I generally do not play at Indian casinos. Compared to state-regulated casinos, I lose more -- and never win -- at Indian casinos. In addition, I have never felt comfortable with a tribal council being the final arbiter when resolving a dispute.

That said, I just noticed the National Indian Gaming Commission has now officially "suspended" minimum internal control standards (MICS) for Indian casinos. Originally developed in 1999 as enforceable regulations for Class III gaming machines, a federal court ruled in 2006 NIGC lacked authority to enforce or promulgate those standards.

Until now, NIGC kept the same "regulatory" wording on its Internet site, perhaps giving some false assurance to gaming patrons at Indian casinos that there was some kind of oversight at some minimum level accountability. But, no longer. NIGC recently modified its MICS to reflect NIGC providing only guidance," while supporting each tribe's "inherent sovereign authority" to serve as the primary regulator of its own gaming. That notwithstanding, NIGC claims to oversee the efficient regulation of all tribal gaming establishments. Uh huh, yup.

Here's a link: NIGC Minimum Standards.

As far as I'm concerned, they can keep the land as long as they stop offering s*** game rules.

Send them back where they came from.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.
