To me this is a huge bonus as a free room obviously ends up being a big savings.
I'm curious as to whether MLife is as generous with their room comps and if their system will show you comped room dates similar to TR. I'm considering spending the last 2 nights at Mirage or Bellagio. Although I wouldn't expect them to comp the 2 nights for this stay, I would want to gather room offers for the future. Obviously MGM has some nicer properties so it would be nice to have the variety.
My typical play for a day would be 3-5 hours of $50 a hand BJ, an hour of $25 roulette and about $2000 in coin-in at various slots.
Any insight would be great! Thanks all

No.
Quote: candiedappleI'm heading to Vegas at the end of the month for 4 nights. I'm booked at the PH for 4 nights which are all comped through the Total Rewards website. I'm always impressed with how easy it is to get comped rooms at Caesar's properties even though I'm not a big player. Of the 8 Vegas properties I'm able to stay for free for almost any night, except at Caesars where it seems they only offer 1/2 the nights free and the rest at a discount.

I think you are a bigger player than you think you are.
It really helps if you have a host. I have a host at MGM Grand. The email offers for MGM Grand I get are not great (usually just discounted rooms, sometimes free rooms mid-week) but whenever I want to go I just email my host, tell her the dates, and she sets it up for me, all comped, including weekends. She has never once said no. Usually I just get one of the "regular" rooms (which are actually quite nice now that they have renovated) but sometimes she "upgrades" me to an executive suite (probably when the regular rooms are full)
The nice thing about getting the room comped "up front" is that then I can use my express comps to pay for food and stuff instead of having to spend them on the hotel room. I like eating at the nicer restaurants so it's nice to use comps to pay :) I usually just charge everything to my room and then apply the comps at the end, before I leave. If there is a shortfall (more room charges than express comps) she will sometimes make up the difference (I guess these are what's referred to as "discretionary comps"?) but not always.
I also get invitations to events. The best one I've been to was the Super Bowl party (at MGM Grand) last year -- it was was really, really, good. Food, drinks, pictures with models -- all free. I had a great time (and of course it helped that the game was exciting). I also get email offers for a comped room and tickets to just about any event at Mandalay Bay (concerts, UFC fights, etc), but I rarely go to those (I did go to one of their beach concerts this summer though). I'm not a huge fan of the casino at the Mandalay Bay in general -- not enough variety of table games (although I did enjoy playing craps at the beachside casino)
My expected loss for a 3 or 4 day trip is probably somewhere in the $1500 to $2000 range (although of course the variance is huge) but overall I'm pretty happy with the comps at MGM Grand. Free room and high-end food is not bad for losing somewhere around $500 / day. That's probably about what I'd spend on room, food, and entertainment on a vacation anywhere else.
FWIW, I am at platinum level on MLife, although I go about once a month so it really isn't very hard to hit platinum. Before they reset everything at the beginning of the month I think I was around 400k tier points (so, easily in platinum tier, but nowhere near noir). But, again, this is collected over several trips.

EXPECTED loss?! So, if I'm thinking right, if you were a craps player..the EXPECTED loss is quite low for most bets (like ~$2 per $100) so you definitely have to be a heavy-hitter...
But, let's analyze the OP. He said, $2000 in coin-in in slots. Let's assume dollar slots. According to the Wizard's page, the HE at the nicer strip casinos is probably about 7.5%. So that's $150 in expected loss right there.
An hour of $25 roulette: Suppose 60 spins. House edge = 5.26%, so that's another $75 in expected loss.
3-5 hours (assume 4) of $50 Blackjack: Suppose, 3:2, H17, 6 decks, so a little over a house 0.6% edge. Say, 60 hands/hr, and that's another $70 or $75.
So, the total is about $300/day.

I will be in Vegas for March Madness, Comped 4 nts at Caesers Palace. I'm in the Augustus Tower. I don't like MGM because they don't give tier credits for sports betting like CET does and you only have 120 days to cash in your ticket while it's a full year at CET properties.
I know it has been a few months since your post but I was just doing some research online and thought I'd reply to it.
My husband and I started with MGM properties in 2008 and for a couple of years we received great offers, probably spending around $2000/$3000 for each 9 night trip in Vegas; we lived close to Caesars Windsor and started taking a day or two trip there, very soon the offers started to appear and we ended up switching to TR since the offers with MGM weren't as nice anymore. You are right, with TR it is very easy to get comped rooms and they do have slot tournaments and small free play.
Up to January 2012 we had experienced both programs and found that MGM has better offers in general. Even though they say that you need to have 3 nights in between offers, like other people said here, by calling the casino host they can overwrite that and book you a room, considering that you have history with them.
Since the end of last year, we have been there twice for 10 nights each time (spending around $3000 out of pocket, but probably around $5000 in total with winnings) and stayed with MGM, we now have Platinum status since February 2013 but haven't seen many nice offers yet, just 2 to 4 comped nights with $150 free play and 2 for 1 show tickets and in the past we have 2 free tickets to any MGM show, 3 nights in a suite, $500 free play, $350 resort credit....overall, it seems like the offers are not as good, even though we have a higher status now.
We are considering going to Vegas at the end of July, and that is why I wanted to do some research to see what other people are getting. We haven't gambled at a TR property for 1 year and a half or so, but we can still book up to 5 nights in a row comped in Vegas with them, except at Caesars Palace, and some tournament offers and $50 free, which is not bad.
The offers from MLife seem to be taking a lot longer to quick in, and we think we will give MGM another shot on our next trip, as they take a while to show up, they seem to last for a year or so.
After our next trip, we will wait a few more months and see how it goes. If we don't feel that MLife is keeping up with our expectations and previous experiences, we will try Palazzo or the Wynn. A friend of my husband's is a constant at Palazzo and he said that he is treated really well there.
Anyway, since your last trip, I'm curious to hear what you have to say about your experiences with MLife and TR.
Cheers, Vegas76.
Mandalay Bay 3 nights in a suite, 400 resort credit
Luxor 3 nights in a super suite(whatever that is, never tried it), 500 resort credit and limo to/from airport.
Aria 3 nights in a corner suite, 250 resort credit, 2 free show tickets.
My advice would be just stay and play at the properties you enjoy. If you want more in comps just call and ask, worst they can say is no.
I'll be there July 4th weekend and will warm up the tables for you ;-)
Quote: Vegas76Hi there,
I'm Platinum at TR and get my resort fees waived,I also get comped on Fri and Sat nights at Caesers Palace. I was a MGM guy but not anymore BC they are cheap with their comps. The Venetian has cut back on their comps as the Las Vegas Sun had reported a woman booked a comped 3 nt stay at the Venetian 2 months in advance but 48 hrs before her arrival the casino host called and told her they would not honor the comped 3 night stay and she would have to pay the regular hotel rate of $750 for those nights.
