It seems that there is some confusion on the Forum with respect to perhaps Blocking Users and exactly how to go about NOT talking to people.
This is an issue that has reared its head recently, and perhaps on as many as five occasions prior to this.
Please read what is enclosed in the below parentheses, this is how you inform someone you are not talking to them:
( )
You will notice that there is nothing in the parentheses, which is exactly how you refrain from talking to someone. There is no reason for a post saying, "You are blocked," or anything to that effect, or a PM to which the recipient cannot respond informing the recipient that he or she is Blocked.
You just stop talking to them.
Quote:
Silence.
From this point forward, posting (or PMing) someone with no other purpose than to tell them they are Blocked will be construed as Trolling, since you are deliberately making a post and/or PM to which they cannot reply. The penalty may or may not involve a Suspension, and will almost certainly involve me making a sarcastic post with a reference to Elementary School Playgrounds, or some similar thing.
Thank you for your kind attention, happy posting to all!

So, Buzz, why is it that you always speak your silence so danged loud?
;-)
Quote: BuzzardI can either look stupid or open my mouth and prove same !
Does anyone know the origin of this qute? I think the original goes something like "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."
For the reocord, i came across it in "The Simpson's." Three guesses as to which character used it ;)

This quote - in different incarnations - goes ALL the way back to the ancients; (you can append "lest you be seen a fool" to all the quotes). Even the Buddha stated that one should not speak unless the sentiments are:
1. True;
2. Kind, and;
3. necessary
(lest you be seen or be a fool)
And Confucius:
The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions. [Which means if we're online, we should be at least working in another open window, and using that window more.]
And:
I have often regretted my speech, never my silence.
Publilius Syrus (~100 BC), Maxims
All of these point to NOT speaking UNLESS to contribute intelligently.
Do not worry about being seen a fool for being quiet, as "stupid is as stupid does."

Thanks!
As is the case with quotations, this one is like victory. You know: Victory has many fathers but defeat is an orphan.

I prefer this misquote from a Jeopardy contestant: "Victory has a hundred fathers, but defeat is a bastard." :)
I might be making more threads, please reply to them.
We can skirt the rule. When you block someone just say, you have been.Quote: djatcI just blocked everyone so I don't have to listen to any of you blah blah blah about something or another.
