My first impression is that the new configuration is not mobile friendly at all!
I am traveling with only my android phone for access. My first encounter was a notice that I have a new PM. I just can't see it. All I can see is a list of pages I can switch to but not the list of messages on the page. Oh, and a bunch of ads. Very frustrating and a giant leap backward in mobile friendliness, so far as I can see.
Also, as I compose this reply post, rather than showing the post I am replying to, it shows a block that says, "The post you are replying to
Preview of your reply"

The mobile friendly thing is being pushed by Google, and it's not at all about mobile friendliness, but about better standards in web design.
Mobile friendly sites are easier for Google to crawl and categorize.
As the owner of several web domains, I got email from Google advising me to upgrade my sites, or suffer shitty Google ranking.
Fortunately, I'm currently not marketing my services at all, so Google can go scratch.

Hope I'm not just missing it... but when I go to the blackjack sub forum, click a thread, then post in it or whatever, I can't get back to the blackjack sub forum without clicking "forums" and re-scrolling down to click blackjack again. That's really quite a pain. The breadcrumbs should be able to manage that (which they don't even show the blackjack sub forum I clicked to get where I am).
The site indeed looks more modern, I like the avatar idea/etc, but perhaps I'm a proponent of "the way things were" and don't like change lol.

I have a differing opinion on this. IMO the previous design was hard to read because it didn't scale right on my phone. The text was tiny and didn't wrap to the screen. The new one is a big improvement for me.
Regarding mobile friendliness, there is an app called "Tapatalk" that is specifically designed for reading forums on your phone. I really like it, but I think the site needs to sign up. Maybe it only works with compatible forum software.
I am not sure how the business side works. I use it to read the 2+2 forums but they don't seem focused on showing me ads.

The spoiler text now appears automatically, rather than when you click on the button.
Er, that defeats the purpose of the spoiler box, doesn't it?
If you click on it twice, the text hides, so I am assuming that it thinks the text is hidden to begin with and the first click displays it.

Overall I think it looks very good, but I have a problem reading the font - it is too thin, and many of the lines are less than a pixel wide and are being averaged to gray with the white background.

This is a must have feature IMO. Please add it Zuga. I don't read the site on a mobile device, but I think this version looks more contemporary and inviting to new users.
The other one functioned fine, but people see something that doesn't look like it's been updated in 10 years and it smells of death so they move on.

Good call. I thought it might just have been the resolution I am running, but I also find the standard font for the forum posts hard to read. What stands out for me in particular is that the horizontal stroke of the lower case "t" is completely missing. I'm in the minority... but I do not like the new format. Maybe I'm just computer illiterate, but I can't even find the pm's.... I also can't find the 10 most recent threads that have new posts... I couldn't care less if there are avatars or not.... I guess in a week I'll be used to the new format and won't mind it....

the "NEW, UPGRADED AND MOBILE FRIENDLY WOV" blue banner at the top with the graphic design of the strip is really too HUGE!!!
Taking up valuable screen real estate. Why do I have to scroll down almost a whole page length to be able to see the forum postings. aAgghhh. I hope its temporary I don't think we need to see that picture every time we are on the forum.
The forum section is also a bit squished in. I can see you are trying to make space for the adds on the right side side but I feel like the adds can go another 100+ pixels to the right.
Those things throw off the balance for me. Anyway. Congratulations!

As already said the banner ads etc... take up a whole page...followed by the first thing which is RECENT TOPICS which should stay...but the following three things...NEWEST MEMBERS, TOP POSTERS and BLOGS can they be moved down below out of the way. Just whats above takes a two page scroll to get past every time you load the home page.
Maybe its just me but I seem to be scrolling a whole lot more on this new improved site and reading less

I think (hope) that Zuga started this thread to make sure that all the features that established members depend on will still be present in the next current version. That's more than can be said about other developers whose software I use (*cough* Microsoft *cough*) that simply say, "Here's the new version. I don't care that you lost functionality that was vital to your productivity. You will like this new version better."
Hopefully, we will end up at a point where everybody is happy, and I can save my, "Why is the new version inferior to previous versions?" arguements for Windows 10! :P

The new site looks HORRIBLE on the old 4:3 monitors we have here at the office. Way too much real estate on the right side of the screen taken up by a big margin as well as a sidebar.

Personally I don't care for the new site, but like others have stated, I don't like change. I knew it was just a matter of time before someone decided that the way it's been wasn't good enough anymore. I'm going to give it a few days and maybe it will grow on me.

Congrats on the upgrade. It will take time to adjust to the new look.
The number of threads and posts (on the main forum page) does take up a lot of space between topics. Font and bolding could also use some work.

OK, this isn't good. When I click on a thread that
I've read previously, instead of taking me to the
first unread post, it takes me to the first post in
the thread. I then have to manually search for
the last unread post. This sucks.

I appreciate all the comments but once again am asking for little bit of patience. These things always happen when you launch a new site. But what is most important is that there is no major issues, and the site is working fine.
All these reported things are small bugs that will be fixed in the next day or two.

As much as I, and several others, wish it would the old site isn't coming back. It's like the woo site. Wizard stated after the launch that to much time and money was spent to revert it back. I don't know how traffic is there but I avoid it like a plague, unless I need something and I don't know anywhere else to get the info. I'll give it some time but I suspect my daily visits here are over.

I'm wondering if not now, maybe later, the site can give us some custom options to change background /foreground colors from the default setting. And maybe some other possibilities in fonts, or sizing we can set on our own.
