Is there a difference in EV between the minimum bet on a high limit video poker machine versus the max bet on a low limit video poker machine assuming the same total coin in?

What about min bet high limit versus medium bet on low limit.

Yes. On VP, if you don't have max coin bet, you lose out on the Royal Flush payout bonus. With 4 coins, it's 1000 credits, but with that 5th coin, it's 4000. (unless it's a progressive, then it's likely higher)

As a rule, you'll always want to play max coin bet. If you can't afford the $5, play the $1 or .50 or .25 or even the .05. Just check your pay tables. In some cases, given the lackluster payables I see on nickel play in Mississippi, it might pay to play a 4 coins or less on a quarter machine.

A better brain than mine would have to do the math on that. No coffee yet.

Wouldn't the actual return be the same assuming you DONT hit a royal, once you hit that short coin royal then you screwed yourself, but up until that point it would the same EV for the rest of the hands correct?

A local place i go to has a bank of full pay VP all the way down the 5c denom. They dont comp these machines but you go into the High limit room and there is a full pay machine that has 1$ denom minimum. I checked the pay tables and for some odd reason the JOB royal pays 2500 on max bet, but this is just on the JOB, check the bonus games or DW and its set at the normal 4000? I found that odd.

Go look at that 2500 coin royal again. I'll bet it goes 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 as opposed to 250, 500, 750, 1000, 4000. In the case of the former, it's best to just bet one credit.

Ah, didn't think of that. Good point. I will check that out for sure. If that's the case then that machine would be the best point earning machine in the place. I ran the numbers and it puts it at 98.88% return with a 500 coin royal at 1 credit. Is there any reason to play the machine in the interest of earning comps?? dollar denom on some other machines will get you an 8/6 JOB pay table which is 98.4% return but you need max bet to get that making each bet 5 dollars. The former machine you could play for a dollar each (less than max bet on .25c denom) and still get a decent return percentage granted a royal only gets you 500 dollars. .25c denom will get you 8/5 pay table for a 97.2% return for each 1.25$ bet.

It come between a 1.00$ bet with 98.88% return vs a 1.25$ bet with a 97.2% return.
I really hate they don't comp the full pay machines, i like to earn points for my play but i am not a fan of the slots..
