Quote: WizardI have a pair of the door handles from the original Sahara. You may recall they are in an S shape and have lots of what look like jewels.
How did you acquire them?

I’m not sure how I missed this thread the first time.
My only memorabilia is commemorative chips. These are my favorite.
ALL of the Four Queens $5 chips commemorate something. Often, a stack of twenty will have no duplicates.
But seriously? DST? Then again, it was also April Fools Day...
At the time, I didn’t think much of this chip, even though I took it. Now?
Hey Donny! Straighten your tie. And smile a little. You’re gonna be POTUS someday...

Superstitions are silly, irrational, childish rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

I just got a private message from a semi regular member claiming to have memorabilia from the Tangiers casino, and worded it as if it was a dare to challenge that claim.
While the Tangiers was a fictional casino (featured in the movie Casino), there’s plenty of souvenir product for it available.
So I do not doubt that claim. But I gotta wonder why it was a private message.

Same as the casino from The Living Daylights, I see its chips on Ebay a lot.
I'm more of a license plate collector and see the BANONE license plate from Smokey and the Bandit as well as ASSMAN from Seinfeld all the time. Somebody must have made hundreds of them.

There was an auction after they closed their doors. I didn't go to the auction, but bought them from somebody shortly afterward who did go.

I've seen them pop up on occasion. I imagine the Sahara must have had dozens of doors. Very nice piece for someone whose name starts with S.
The older I get, the better I recall things that never happened

For years, someone on eBay has been selling a nice slot machine that would normally sell for $500-$1500, but it has a Tangiers belly glass on it, so the seller wants $19,000 for it!
