Been a big fan of the forum here and the articles. Saw the technicians remove the fpdw from the palms and heard from a friend they were removed at sunset station and gvr as well. I’m assuming it is all stations casinos at this point.

Was wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on this and what in your opinion are the best aps in vp.

First post please be kind :)

Thanks

Thanks for the compliment as to the articles!

The Vegas guys might know more along the lines of straight machine plays, I’m not out there. I think there are still some 100%+ DB games here and there. I’d definitely recommend practicing that one on the sites, I consider some of the holds fairly non-intuitive. Probably one of the reasons it can still be found.

Welcome to the forum!

That is not a good thing for low-level video poker players. As far as I know, it was the best consistent bet in Vegas. I wonder if they are pulling them from the Fiesta casinos too. This definitely seems like a Stations kind of decision.

Update, apparently FPDW and KBJW have been pulled from Fiesta Rancho and Boulder Station as well. As it appears, the only ones left are Double Double Bonus, Loose Deuces, and Double Bonus with Loose Deuces at quarters.

I really thought that if they ever make this decision it would be a long time from now. I'm really sorry to hear this. Thanks for the heads up. We all know they weren't making money on them anyway, it was just bragging rights. But this is just another piece of Las Vegasacana gone with the wind. Sad feeling. I wasn't going to be found playing them anyway, but it's just sad, that's all, it's just sad. Like my uncle just died or something.

Maybe they're just going to leave one bank in each place. Is that possible? Maybe they're just clearing room. I hope something like that.

But Stations is the only ones to leave them out for these last several years. Seems nice of them, actually, imo.

I wanna see how the smoke clears before I judge.

I definitely get that, haha I was grinding them for about 3 months, ran really well. Thank you @wizard for your guide btw! Was at an hourly of about 33 dollars when it was taken down. @wizard I was actually trying to break the record for the fastest deuces wild player, I think I peaked out at about 2060 hands applied from 10 minutes to the hour, with 3 mistakes. I guess I'll move onto poker from now on.

Will you quit the game when all video poker games turn negative? If not, how much of a house edge will you put up with? Sooner or later all video poker games will be 97% or worse because a video poker machine takes up the same space as a 90% penny slot. The casino's other choice is to remove video poker entirely. We are already starting to see that here.

If you decide to play those games, strategy books and software will still help you. The difference is you will be looking for ways to play the game cheaper. Video poker profits are on life support. I'm pretty sure there will be other profitable opportunities if you look hard enough.

I don't think it will necessarily be good for the Casinos either. I liked to dabble on the FPDW at Palms, and lots of times we took friends who went off to play Slots, eat at the buffet, etc.

When things get too tight in Vegas ( and I think we're getting close, ie look no further than ridiculous resort fees, parking fees even if you are staying at the hotel, etc ), then won't more and more people just make the short drive to a casino in their home state ?

Especially as those home state casinos start offering Showrooms with Bands, Comedians, and daily promo's with a much smaller population of promo participants ? I'll have to go again to burn up some of the myVegas reward chips I have been stockpiling. But after that.....

I am treated VERY well at my local casinos. They treat me like a king, and I'm not a king. Maybe a prince, but not a king.

You should have seen the two-level loft/suite they put me and my girlfriend in last night. Sure, Wednesday was a slowish night, but fully comped and a delicious dinner. I am NOT a high roller. Maybe a medium roller. Basically, I am nobody. They still treat me great. I'll always love Vegas, but they're starting to get on my nerves. I'm sure I will be going to Vegas MUCH less in the future. California Indian hotel/casinos are the nuts. Vegas can keep their resort fees, etc.

I've watched the changes being done on vpfree2 today and apparently it is over. Do a search for fpdw in NEVADA, and the only thing that comes up is Sam's Town. So unless there are some secret locations, all the little towns that might have had a few only a few years ago are history.

This is our experience as well. Why would we fly all the way to Vegas for a few percent of a quarter game? If you live there, no problem. The offers from Mississippi have become much more valuable since Florida got into the casino game. Free flights, rooms, food and drinks for playing quarters? No way is a Vegas casino going to offer us anything near that.

All casino games must have a significant house edge or the casino will replace them. In the past, enough players made enough errors to support positive odds. The few positive games left will be gone in the very near future. When you enjoy a day at the casino as entertainment, you control the cost of that entertainment. The good news is the casinos need your business and will go out of their way to make you happy.

All casinos are local. Sure people still flock to Vegas, but its for restaurants, shows, sporting events, etc., it doesn't seem to be gamblers. Why buy a plane ticket and get TSA-groped?

We flew to Florida before Christmas, and my wife wanted me to wear the Ugly Christmas sweater she got for me. Sure, no problem. It had goats or llamas on it.

But she wore a sparkly-ish top that apparently got that sparkle from some metallic thread. So karma caught up with her. She called her TSA inspection a full body massage.

My wife is 72 years old. She is trim and fit. She is a beautiful classy lady that looks much younger than her age. Whenever we fly out of the St. Petersburg airport, the TSA people always pat her down and I walk right through. This annoys her to no end. I find it funny. She doesn't look like a terrorist. She doesn't wear a turban or a hijab. Are we employing these people to feel up our grandmothers?
