Should casinos provide live gaming access to the handicapped?

OK. I admit it. I don't understand what your system does. Then again, I'm not sure I NEED to understand your system.

For the record, I'm at a loss to see where one of those issues you mentioned performs the electronic method of informing the gambler that they can place the bet.

But I'll maintain that there is no electronic notification required for my idea. My vision is to use a system similar to those used by Let It Ride and Caribbean Stud. Those are electronic systems to recognize when a bet has been placed, but do nothing to alert the gambler that it is time to place the bet.

No, it does not. You are not describing the requirements of a game method, you are instead describing the requirements of an underlying electronic wagering acceptance system, if you choose to use one. Those are most commonly used with progressive jackpot systems. DEQ, TCS, ShuffleMaster, and Galaxy Gaming all have them, and each system handles the administrative tasks that you set forth. The important point is that all those steps are unrelated to the wagering method, whether it's DJ's bet, one of mine, one of yours, or anything else.

The process of integrating a new wager into any of those systems is trivial, and is unrelated to whether the system itself is functional. Suggesting that DJ himself needs to solve all those underlying technical issues before he sells his game is like suggesting that Ford has to pave all the roads before it sells its cars.

From my limited experience, I doubt it would be profitable. Common sense tells us that people with disabilities generally have more medical expenses than non-disabled people. It also suggests that they are more likely to be whole or partially dependent on some sort of financial assistance, and that they may have a harder time finding employment due to employer prejudices. These factors suggest that in general, handicapped & disabled people will have less disposable income than non-disabled people.

While casinos may want to try and tap into the under-served market that disabled people represent, I think they aren't going to want to invest a lot in doing so. It would be a smaller market, since a smaller portion of the population (that is eligible to gamble) is disabled. And since that market will have less money to blow at the casino, the potential return isn't as great.

Then again, it may only take one disabled whale to prove me wrong!

Side note - I'm more stunned that Jerry Logan didn't know who Steven Hawking was than about him getting permanently banned! it was just a matter of time for that. But Hawking? Geez, watch the Discovery channel for an hour or two and you'll probably see him!

You really think he's the type of guy that wants to expand his mental horizons by watching the quality programming on the Discover channel? Or in any manner whatsoever?

Excellent point. I guess I watch those channels enough that I just assumed others do too.

Jerry's mental horizons were adequately expanded by peeking at his younger neighbours while smoking his evening cigar, or talking to Rob Singer on the phone; after a hard day railing on smokers and perverts and lonely old men on the internet there's no time to watch Discovery with that schedule. Not if the trucks have to run on time.
