Ad-5d-4c-4d-3d is a special kind of "4 to an inside straight flush" because it needs a deuce to make a straight flush, but deuces are wild.
In any other 4-card inside straight flush draw, eight cards would make the straight flush, but like you said only four cards would complete your straight flush.
Edit: In other 4-card inside straight flush draws, it's five (not eight) cards to make a straight flush and 3 cards to make a straight. Thanks Teddys!

You didn't make an error -- your math is correct. The reason the 7-8-9-10 straight flush draw is higher E.V. is because you have more outs for the SF and it's an outside straight flush draw.
--------------------------------------
It's proper strategy to hold four to the SF over the pair in DW. Doesn't matter if that SF would include the deuce.
Edit: I didn't read carefully.

Quote: teddysThe reason the higher straight flush draw is higher E.V. is because you have more outs for the SF -- the deuces plus the one inside straight flush card. (Actually, ChesterDog, it would be five cards. He would have three extra outs for the straight, though.)
The deuce of diamonds IS the natural draw to the inside straight flush. So there are only 4 outs, and no additional draws to the inside straight (those cards are the other deuces, which are wild and would make it a straight flush).

What program are you using? Sounds like crap. Download Frugal Video Poker for free from http://www.wolfvideopoker.com. It has all the games with a trainer.
