I'm still meaning to check it out. Seldom do I have reason to go to that part of town.

There is a game demo on the Aces up gaming website... I played for a little while. I honestly prefer UTH or WPT heads up hold'em. While the switch option is interesting, I don't like having to pay for another hand. I would rather simply just fold and play a new hand with the full amount on the table. I'm also not the biggest fan of the community card order of exposure. Just my opinion as always.

I would compare this to Texas Hold 'Em Bonus where the player can pay a fee for a new set of hole cards. From the failure of my own Mulligan game, I think if players get a lousy hand they don't want to replace it, they just want to admit defeat and play a new hand. Same thing with surrender in blackjack, hardly anybody ever invokes the option even when it is available.

So what happens to the "switch" bet if you do not invoke the option to switch?

If you win the hand it pushes. If you lose the hand, it loses. If you exercise the switch then it's lost as well.

This is actually a very good game mechanism - as the gambler sees that if he doesn't switch out a bad hand, he'd probably lose the switch bet anyway.
If it wins on a win, which obviously is even better, it wouldn't provide enough house edge for the switch to happen. They might have made it also win on a flush or better, like in UTH, but the math had denied that.
