I play deuces wild for dollars. I've put in maybe 20,000 hands. I'm thinking I'm about halfway to a royal, statistically. Since I haven't hit one, is it completely ridiculous to start playing higher denominations, thinking I'm "really due" for a royal? I suspect this isn't logical. I just REALLY want to hit one. Have hit several 4 deuces for a $1000, but the royal eludes me.

I went 200k hands without one. I wouldn't move up unless you can afford it.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed.

You are never "due" for a royal.
Like GWAE said (and others likely will)....I've gone a LONG time without hitting the elusive royal. At one point I even thought they weren't possible, like a unicorn riding a rainbow made of nutella (although, that would be pretty fcking awesome!).
I usually play multi-line games, because you get through the cycle faster. From what I remember....one night I hit 3 royals on 10-play. Another night I hit 3 royals on ten-player. Another night I hit 2 royals on 5-play, 1 royal on spin-poker, and another royal on single line.
Then again, I can't even count how many times I've gone through 2-3 royal cycles without hitting one.

^ What he said.
Keep in mind you are thinking about the "average" length of time to hit a royal. The variance around that can be huge.

but remember the truth is that every time you hit that button for a new draw, you are equally likely to get a royal/royal draw.

I wouldn't suggest moving up either. I play fpdw. Only available at 25c. And am about 230k hands without a royal. Occasionally, I'll play fp ddb or db at 50c after dw gets me for 200 real fast. Each one of my 300 plus losing days, up to 700 are when I stepped up. Very painful.
