As I get thru TSA, I get a text that the gate changed. 132 instead of 131. No big deal except I’m on the other side of the terminal, dragging my carry on.
When I finally get to the gate, the monitor says it was changed to 72. WTF? I check my phone. Sure enough, I missed a text from several minutes ago that it changed to 72 - which is very close to the TSA entry I used. Grrrr. Good thing I had extra time.
Then while waiting to board, it was delayed three times. Originally scheduled for 9:03, eventually scheduled for 9:50, we finally pushed back at 10:13, and are in the air at 10:34.
Original landing at 11:34, new landing scheduled at 12:02, actual landing at 12:17. I see my first slot machine in the airport at 12:32.
I’m staying one night at Golden Gate so I take an Uber to the Plaza so I can get a quick meal at McDonald’s. I had not had dinner yet. So after waiting online several minutes I finally get to the clerk who tells me that they’re only doing soda and pastries. Aargh!
Instead I go to Pop Up Pizza in the plaza. Good pizza. Fairly quick.
And now, at 2:02, I’m finally in my room deciding whether to call it a night, or go downstairs briefly.
One note, I love this cross promotion that they’re doing. Not only does staying at the Golden Gate get you free entry into Stadium Swim at Circa, and a free glass of champagne at the Legacy Club there, but there’s this little bit of subtle advertising: The guest Wi-Fi password is sigmaderby 😁
Maybe I should have called that Day 1, because…Quote: DJTeddyBearDay 0

Down $150 at GG craps ($15) and down $200 at GN poker 1/2 with no stories to speak of. Sigh…
But at least I got approached by two hookers.
2 First day, approached by 2 hookers, I am proud of u. What made u sooooooo attractive.
Couldn’t sleep past 7:30. Got up and went to Main Street Station for the buffet. It was a strong OK. The line for omelets was too long, or the cook was too slow, so I skipped that. Major disappointment was, no grits. I’m thinking, aren't grits like super cheap? I mean, they had lox and bagels, and even cheap lox is expensive. And the butter was ice cold. How do you spread ice cold butter? Whatever.
Then I changed and went to stadium swim. Today’s cover charge is $40. I got in free because I stayed at Golden Gate, paying a resort fee of $35.
I haven’t played yet today, but I noticed that craps at Golden Gate and Circa are $15. By the way I noticed last night that craps at Golden nugget, at four in the morning, I was $25.
Have you met me? I’m an old fat fuck, who, when walking Fremont at four in the morning, probably looks like a guy that will pay for it. Sorry to disappoint, but I’m not paying.Quote: speedycrapFirst day, approached by 2 hookers, I am proud of u. What made u sooooooo attractive.

One of the fastest way of chasing away hookers is by asking them “What can I get for three dollars?”
I’d keep that in mind, but with my luck, it would be a cop. 😵💫Quote: SiegfriedRoyOne of the fastest way of chasing away hookers is by asking them “What can I get for three dollars?”

My friend, Joan, (Mike: remember her?) who used to live in New Jersey and moved to Vegas two years ago (during the 3 week lockdown at the start of covid!) met me at the Golden Gate as I check out.
We been go to the club one desk where I pick up my free play: $75! Except it’s all a one bet coupon.
She has never played craps before, so we go to an empty table, $15, and I have her shoot for me on my $75 free play.
I coached her but she is still throwing them all over the place. At one point, she was winding up like a woman’s high speed softball pitcher!
Anyway, she made a few numbers and eventually hit the point of 8. We played a little more until she sevened out. Up $220.
Then, sounding like a typical casino hustler, she asks me for $10 since “she won that for me.” 😳
Next, she has a match play coupon from LVA for $25, which she says has to be used on BJ. I look at it, and so it could use that at craps. But she wants to use it at BJ. Whatever.
And then she says, “but you know I don’t gamble so how about you put up the money if you win we’ll split it.” Huh? She than explained it to me. But I still didn’t understand it.
So we played. 7, 6 verses the dealer’s king. Hit. 4. Stand on 17. The dealer has a jack. Well that was quick and less than fun. ☹️
Next, 1/2 poker at the Nugget. Nothing exciting but she finally went home, about even. I’m down $225 and getting ready to walk.
I meant to mention that the tables at Main Street station are only open limited hours. Friday to Sunday, 9 AM to 1 AM.
Took a walk just to survey.
Four Queens had $10 craps, $10 blackjack paying both 3:2 and 6:5 just a couple tables apart.
The D had a variety of tables non less than $15.
Downtown Grand had both $5 and $10 craps. There was a sign for one dollar blackjack, but I didn’t check it out.
Golden Nugget is still $15 craps.
Now I’m back in my room getting ready to change to go back to Stadium Swim.
Do any of the downtown casinos deal Mississippi Stud?
Thanks for the trip report... I've been enjoying it.
Dog Hand
This morning, I was at Circa’s Stadium Swim at 9 AM. I was told that the DJ starts at 10. They have a huge screen with multiple sports games showing. It is my understanding that in the cabanas, they have TVs and you could pick one of the games as well and then listen to it there.
But in the morning it was very mellow kind of a vibe even though there was music playing which I felt was a little too loud at that hour.
So I went back at 6:30 hoping to catch some of that party atmosphere. But I forgot that there’s basketball playoffs and everybody there was watching the game. On the flipside, during commercials the DJ was playing music from a wide variety of genres.
Stadium Swim is pretty cool particularly if you like sports. I’m not into sports, but I could appreciate what they’ve done. It’s a huge pool complex on multiple levels I think six pools, a couple hot tubs, and a whole bunch of cabanas.
To get there, you have to go up one of the worlds longest escalators. I timed it. 1 minute 20 second!
By the way, lunch was one Coney dog at American Coney at The D. It was pretty good.
Now I’m gonna shower and get ready for dinner, and then more poker.
It’s not really on the list of things I was looking for, but I’ll try to keep a watch.Quote: DogHandDo any of the downtown casinos deal Mississippi Stud?

I probably should I have mentioned that this started late on Saturday night and it’s now Monday, 6/6. (Yeah, I know, you can look at the post date…)
Nothing eventful last night.
Went to the D for breakfast at McD. Just like the McD at Plaza, their menu boards were down and only one self order kiosk was working.
On the plus side, I got there just as the cashier was finishing with one customer and no line so I was able to order real quickly I got my food just a few minutes. Of course once I got my food and sat down, there was a line at the cashier about the deep.
I thought they might not take it, but they did honor a two for one deal available through the McD app.
While walking I saw $15 craps at Golden Nugget, no craps open at Fremont, $15 craps and $10 BJ and other games at the D, $15 craps at four queens.
Also, the Golden Nugget price screen has interesting information which the floor man allowed me to photograph:

I forgot to follow up last night.
Joan met up with me and we ended up playing poker at Golden Nugget. I’m down $350, Joan was down considerably less.
We then went on a downtown tour just to make sure they had a good email address for me since it’s changed, and to ask about any free play we may have. Joan also had the LVA coupon book so we used that too.
First was 4 Queens. Joan played $5 on a variety of machines, 25¢ at a time. That’s right. One spin, cash out, try another machine.
She finally found a good machine, played her $5 free play and the buck and a half she had left on TITO, up to $8 that she could have cashed out but instead played it down to zero. Me? Knowing Joan approved the machine, I turned my free $5 into $3.75 money. 😁
Lunch at Magnolias using her LVA 2 for 1 coupon.
Then $10 craps. One shooter, up $170. 😁
Binion's. No free play but $10 craps. One shooter. Up $135.
Plaza. We each have all kinds of offers. Joan has $10 match play as a new player plus $25 match play from an LVA coupon plus some slot play. I’ve got $10 match play from my history plus $10 free bet which are use once chips.
She give me her matchplay tickets, and goes to play her free slot play. I step up to a $10 craps table just has a new player gets the dice.
I play her $10 coupon, 7. Her $25 coupon, 7. My $10 coupon, 11. My $10 free play, 9. Several minutes later, he makes his 9.
I play a little bit longer until Joan shows up seconds after he sevened out. Color up! Up about $165.
Then she gives me a ride to Excalibur for the opening night reception to the Table Games Conference. No additional gambling.
Nope. They’re not. Seems acceptably crowded for the table minimum‘s they’ve got.Quote: tuttigymI am enjoying the thread. I guess Vegas is not hard up for table players at those minimums.

I was wrong. There’s no rebuy, or add-ons. There is reentry. The difference is that if you bust out, you can get back into the tournament, but you’ll be put at the end of the list of any other alternates waiting to play. And it’s still full price.
There were 27 players and 22 alternates. At the end of the buy in, there were still several people waiting to get in. When they got in at that level, they got the same 13K in chips but the blinds were 1K/2K!
Anyway, Joan busted out in 22nd place, and I in 17th.
When we first got there, I noticed that they were two craps tables, only one was open, at $10, with only one dealer. After the tournament it was the same one table, two dealers. and it was $15.
I played briefly, down $45. I’m done for the day.

Day 4a
Wednesday
Hooker update:
Monday, zero
Tuesday, zero
But wait…
THIS MORNING: ONE!
The zero counts at Excalibur don’t surprise me. After all, it is something of a family friendly type place. Or I was going to bed too early, before the hookers come to work.
I decided to skip most of the conference this morning or maybe all day.
So I left at about 6:50 to walk to Ocean One at PHo.
As I’m walking through NYNY, I see her, she sees me, she walks over and says “hey what’s up?”
I guess I was asking for it by noticing her, but really? At this hour? WTF???
As I’m walking through PHo, I see there’s one craps table open, at $10, with only one dealer. Then again it was also only one player.
I’ve heard good things about Ocean One in the Miracle Mile shops so I had breakfast there. It gets a resounding meh.
After breakfast I see that that craps table now has two dealers, but still no stick person. It’s still $10 so play for a few minutes and leave up $80.
Then over to Aria to play poker for a while and leave down $22 then $15 craps and leave down $20.
Then back to Excalibur to hit the pool, shower, and get ready for the big event: Dinner and the dice challenge. I’ll let the Wizard tell you all about it, but I will say, it was interesting.
Now, bedtime. Nite nite.

HA! Nobody said Ocean One is great. It's probably the most affordable food in all of vegas (non graveyard hours). I would spend a bit extra to go to coronado cafe (southpoint), or ellis island for breakfast.
Yep, agreed.Quote: SiegfriedRoyHA! Nobody said Ocean One is great. It's probably the most affordable food in all of vegas (non graveyard hours).
Good prices for a sit-down place on the Strip. Good drink prices too. The food is OK. The burger they serve is always too well done for me, but I think I had a pretty good Mahi Mahi sandwich there once so I can recommend that.
For breakfast, we usually do Ellis Island or the Sports Bar in the Miracle Mile Shops.
But next trip we will be staying at RIO so not sure where we will be eating breakfast. Denny's ?
I do like to go to Batista's Hole in the Wall once each trip for a nice dinner in a old-school atmosphere.
Yeah, my plan already includes walking to Ellis Island tomorrow for breakfast.Quote: SiegfriedRoy… or ellis island for breakfast.

Day 5a
Thursday
I spent the day at the show, and then Joan picked me up to bring me to a little bar, to play poker in her poker league. 🤪
Now I just checked in to Harrahs.
After bringing my bags to the room, I called the Caesars poker room to get put on their waitlist. The entire time I was walking, and a little bit of just standing around, 10 minutes(!), their phone rang, and they never picked up.
So screw it, I’m now walking to Bally‘s, to check out their WSOP poker room.
Along the way I’m seeing $25 tiles at Harrahs. $15 craps at Harrahs and Flamingo, $25 at Cromwell, $15 and $25 at Bally‘s.
But who asked about Mississippi Stud? It was $10 at Harrahs, Flamingo and Bally’s, but, at the Cromwell it was — wait for it — FIVE DOLLARS!
Now I’m 3rd on the list for 1/3 in the WSOP room. 😁
Unless there are other lists elsewhere, the only games they are running right now are a 1/3, and 2/5. There’s a couple other lists which are just for interest.
Whay was I thinking?Quote: DJTeddyBearUnless there are other lists elsewhere, the only games they are running right now are a 1/3, and 2/5. There’s a couple other lists which are just for interest.

Throughout this trip your play has been quite modest, which is great. Can you give us a sense of your but-ins at the craps tables and poker play. Also, it seems that your time of play is somewhat brief. So, how long have those sessions been? I love the fact that you are quitting while up which seems to be contrary to the philosophies of a number of posters here. You know, 400+ rolls and hours of play; winning lot; only to lose it all plus your entire bankroll to the HA and producing the -EV.
tuttigym
Played for about 2 hours until I busted. Down $200.
I think my hooker drought for the last couple days was primarily because Excalibur is something of a family friendly place, combined the fact that I was going to bed early so I can get up early.
Yesterday I moved to Harrahs, which is more central strip.
Last night‘s count, four!
One smile and head bob.
Two hi, how ya doing?
And one genuine conversation which lasted about three minutes before she offered her services which was a massage. Yeah, right.
Tutti -
My buy ins are usually $200 and I rarely reload but when I do, just about her $100.
Leave while ahead? Not always. And my short sessions ate sometimes more because I have someplace else to be.
Day 6a
Friday
This morning I woke up, and walked to Ellis Island Casino to get their breakfast special and play $5 craps.
There was no line at their restaurant at that hour. I sat down and the waitress was there almost immediately bringing the menu and asking for my drink order. After asking for the root beer, she tells me about steak and egg special ($9?). No more need to look at the menu.
I then read and started to reply to one work email. What? 3 minutes? My meal came out already. And it WAS hot and good.
Word to the wise: Ellis Island makes their own beer, but they also make their own nonalcoholic root beer. And it is gooooood.
Then $5 craps. There’s one player one Dealer one stick man. I’m down a little bit before I go on our monster roll. I was up to $640 and finally left at $585.
Uber to Strat to get a souvenir of those fancy chips with about half a cent of gold foil in them.
One craps table, and it was crapless for $15. That stupid souvenir cost me $80.
Next, I decide to walk to Resorts World. In over 100° heat. What the hell was I thinking?
Right next to Circus Circus, there is a souvenir shop, that among other things, has water bottles for 99¢. Same brand, 16.9oz or 20oz, both are 99¢. Whatever.
Finally, I get to the resorts World poker room, about 45 minutes after I left the Strat. I said in on the 1/3 day for a couple hours living up over $400.
Now I’m headed back out into the heat, headed towards Harrahs to jump in the pool. Of course, I might make some pitstops before I get there….
Whoever said, “but it’s a dry heat,” was an asshole. It’s HOT.
I had to make a pitstop at the Venetian. Played 1/3 poker for less than an hour, left up a little over $200.
On the way out I saw a whole bunch of $25 craps tables.
Now I’m finally at Harrahs getting ready to go to the pool.
tutigym
Day 6c
I finally get to the pool at 5:50. I’m in and just a couple of minutes later, they start announcing that it’s closing in a few minutes. WTF! Pool closes at 6? It’s still crowded, sunny, and hot!
Then I go over to Caesars to play some 1/3. The entire 12 minute trip, I’m on the phone hoping will answer so I can put myself on the wait list. I hang up right when I get there, and complain that they don’t answer the phone. They say they don’t take phone ins at night. I said what about now that I’m here? I want to be on a list but I also want to go have dinner. Nope. Put my name on the list and hope I don’t get called before I come back from dinner. Grrrr.
Dinner was a $9 slice of pizza at the forum shops food court. It was bigger than a typical $4 slice of pizza, so I guess I can’t complain much. And it wasn’t bad.
When I got back I was third on the list. A couple minutes later I noticed I’m fifth on the list and the top two names have a DIA after them. I find out that diamond and seven stars get priority. Whatever. I didn’t have to wait much to get a seat.
A few hours later, I leave down $12, at around 11:00. As I’m walking out, the line and crowd to get into the nightclub (Omnia?) is so huge I don’t even see the entrance that I came in. So I ended up going out the front entrance, and it is still unbearably hot. As I’m walking towards Harrahs I see that the line to the club extends outside. There are a good few hundred people outside on top of the several hundred people that were inside waiting to get in.
I get to Harrahs, but not before getting approached by one more hooker before going in and losing about $40 at craps, and finally going to bed.
Saturday
I go home on the red-eye tonight.
I packed before going to bed.
Quick breakfast at the McDonald’s between Harrahs and Casino Royale, where the menu boards are also dow, but they have 10 open self service kiosks. Then I call Caesars just one more time and they answer right away to get on a waitlist. 😵💫
I play for a few hours, leaving at 10:45, up $22.
Check out is at 11:00, I don’t know if my key cards get deactivated, but I get to my room at 10:59. Perfect.
Jon picks me up a few minutes later and we head to one of her favorite places, the South Point, where we’re gonna have lunch at the buffet, and then play poker for the afternoon.
Ate at the buffet at South Point. Not bad but not great.
Played poker for a few hours when Joan decided she had enough. So I walked her to her car, and she drove me to the front where the valet is so I can drop off my bags and continue playing poker. I probably should’ve done something else because at that point I was more or less even, but a couple hours later I was down $200. Then I went to craps. $10 with automatic buys on the 4/10. Good deal, but down another $120.
Sigh. I’m done. Get me the F out of Dodge - even though loading my flight doesn’t begin for 3 hours.

I totally forgot. When I got back Excalibur, it was still pretty early in the day. 2ish. I took the tram to Mandalay Bay, and then walked south to the Pinball Hall of Fame.
Hearing that they were still an issue quarters, I came prepared with $55 in quarters. I sold them $50 and they were very appreciative. Then I played for the other $5 in various machines, had a lot of fun.
When I was done, it was getting a little late and I still wanted to hit the pool and shower before the dinner, so I took an Uber back.
When I looked at the itemized bill, there was a $2.70 airport surcharge. OK. Their property is adjacent to the airport, but it’s adjacent to the far end, near the runways. It’s actually several miles to the terminals. There should not be an airport surcharge.
I complained, five times, before a human finally looked at my case. They gave me a $5 credit. All I wanted was a $2.70 credit, but I’m not complaining.
I then made one more entry into the case, to thank them, and comment that I hope they fix their system so nobody else gets that kind of invalid surcharge.
I got another reply from a human, but this one appeared to be someone that did not read the reply about the $5 credit, and also did not mention that they would fix the error, but that they would give me a $10 credit. 😵💫
Day 7c
With those problems in mind, when I finally decided to leave the South Point, I got an Uber rate to the rental center. Closer, therefore cheaper than getting an Uber all the way to the airport. I understand that the rental center is considered part of the airport, so I was not surprised when it included the airport surcharge.
So instead, I got a rate to the convenience store on the corner about 1/10 mile from the rental center. Saved over $3 with that alone. Then, Uber said it would be 11 minutes, or I could take a different option, which could take up to 15 minutes, for $2 less. You know which way I went! I’m in no rush. 😁
The really weird part is, I was picked up in a Tesla!
Plus I saved a couple more bucks buying my snacks at that convenience store rather than at the airport. 👍
Getting through TSA was an absolute breeze. There was one person in front of me when I got to the ID boarding pass checkpoint, and less than 10 minutes later I was putting my shoes back on. Is Saturday night and unpopular flying time? You could’ve fooled me. My flight is booked, and there’s another flight to Newark an hour later, and another one an hour after that.
Anyway, I then texted my wife that I’m through security with over an hour and a half to kill. She told me to put $20 into a machine. I did so, and promptly turned that into 65¢. Since that’s less than the value of one spin, I cashed out, and gave the ticket to the change girl saying “I refuse to make you open your drawer. to give me 65¢. So here’s an extra 65¢ for you.”
After I walked away, got my gate and sat down, I start to wonder if that measly tip was being a dick. Is it?
Happy Father's Day to all.

I’m not sure. I’m bad with names, let alone funny user names. And I don’t know what the 10 large is.Quote: avianrandyDid you not try to meet up with mdawg while you were in vegas and take him up on his challenge for 10 large lol?

As I mentined, I was at Golden Gate one night, and got there around 2am. Now, a week later, details are fuzzy.
I will say that the rooms are SMALL! But the last time I stayed there, the door hit the toilet bowl requiring some considerable contortions to get in. While the door also hit the toilet, this bathroom wasn't as bad.
The one specific thing I remember was the clock, which had a dimming feature, and also clock faces on three sides, making it a perfect nightstand clock.
While details of Golden Nugget are also fuzzy, here's what I remember:
There's a considerable line at check in, but after a couple minutes, we and a few others get pulled off the line buy some saying "come with me". I joked to another couple that was also pulled off, "And this is how we die." Not so bad. We were ushered into the empty VIP check in area... just to speed things up.
Nothing special about the room except the shower was in a tub, there was a half glass wall and a curtain on the other half. And a handicap grab bar that made the working space much smaller.
Plus, the shower plumbing hooked up backwards. Turn it to the left, and the water got COLDER!
The closet had about 8 curved wood hangers with regular hooks, 4 of which had a wood cross bar, 4 had metal grab clips.
The clock was slightly larger, with only one clockface that had the wrong time, and it toom me forever to adjust. There was also the original style iPhone 40 pin connector on top. Just a couple USP ports.
Excaliber check in was all via the app after a prompt via email the day before. It made me nervous to walk into the hotel and go directly to the elevator, without a room key. Truth is, there was an option to get a key, but I didn't want to drag my luggage to the key kiosk, and was gambling that the app door entry thing would work.
And work it did, with only a minor hickup. In my effort to save battery life, I turn off everything unnecessary. And that includes bluetooth, and the bluetooth (and cellular data) option within most apps.
So when I got to my door, the app reminded me to turn bluetooth back on, and had a link for settings. I didn't realize that it only turned on the app's access to bluetooth, which was still off.
It took a minute for the light bulb in my head to go off.
I turned on blue tooth, tried the app again, and I was in my room seconds later.
That REALLY surprised me considering how long it takes to connect to my headphones - assuming it connects the first time.
Nice room, but nothing special. The shower had a regular two part sliding glass door, where both sides move. A slightly wider shower area but no grab bars of any kind, nor a place to lift your foot, making it hard to balance while cleaning your feet.
The closet had only 5 hangers which had anti-theft tabs, uncurved wood, with metal grab hooks, some of which were broken.
There was no clock at all.
I got to Harrahs around 3pm and there was a long line to check in, but only a couple people using the kiosk. I use it and a couple minutes later, I had my keys and was on my way.
The room was OK, with ample UPS ports, except some of them weren't working.
The shower had a half glass 'door' but nothing on the other half. There was a small foot shelf, and the floor was ansi-slip. Instead of bar soap and small bottles of shampoo & conditioner, there was large dispensers on the wall. There WAS also a single bar of soap at the sink.
There was no closet, but two armoire type closets next to the nightstands. Several curved wood hangers with grab clips in each, but they were anti-theft.
Only this room did not include free parking.
None of the rooms had phones or TVs in the bathrooms, no refrigerators or mini-bars, no coffee makers, and none had Gideon's Bibles. Yeah, I know, it's that last one that hurt.
Thanks for the info. I think I will stick to the accommodations in Biloxi. The local Red Roof Inn is roomier, has more amenities, and is pet friendly.
