Would you play with the same strategy for Joker Poker if it had the additional payline of a one-way sequential royal?

If you are dealt a hand that does not contain cards which can result in a sequential royal on the draw, play using the normal strategy.

If you are dealt a hand which contains 1 or more cards in position for a sequential royal, you can determine the optimal play using a standard video poker hand analyzer by weighting the prize for the royal flush appropriately.

Assuming the sequential royal pays 20,000 coins (4,000 times the bet) and a regular royal pays 4,000 coins (800 times the bet), here are the values you should use for a royal flush in a standard hand analyzer:

With 1 card in the correct position: 4666.6667 coins (933.3333 times the bet)
With 2 cards in correct position: 6666.6667 coins (1333.3333 times the bet)
With 3 cards in correct position: 12000 coins (2400 times the bet)
With 4 cards in correct position: 20000 coins (4000 times the bet)

Thanks for the response JB, when attempting to use the analyzer, I was not allowed to tweak the pay table values per your advice. Is there a step that I am leaving out perhaps?

The prizes in the paytable may not look like they can be edited, but they can - just double-click on a prize and you can replace it.

Thanks JB,

That did the trick. According to the video poker analyzer the only game on Bovada without a house edge is Joker Poker. Is there a probability of ruin table that you know of for this game as it does seem like it would be more volatile than JOB?

I might be able to put one together next week sometime. I predict that the RoR will have many 9's with anything less than an absolutely enormous bankroll, since the advantage is so small and depends on the sequential royal (a 1 in 4.5 million event) to achieve it.

Hmmm,

That is an excellent point, with that being said for the purposes of clearing an online casino bonus would you suggest a less volatile game? Here is what I found from Bovada's site using the VP analyzer:

Joker Poker 1.000459
Deuces Wild 0.989131
Loose Deuces 0.990722
Jacks or Better (1) 0.995439
Jacks or Better (3+) 0.972984
Bonus Deuces Wild 0.994502
Bonus Poker 0.99166
Bonus Poker Deluxe 0.984928
Double Bonus Poker 0.993693
Double Double Bonus Poker 0.989808
Double Jackpot Poker 0.996274
Double Double Jackpot Poker 0.993359

From this list I would still be playing Joker Poker. Even ignoring the sequential royal, the game would pay 99.98% and the overall variance of this game isn't too high. I think only Bonus, Deuces Wild, JoB are lower.

As for bankroll...the longterm will be huge. To finish a bonus, it won't be nearly as bad. I'll look into it tomorrow.
