A few people have seen this new game and asked me about it. I have not seen it yet and it does not appear on on VideoPoker.com. The thrust is you take regular multi-play Dream Card and:

1. Deal three cards behind the scenes and give the player the best one, in terms of expected value, on the deal. Thus the player is starting with stronger starting hands than a single random hand.
2. Decrease the Dream Card probability.

This one would have been a very tough analysis, so I asked the nice people at VideoPoker.com to share their spreadsheet of games, pay tables, Dream Card probabilities, and returns with me, which they did. I then put it all on my new page on Super Dream Card.

Please click the link and let me know what you think. As always, I welcome questions, comments, and especially corrections.

The question for the poll is would you play Super Dream Card?

A police officer is walking past a home. He hears somebody scream, "John, don't do it!" Then he hears a gunshot. He walks in and sees a doctor, lawyer, a butcher, and a body in a pool of blood. He immediately arrests John for murder. How did he know which was one John?

Please put answers in spoiler tags. No searching!

Beer to the first correct answer.

No, it isn't that. We can assume the gun was dropped and the people in the room have moved around so that it isn't clear who held it or where they were in the room at the time of the shooting.

Next time we do a wovcon or w/e, instead of asking lame Star Trak questions (no offense) and nonsense from like the 1950's probably, it should be ALL riddles. I was asked one like a month ago and it pissed me off but I finally figured it out.

Five answers, at least 4 (and probably 5) of which are wrong.

1. He arrested the doctor who was standing up, and not leaning over the body trying to attend to it.

2. The policeman arrests the butcher, he is the only one who would have used a gun. The doctor would have prescribed opioid pain-killers and the lawyer would have sued and made him pay lawyers.

Which does leaves open the question of how the policeman distinguishes the doctor, lawyer and butcher from each other.

3. The butcher had a grocery-store name tag on his apron, identifying himself as John.

4. I think Rs's answer is probably correct - he arrested the only male in the group.

5. The body was a woman who appeared to be a prostitute. She was the one who had yelled "John, don't do it." The policemen arrested whomever had his pants around his ankles because that was the victim's "John."
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

I think I asked a Star Trek question only once. To appease the younger members, I've asked about the Tellitubies and the Wiggles, I believe. For the older members, I asked about the "Party of the Century." Why didn't you get that one, Doc?

If other Video Poker players are anything like me, this ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!

What we want to see is Super Spin Dream Card Bonus Streak Build a Wheel Quick Quads Deal Draw Hot Ultimate X Barnyard Roll with Double Super Times Pay feature.

It only costs 80 credits per hand to play the features, unfortunately, it can only be played ten-handed.

With optimal strategy, the return of the best game, Triple Double Bonus with A-C-E-$ as well as Sequential and Reverse Sequential Royal pays 97.12%.

Fortunately for the casinos, simulations of average video poker players put the hold at something more like 48%.

#Jaded

Actually, something more automatic would be better. Like, if you just hit the button and the game just tells you if you win or lose. What would you call a machine like that?

Thanks for writing this up Wiz. Someone asked about this on another forum I post at. I couldn't give them an exact answer because you hadn't looked at the game yet. Haha. I just told them the optimal return was probably the 5 coin paytable plus about 0.5% or so. In their particular example I was a bit off. They had seen the 98.39% Dueces paytable with the Super Dream Card Feature, which is 0.81% higher than 97.58% Deuces Wild.

It annoys me that this game is another title where IGT just assumes a casino doesn't want to offer a 99%+ version.

I still say Triple Super Times Pay would be awesome, where you have a third chance of a multiplier after the draw.

1) Making it about gender feels very 1970s. For our current times it should be about race.

2) Does racial bias in police work feel like it's going to the wrong place? It fits in exactly with the gender bias and the horrible police work of this answer. Screaming "John don't do it" could mean they're asking him not to squeeze the trigger. Or it could mean they're asking him not to be a hero by stepping in between the shooter and themself. To automatically target the male as the criminal with that level of evidence and no further investigation feels very close to some news stories we hear if we just replace gender with skin color.

I respectfully disagree.

Instead of being thoroughly irritated about whiffing a hand, or as many as ten, after the deal and before the draw, it sounds like I’d get the opportunity to also be furious about hitting a multiplier after I’ve definitely lost the hand.

I know now that this is not the answer you were looking for, but it was the first one that came to me:

The doctor, lawyer, and butcher were all in their work uniforms. Otherwise how would the cop know what their professions were? The doctor and butcher had on name tags, so either one of them said "John," and if they didn't, then the lawyer (or one without a name tag) was obviously named John.

She lost out to the poll option for Angie Verona.

Getting back on topic, I should point out that I was told I had the name of the name wrong. It is Dream Card Poker. It should not be confused with the traditional Draw Poker with Dream Card.

Play one line on a "modern" Double STP unit, and you can experience it already! Older units were smart enough to force the draw multiplier to appear before the last card on the bottom line was drawn.

I found this academic article purporting to tabulate four card poker hand frequencies. Can a math wizard have a look and verify the method? It’s a quick read.

I heard that...

The numbers are correct, and the method looks correct to me as well.
