It looks like the trend Downtown is to offer either 6/5 BJ or BJ that requires a sidebet. Like a spinning wheel. Not for me. Not sure what triggers it (maybe a blackjack?) but I did hear a lot of yelling when someone hit something good.
On days when I’m just losing, losing, losing, I need to remember there are also days with a lot of winning.
Breakfast at Magnolias. Very good as always (although I feel like their home fries are a bit greasy).
Players club said I had $18 cash and comps could cover about $20 in room charges. That was nice. Checked out of the room and stored my luggage.
Walked to Plaza. Wanted to kill some time before bingo. $10 craps. Made $200. Many people on the table got really into betting 12. Like 5 or 6 people every roll.
Bought into bingo for $40. I hit 2 games. One for $360 and another for $90. That was exciting. Literally the first dozen times I played bingo at plaza I won zero times. In the last 2 trips, I’ve won 5 games across a handful of sessions for something like $1300 total.
Stopped at the jerky store. I really like that place. I got chocolate covered banana chips. I always try to support that place when I’m in town.
Over to binions for lunch. I got the Korean chicken again. Very good but the mashed potatoes this time were watery/not as good as the day before. The side salads at binions are better than magnolias. Bigger salads, and croutons.
Back to 4Q. Hit 2222 for $100 on 10/7 double bonus. Won $95 on VP.
Walked to El Cortez. Played $10 bacc. Won $30. I wanted to play BJ but all games $15.
Back to 4Q. Another craps session yielded a $200 win. Later in the day a final craps session led to $100 profit. There was a guy in a wheelchair shooting. He had a long long roll. But occasionally the dice would go off the table or one would die before the back wall. It was not often. Like maybe 5-10% more often than average. You could see the guy was reaching to get his hand into the tub. At one point he has a die go sideways and the stick says “right down the middle, hit the back wall”. Guy standing next to the wheelchair guy says “Come on. You can see he’s in a wheelchair.” Stick said something I don’t remember but didn’t say anything after that to the guy. He rolled for 15 mins after I got there and someone else said he was rolling for over 30 mins total.
Played some face up PGP. I think I won $10. Dealer got A high 3 times in like 30 hands. I really do prefer the JJ approach.
Final gambling of the day was back at VP. Lost $90 and was done gambling.
Lanai Express In Fremont for some cheap Chinese food. I think the trick is not to get the fried food. That inevitably makes me feel gross. Fremont has converted what was the buffet space into a really nice food court. Legitimately a nice clean modern space. Lots of slot machines there too.
Trip total: I haven’t done a count but I think I might be up around $1500
Woot woot, congrats !Quote: TinManTrip total: I haven’t done a count but I think I might be up around $1500link to original post
Vegas rider, how much/many cards should I play in my first session of bingo please? Also, r u the Reno expert please?Quote: VegasriderThe trick to Bingo is playing a session with fewest people possible and loading up as many cards into the machine as possible without validating your cards for the cash ball. You want to monopolize the room and get as many bingo as possible. Validating your cards gets expensive over time and that in my view I consider a different or independent game. I avoid rooms or sessions that has a high progressive for the cash balls.

TinMan made me want totry out Bingo when I'm in Vegas in a few weeks then yours made me want to run away. I have no idea what most of your first sentence means. No one in our group has ever played. I thought we'd just stroll in and buy some cards. Apparently there's more to it.

I say give it a shot if you’re at Plaza. Definitely do get a players card and go to the kiosk. Even with zero plaza play, you should get $25 match play vouchers. Do not pay full price. So I get a card that is $40 net ($65 - $25 voucher). Everything is done by the machine so you can’t screw it up. If you win, it will show WINNER in large flashing letters and play a song. You can’t miss it.
They do sell other packages. One was $50 and one was $67. I just stick with the $40 one. If you ask anyone there what the difference is, they will be very nice but it won’t make any sense. They’ll talk about “dual dob” and green vs blue. I just say get the $40 package.
You’ll get a receipt with a number at the top. Type that number into any machine and you’re logged in.
You get 2 drinks free. There’s a bartender. I suggest getting both drinks at once because it’s awkward to get up while the game is going on.

Yep, a blackjack triggers the wheel at the Golden Nugget. At first, I was a little miffed that a $2 wheel bet was required to play $5 minimum 6/5 blackjack. But fortunately not too long into the session I got a blackjack and a $40 wheel prize. The dealer said that's uncommon ($20 is the usual win), so I colored up and finished slightly ahead!
