The 2015 Global Gaming Expo (G2E) is upon us. The expo days this year are Sep 29 to Oct 1, which are a Tuesday to Thursday, as usual. Same venue -- the Sands convention center.

Tradition has it that we meet up after the show on Wednesday at I Love Burgers at the Palazzo. I think we've done this three or four years in a row now and I see no reason to change. However, as a formality, I'll open up the poll to the day and accept all suggestions for a change of venue below, as I don't want to come off as a dictator. However, my personal preference is to stick with tradition and to not fix what isn't broken.

Also, if anybody has a booth at the show, feel free to announce it. Last year I lots of us paid Ahigh a visit at his booth.

As of this writing Wednesday is getting 80% of the Tue-Thur vote. I motion we set Wednesday, 9/30/15, as the official date. Who will second the motion?

I agree, but some argue that he is only a commander, as evidenced by the three bars on his sleeve. There was some discussion about it at DT: Is it Captain or Commander Crunch?.

On DT somebody said that on a smaller boat a commander said that a captain can be the one in charge of smaller boat. In that case, how would that person be referred to as?

Captain or Skipper. It also can be of a lower rank also. Some small boats are even manned by enlisted crew only.

Probably around six at i♥burgers. The show closes at five and it usually takes everybody about an hour or so to make their way over there. (The blackjack and craps tables in the Palazzo can be tempting.)

Yes, I will be there this year. If win the trivia contest, can I name it after myself a la The Grosjean Cup? :)

I'd like to remind everyone that the 2015 WoV Fall Classic meetup is tomorrow (Sep. 30) starting at 5:00 until about 8:00 at I Love Burgers in the Palazzo. To be following by some gambling. My vote will be tiles but I can be outvoted. There is also a possibility Miplet will attempt to go UP the Treasure Island downward escalator.

Meetup was a lot of fun. Cool to meet some of the posters on this forum.

I know a few pictures were taken. Even though I tried to protect my face from all/most of them, I ask please don't post any pictures with my face in them. If you must, please black it out or whatever ya gotta do. Thanks.

Did play some pai-gow tiles. Game is pretty confusing, but I think most of the time I got the right answer on setting my tiles.

Played some craps and everyone lost. Table was bad. I got lucky at the end, pressing a few times and making most of it back, but still ended up in the red.

I would have got 7 to 8 depending on my guess on #1. Had it down to 2 choices. But the NFL thing, not really kicked from that spot (would have wrote both snap and kick spots). And most runs, the answer lists the team that plays in the stadium, not the actual stadium.

  • Stickler.... The rule does not specify any yard line the ball must be kicked from, it only specifies where the ball is placed before the snap. Since field goal yardages are listed as to where they are actually kicked from, and not where the ball was snapped from, all answers stating a yardage are therefore wrong.

Teddy would have beaten me, then; I got 7. I think the bug is "cicada" FWIW, in case anybody wants to fact-check it, rather than how you have it spelled in the answers. I should have had 8, but was trying to time myself similar to what you-all had to do and blanked on Rosalyn's name, despite owning all the C&H collections. Epic Fail. Also knew Mt. Mitchell (my inlaws' ashes are up there) but marked myself wrong for "Clingman Dome" which is part of that area. I also blew the tie-breaker, which wouldn't have been necessary anyway. I had a fun night of debauchery with other forum members and it was good to meet Wizard, teddys, DJTeddyBear, RS, NewToCraps, miplet and VegasAces. I always suck at trivia but was amused when we started betting on whether or not the blond bartender would correctly answer various trivia questions, starting with "How many red stripes are on the USA flag?"

I had never attempted to learn how to play Pai Gow Tiles, so I wasn't about to get schooled at the table in Harrah's while my money was at stake. I stood over DJTeddyBear's shoulder and got a lot of information from him (i.e. I asked him a lot of questions.) I think it was about 9:50 when we flocked over to the craps table. I stood back and watched at first but after a round of watching everyone seven out by the third roll, I decided to buy in and play Don't Pass & Don't Come when it was DJTeddyBear's turn to shoot. He cheerfully forecasted that having a dark side player would turn things around. Henceforth, the point was almost always 6 or 8 and almost each shooter made the first point. Half of my Don't Come bets lost as well.

I understand that a logical time to have a forum meetup is during the annual Global Gaming Expo, but I think we should do this more than once a year! The blond bartender had fun with us and so did the Pai Gow dealers. One dealer exclaimed "Already?!" when the next dealer came to the table. She said it was the first time that time flew by like that. Even the pit boss enjoyed the comradery and said players at the PG table are usually angry.

I'll post more in depth when I'm home, in front of keyboard, and not on my iPhone. But yeah, a good time was had by all.

I believe the phrase I used was "What a dickweed move... You're going down, buddy!" I think we both broke about even on my roll, but I otherwise got my ass kicked.

Yeah, it's hard to get people to agree on a date. Personally, I find it hard to make more than two trips per year. My next trip is in SIX WEEKS, for the Cutting Edge show.

Wasn't able to go this year but last year's meetup was fun. I think any event where a bunch of prop bettors get together makes for great entertainment.
