I have a question with regards to the 'proper play' of a video poker hand in Jacks or Better.
In the Wizard's simple strategy, with nothing else higher, you should hold a suited 10/J, 10/Q and 10/K.
However, in the optimal strategy table, if you have suited 10/A, the proper play is just to hold the Ace. Why?
I would think that the ultimate goal is to get a royal. not keeping the suited 10 removes that possibility.
Why is Ok to keep the suited 10/J, Q, and/or K but not the Ace? What am I missing?

I think that if the A 10 is held, the probability of a straight is less than when you hold the other hands. It is the same difference as drawing to an inside straight verses drawing to an open ended straight. There are 4 fewer outs.
