Welcome to the forum, but there are easier ways to check these kinds of things than to post and ask on a forum. Vpfree paytables, for instance.
In my opinion, no one plays these two games except people who don't even know strategy. In other words, they're playing at much worse than those return figures.
Money pit, stay away from them.
Quote: bobbartop"8-5" Double Double, but not by much. They're both awful and will grind you up. 7-5 Jacks is 96.15% and 8-5 Double Double is 96.79%.

Quote: ErikaTheStrangeOther than deuces wild (and I don't want to learn a new strategy), these are the only video poker games I can find in the one casino in my town. Would I be better off just playing slots?
Usually, low payback percentages in video poker indicate that the casino has tighter slots. Given this and the choice to play either video poker or slots, I would still choose video poker. Slots will almost always have a lower return.

Thanks for the advice, guys. My general strategy is to put $20 in a quarter machine, play at five coins until I've reached (or passed) $25, cash out and pocket the $5, then put in another $20 and repeat until I've run out of $20s. At best, I've been able to quadruple my money; at worst I will lose my first $20 before I even reach $25, in which case I just call it day and leave the casino. I still have yet to hit a royal flush, but I've only been playing once a week for the past three months. I always play 7/5 jacks because the variance on the 8/5 bonus is just too high to play with a bankroll as small as $20.
Take cover. That's strange.😎Quote: ErikaTheStrangeThanks for the advice, guys. How do YOU play video poker?
One spin at a time. Your process is voodoo and unnecessary. I get you have created a game within the game by cashing out and reinserting money, which might make you feel safe and protected, but just forces you to do what could be done in a simpler process. Sounds like you could just bring $40, play until you lose it, or quit ahead when you're ready to call it quits for the day. Your name is erikathestrange , or were you referring to someone else.Quote: ErikaTheStrangeHow do YOU play video poker?
Get some good books on the subject, stop playing, and spend your time reading and learning. Bob Dancer's book for Beginners would be a good choice, there are others too. Don't play again until you understand what you were doing wrong. Good luck.
