I took a screen shot of this TDB pay, because there are several elements I don't understand on this hand. I'm not going to pretend I know squat about VP variations, so I'd appreciate the most basic breakdown into elements. Just prior to this, a big wheel dropped in with values between 50 and 2000 and I spun a 150.

Questions:

1. On the top, the "Quick Quad"; that's a random triggering event where cards 2 and 4 are wild for purposes of making a 4OAK? Or is something else happening there? I don't understand this feature.
2. On the top, the kicker is an Ace. That's supposed to pay more than just a 4OAK, right? The paytable is right there.
3. Why did the spinner drop in? Was that linked to the QQ, the 4OAK, random, what? EDIT: The 7th coin puts the wheel on with any 4OAK acc'ding to paytable.
4. Why did the FH on the middle line not get paid? Or did it get paid pre-spinner and it's just not illustrated now?

EDIT: The top line says this is called "Wheel Poker with Quick Quads". I'll look around some more for pays and such.

Thanks!
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Two aces equal your fourth deuce on the middle line.

You are adding A + A (ie, 1 + 1) to be 2. So 222AA counts as 2222 because you bet the extra coins to activate the quick quads feature. That's why your 222AA paid 400.

Hands 1 and 3 were non paying hands. The quick quads logos are applying to hand 2. Why they're positioned where they are I don't know. It is confusing.

Hand 2 you have 4 deuces. 3 natural deuces and then the other 2 cards add up to equal the rank of your 3 of a kind. That is the point of quick quads. You can make quads with 3 deuces through tens if the other 2 cards add up to the rank of your 3 of a kind. There's a big writeup on it on the wizard's site.

As a note, you are paying an extra coin per hand for the quick quads feature. You're also paying an extra coin per hand for the wheel feature presumably, but that's most likely a random thing not requiring strategy. The quick quads feature does require strategy. Otherwise you are mostly throwing away that extra coin per hand. For example, when you are dealt 777AK, you would keep 777A in quick quads. When dealt 8862A you would keep 8862.

Well, holy crap, this Quick Quads thing ain't for pikers. I was just getting comfortable with the 34 ranks of DDB strategy; the QQ breaks that into 57 steps, and almost all hands depend on the particular cards dealt, not just the shape of the hand. I'm sure this sounds like whining. Just marveling at what it took to put such a thing together in the first place.
