is a tough decision because I do love the forum but at times it is moderated to tight. Some fights start over the moderation but I am sure there would be many more if not for it.

I don't post as much or as often as I used to, but that's my own problem and not a reflection on how much I love this site.

I'm still here several times per day, reading and/or lurking.

BTW: Love this site!

I think this is perhaps the best true gambling forum out there. Some tend to be more player-centric, some tend to be more employee-centric. I like this forum because there is active dialogue from people playing the felt, and people standing behind it. It gives me a great perspective of gaming from all different angles.

Many of the math subjects are above my head, and even though I took 3 stats classes in college, I have forgotten much of what I have learned in those classes because I am quite frankly, out of practice, but they do provide valuable insights.

While I have never been more that a recreational gambler, I do like to hear from people who do this for their primary source of income, and read about what they look for at a table or what to do in certain situations.

At the risk of being the skunk at the party: The value of numbers, if any, is of course dependent on the judgement of one choosing and assessing the relative significance of them, which is a non-numeric sort of task. Here's a number: A million. That's a big number. Or an infinitesimal one. Or neither.

Hmmm.

Here is something with the number one-hundred twenty-seven million, four-hundred seventy-nine thousand, two-hundred and thirty-five (and counting - not including many spinoffs) attached to it. It must be really important. Or perhaps not:

Can anybody point to two people who will always agree on everything? Or how about just one person who is totally without favoritism?
