Tradition has it that we meet up after the show on Wednesday at I Love Burgers at the Palazzo. I think we've done this three or four years in a row now and I see no reason to change. However, as a formality, I'll open up the poll to the day and accept all suggestions for a change of venue below, as I don't want to come off as a dictator. However, my personal preference is to stick with tradition and to not fix what isn't broken.
Also, if anybody has a booth at the show, feel free to announce it. Last year I lots of us paid Ahigh a visit at his booth.
Damn! Just over 5 hours into the voting and you're ready to declare a winner?Quote: WizardAs of this writing ...

I'll second it, too. Or Third it....

I agree, but some argue that he is only a commander, as evidenced by the three bars on his sleeve. There was some discussion about it at DT: Is it Captain or Commander Crunch?.

Then say "Just kidding". Now that would be some comedy.

I don't think he's supposed to be either one. But agreed, three gold bars is a Commander. I was in the navy.

It would almost be worth getting a free pass from
him and going to Vegas just to do that.

On DT somebody said that on a smaller boat a commander said that a captain can be the one in charge of smaller boat. In that case, how would that person be referred to as?

Captain or Skipper. It also can be of a lower rank also. Some small boats are even manned by enlisted crew only.

Where do you get the free passes ?

Ahigh posted the link in the pinball 2047 thread this morning. Click through that and the exhibit hall is free.
Yes, I will be there this year. If win the trivia contest, can I name it after myself a la The Grosjean Cup? :)

If Babs is there, you might get 2nd place..

lol! Thanks, EB, that might be the nicest thing you've ever posted about me, but I suspect it would be a tough battle, and not just with teddys. I wish Sodawater would show; I think he might rock any trivia contest we have. In any case, I had to cancel this year's attendance for personal reasons, so the multi-champion face-off will have to wait.
Quote: DJTeddyBearI'll be there - ready to defend my title and/or show you my answer sheet from last year. Yeah, I still carry it with me. :B
The only chance I have of winning any trivia is if no one else shows up. Or if they are all probably questions.
Wizard, will there be trivia?Quote: WizardI'd like to remind everyone that the 2015 WoV Fall Classic meetup is tomorrow (Sep. 30) starting at 5:00 until about 8:00 at I Love Burgers in the Palazzo. To be following by some gambling. My vote will be tiles but I can be outvoted. There is also a possibility Miplet will attempt to go UP the Treasure Island downward escalator.
I have two tickets to VarieTEASE Burlesque at the House of Blues Mandalay Bay @ 8 PM. First to claim gets them. Free. Respond here or let me know at the meetup.

Really? Have you met Mike? YES, there will be trivia.
Note: The fact that I spent aome time with Mike last night talking about trivia did not influence my reply in any way...
Unfortunately I'm committed to going out of town on Wednesday. There is a Small chance I'll be able to make it if we travel afterwards. I'm not sure if that's realistic.Quote: djatcAnd prop bets (how does someone working in a casino not know what a yo is in craps?)
Who's all attending?
See you all there .. sorry Babs isn't able to make it, she will be missed.

Yup. I've got the questions ready to go.

Da*n the PM route. How will we know who the perv is who wants the tix, if they don't respond in the public thread? LOL
I know a few pictures were taken. Even though I tried to protect my face from all/most of them, I ask please don't post any pictures with my face in them. If you must, please black it out or whatever ya gotta do. Thanks.
Did play some pai-gow tiles. Game is pretty confusing, but I think most of the time I got the right answer on setting my tiles.
Played some craps and everyone lost. Table was bad. I got lucky at the end, pressing a few times and making most of it back, but still ended up in the red.

Yes I had a lot of fun. Just like last year I did the worst at waitres trivia betting. Tiles was fun. My goal next year is to know what the heck I'm doing. Craps Don't even want to go there.

The best score was by Teddys, naturally. It wasn't even close. However, he is a previous winner and not eligible for the prize. Second was DJTeddyBear, who is also a previous winner. In third, was VegasAces. In case you're not familiar with the name, VA is woman behind Vegas Aces and she also handles social media and Email screening for the Wizard sites. So, congratulations to VegasAces as our latest winner!
I'll post a picture from the event later. Per his request, I'll blur out the face of RS. Any other such requests?

I would have had only 2 correct.

According to a recent rule change, from what yard line must the extra point be kicked from in the NFL?]
Stickler.... The rule does not specify any yard line the ball must be kicked from, it only specifies where the ball is placed before the snap. Since field goal yardages are listed as to where they are actually kicked from, and not where the ball was snapped from, all answers stating a yardage are therefore wrong.
By the way... how many correct did Jeopardy Champ teddys get? Would my 4 have been in contention for a top 10 finish?
"Pink Floyd (yeah) ..... The Wall (ahhhh)"
Wizard of Oz answer ... bummer.
Wish I had not left during tiles, I would have loved to play craps with everyone. VA had asked me earlier if I played the Dark side, sounds like it was the night for it.
Thanks Wizard for a great event.

Yes, I could have phrased that one a lot better. I think Teddy got a 9.

I had never attempted to learn how to play Pai Gow Tiles, so I wasn't about to get schooled at the table in Harrah's while my money was at stake. I stood over DJTeddyBear's shoulder and got a lot of information from him (i.e. I asked him a lot of questions.) I think it was about 9:50 when we flocked over to the craps table. I stood back and watched at first but after a round of watching everyone seven out by the third roll, I decided to buy in and play Don't Pass & Don't Come when it was DJTeddyBear's turn to shoot. He cheerfully forecasted that having a dark side player would turn things around. Henceforth, the point was almost always 6 or 8 and almost each shooter made the first point. Half of my Don't Come bets lost as well.
I understand that a logical time to have a forum meetup is during the annual Global Gaming Expo, but I think we should do this more than once a year! The blond bartender had fun with us and so did the Pai Gow dealers. One dealer exclaimed "Already?!" when the next dealer came to the table. She said it was the first time that time flew by like that. Even the pit boss enjoyed the comradery and said players at the PG table are usually angry.
REALLY?Quote: GWAEIt happens twice a year but this is the big one.
I believe the phrase I used was "What a dickweed move... You're going down, buddy!" I think we both broke about even on my roll, but I otherwise got my ass kicked.Quote: BlueEagleI decided to buy in and play Don't Pass & Don't Come when it was DJTeddyBear's turn to shoot. Yeah, it's hard to get people to agree on a date. Personally, I find it hard to make more than two trips per year. My next trip is in SIX WEEKS, for the Cutting Edge show.Quote: BlueEagleI understand that a logical time to have a forum meetup is during the annual Global Gaming Expo, but I think we should do this more than once a year!
