other site, too much name calling.
I thought I was the only one who noticed traffic down here as we'll. I'm not sure dt will catch on. This site does well because gamblers have a certain mind type and can find many topics interesting. The new site has no theme.

It just had it's first nuke.
Keep in mind that the only announcement about it has been here.Quote: EvenBobThe other site is

Once the Wiz starts to promote it publicly, things should change.
Then again, who knows?
At least the color scheme has changed. I never mentioned it, but I also thought the grey color scheme was too drab.
Quote: SOOPOOand I can weed out the threads that I'm not interested in.
Exactly, thats what the block thread feature is for. I've
blocked over 700 threads, it works great. My fear is
having another forum will ruin this one. Whenever
something is working great, it always gets messed
with.
Thats why The Drudge Report is so successful. Matt
Drudge has left it alone since its launch in 1996. He
hasn't changed anything and he's worth a couple hundred
million because of it.

Yeah, but making it a clone of this board, so far, while an improvement, tells the members here "This is the board for all your nonsense we serious Advantage Players are sick of in our forum."
It also kind of reminds me of a Simpson's ep with a Sharper Image type store called "Things Unnecesary."
Quote: TheBigPaybakI'm not sure what the goal of the new site was: to try and reduce the amount of non-gambling chatter on WoV?
Exactly.
Further: what's the focus? what's the market?
In other words: why, what and who.
This forum has a focus, purpose and market. So do other fora I've been part of, like SF forums, Philosophy forums, etc. The new board is more a throwback to the days of the old WWIV or FidoNet days, or what Compuserve and AOL were in their beginnings, too. a general, unfocused mix of topics directed at no one in particular and everyone in general. Like the old systems, expect it to expand gradually if it works. Someday it will have a gambling area, too, if it lives that long.
Anyway, the type of amorphous board hardly seems necessary or even particualrly attractve in these days of Internet plenty.
Quote: rxwineI still think pushing everything non-gambling to the bottom of this site is a better idea.
Why mess with it at all? If you don't like a
thread, block it. Don't read it. This try to
please everybody atitude we have in this
country is ridiculous. Everybody has to be
equally satisfied with everything or it
must be changed.
The Wiz's intent when he started this site
was for it to be about gambling and Vegas.
It expanded into more than that, so what.
Quit trying to fight the obvious, we want
to talk about Vegas and gambling and other
stuff too, its OK. Really..
Quote: NareedThis is really annoying. If I offer a negative opinion on something I don't know well, I get criticized for knocking it without trying it. If I do the same about something I do know, then I get criticized for knowing too much about something I'm not itnerested about.
There is not a problem with not liking the new site, but you have made at least 5 or 6 posts over here and then a blog post over there saying why the whole thing is poorly designed, drab, not worth your time, and possibly bigoted. Each of these posts ends with you saying that you 'pass' on the new site. Fine, if you don't like it you have made that clear. Your posts are rude and it bothers me that you feel the need to continue to slam something that our host here has poured so much time, energy, and possibly money into.

I do not recall saying "possibly."

Two of these posts. That's 2, II, ii, T-W-O. (and that's rude)
The blog post was because I'm the most prolific poster here, and I've been a rather conspicuous booster of a certain person important to this site in the past. If I don't plan to join the new experiment, it seems appropriate to say so. Also because I have been mentioned at least once as an expected contributor to the other site.

Why, you know nothing about that.
BTW many men on this site really have a hard time being told "no."

Wow, very thought-provoking.
So shame, shame, shame on you Bigfoot66.
And BTW that's shame, S-H-A-M-E (with capital
letters).
Quote: 1BBIt's fun watching the new members trickle in. JerryLogan joined and there's one named EvenBoob.
Those are both pretty good jokes. I would go over and sign up as mklXXX whatever, but it would be like re-using someone's stand-up routine.
has had hundreds of members visit it in that time. Yet only
104 people have joined the new forum. To me this means
the interest in the new forum can't be very high.
