Quote:The new hotel will be built on the site of the former Frontier hotel, across Las Vegas Boulevard from Wynns two existing properties. It will feature approximately 2,500 hotel rooms and be linked to the Wynn and Encore hotels by an air-conditioned umbilical hallway, Wynn said on a conference call Monday.
Wynn Resorts Ltd. acquired the 38-acre site for $336 million in December. The company is also building a hotel, convention center and lake resort, Paradise Park, behind its current properties.
I wonder if the hallway will be connected to the public... to bring people from the strip to the properties rather than just between them.
The various properties want entry ways to function and transit corridors to function as separate areas.
Security concerns can be dealt with at entryways and this allows the umbilical area to function without distractions and delays
so Wynn owns what used to be New Frontier, and next door Resort World has what used to be Stardust.
Quote: AyecarumbaIt would be cool if they put in gondolas like the asian properties. A long covered bridge wont work for many seniors.
People movers, like they use at some airports (DEN, MEM) would be nice!

Most of them would just be broken down like the escalator are there in Vegas.
Seems unlikely.

Seems unlikely.
Not in Vegas, especially, when your last name is Wynn.

An example is already in place between the Main Street Station and the California hotels downtown.
If they go People Movers I hope they are FAST no one really likes those slow moving things. Even old geezers like me want to get there rather than creep along.
Since casinos pay the taxes, they usually get what they want.
A vegas skyway would make a lot of sense over LVB. Seems like they have a very high incidence of ped/vehicle accidents there.
Like the old school Underground Atlanta, or the way Montreal has an underground city.
During the heat of summer and underground walkway would be cooler, especially if the aboveground one is open to the air and sun.
Quote: onenickelmiracleI always wished casinos had trains with couches to sit on instead of just lines, or a waiting area with a take a number system. The problem with a train would be getting it to work for wheel chairs. Otherwise people movers are great. Knowing casinos, they only go in and not out.
I don't know the history of the monorail installation. But u have to think they went thru the same process then. What would have made sense would be to bore a tunnel directly under LVB with stops every block, similar to the ATL subway. Escalators up to the surface on both sides of LVB. Feels extremely safe to use.
Must be that much more expensive to bore underground than build a track above ground.
Perhaps it also has to do with substructure of buildings, vaults, electric and sewer.
Might also be fault lines in that area. Perhaps too vulnerable to quakes.
Also, tunnels are way, way more expensive than bridges.

As you know, they consider all options.
I'm curious where all the water comes from for Las Vegas. I once read Lake Mead but that didn't make much since to me. Mr. Wynn will need a building permit etc. but like someone said, no one dare oppose such a project. So, in summary, we have the new Wynn Palace in Macau, the new Wynn Boston under construction, the new Wynn West being drawn, the new "tower" behind Encore/Wynn and the lagoon. I hope I have all this energy when I'm in my 70's like Mr. Wynn seems to. He was quoted as saying "hotel rooms have a 50-60 percent profit margin". I'm not sure of the room comp policy at the various properties, but the retail price for a room is five star. Is it a house of cards which could come crumbling down?
