Anyway, I came out on a very good comp offer (a free cruise) and got the usual limo and suite and 4 free days. I didn't justify it with my gambling and ADT though there were extenuating circumstances.
Day one: Massive flight delay. I got in at 10 PM and played one hour before I crashed.
Day two: 5 hours at my usual games and bets.
Day three: 2 hours of normal play and then I got a call about an emergency at home. I had to buy a same day ticket and there was no day 4.
I'll be the first to admit that I didn't uphold my unspoken end of the comp system but most of it was beyond my control. Do you think I'll be lowered on their system for this one bad trip (especially since I have no history with the new host, or whatever he is).
I've had a trip where I got food poisoned or a stomach flu the first night and only put an hour of gambling the whole trip. It didn't stop my friends and my SO to charge all their meals. I explained to my host what had happened from the start, and he assured me not to worry and don't worry about gambling. Sure enough, at the end of the trip, my host took care of all my food and Beverages and wished me well. He said because I have a history of consistency, they understand things happen and it won't hurt you. However, if there are many trips where I fleece them by not playing, I'm sure i'll get downgraded or get the boot. Just send the director an email explaining what had happened, I'm sure he/she will be understanding.
Another kicker in the occasion: while my guy was hard to track down and didn't' show all that much interest a new host there approached me while I was playing and offered his services and free tournament entries at any time. Go figure.
Quote: LovecompsI just came back from an odd trip and am wondering if I've messed up my future comp status. These days I call the GN home. I had a good host but she's gone (I didn't ask why). My new guy is called a. "Director of Player Development", which sounds like someone who's higher up the totem pole and I'm also wondering about that.

Emergencies happen and if the Casino doesn't understand that a call saying,"Dad is having a major heart attack and we are driving him to the hospital! Come ASAP!" Beats sitting up in a Casino playing games, then they are not a Casino that deserves your business.
If you believe your play doesn't warrant a Director, just talk to the host who came up to you and ask what he needs to do to make him the host. In all honesty, the Director is probably busy frying up bigger fish and won't have much time for you. He or she may take time to respond to you. It's true that a higher ranking host have more freedom and power to get you bigger and better things. However, they're not going to grant it to you unless you earn it.
If you have a host that's at or below your playing level, they can give you their undivided attention and will try please you.
About 10 years ago, I got assigned a upper-middle host at a strip casino. It took two or more days to get my emails returned and I've heard a lot of "based on your play" answers. However, after several years and my play getting much more premium, my old host started emailing me and promising me all sorts of things. I refused and stuck it out with the hotel and host I liked. I don't blame him. At that time, I was a small fish and he had to allocate his time accordingly. Lovecomp, you should seek out hosts within your level so that you're not "ignored."
I got the same "based on your play" spiel too. Like I said, the host that could have helped me and I had a relationship with was gone. Frankly, I'm more interested in being treated right (such as being responded to or helped promptly) than the title of the person who is my host. I was much more impressed with the new guy who was showing initiative.
After 5 trips to the GN, this last one notwithstanding, 4-5 hours a day (usually broken into two segments a day). I asked for a host at the end of the very first trip before I checked out.
BJ- $50 a hand on double deck and a 6 deck shoe, depending on which table is more available. On a double deck I'll drop it to $25 if the shoe is cold and up it to $100 on a rich shoe.
Craps-$25 on the line and placing/laying full odds. I also put $30 or $60 on the 6 and 8. Now and then I'll make a small hard way bet, two ways, with the crew. I'm never on any center bet.
No slots or goofy carnival games, ever.
I know that it would barely register on the strip but I always seem to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, bettors on the crap table. In their 24K rewards program I'm a hair away from their 3rd level (Chairman) of 4.
