So, I barely slept last night - although I would usually chalk that up to pre-Vegas excitement, it is par for the course over the past few months dealing with insomnia.
I arrived at the airport this morning and, once again, was surprised by the number of people who still have no clue how to get through the TSA check expediently. One guy was trying to carry on 3 small suitcases --thus causing the line to slow to a crawl as he was notified that he would actually have to check 2 of his suitcases. People people people - we have all been through airports and know the rules - you re not going to get around baggage fees by claiming every piece of your luggage is carry on. Just stop it - please.
A friend of mine picked me up at the airport and we stopped at Green Valley Ranch - never been there before but it seemed like a low key place to play.
I grabbed a Starbucks cold brew and caffeinated myself after the early start to the day and headed over to The Cromwell to check in.
Although the room is small - I would say it is a "sexy" room:

So, I am settling in and relaxing a bit, might the a quick nap and then hit the Strip!

Can you make me less confused. What happened to your blogs and why did you change from bcd and then the other one, then nothing and now the other one again? Hope that makes sense, but sure if you want them mentioned in name so I am being cryptic.

Well, I had blogged using blackchipdiary but ran into some issues as certain people IRL knew that name and I did not want them knowing about my casino exploits -- then, I switched to epicesquire and have been using that since (all prior blog posts were migrated to that site)

You're welcome. You might want to fix the pictures though. Some aren't showing.

Hmmm they are all showing for me...
Anyone else having an issue with the images?

The bottom 2 aren't showing, at least on my end. And the picture of the hallway loads very slow. Causing everything to freeze for a minute. Could just be my phone.

The last two images are actually short videos - could be your phone - I am on my laptop on hotel WiFi and they are loading immediately
Welcome Back AOS.Quote: aceofspadesThe last two images are actually short videos - could be your phone - I am on my laptop on hotel WiFi and they are loading immediately
I don't think mp4 videos work in an image tag like that. Not working for me in Chrome
Welcome back bud! Hope all has been well for you and look forward to your crazy shenanigans/stories.
Are you planning on attending the spring fling? What's the focus of your current trip? Still down with blackjack??

Do you know of an alternate way to post an mp4 ?

Indeed it is me!
When is the Spring Fling?
Yup - blackjack will always be my love
Quote: BozWelcome back Ace, like most everyone, always enjoyed the reports! Hope all is well!
Thanks Boz - glad to be back
(please delete if posting that link is against the rules)

HAHA - is there a plague of others telling others how to play here lately?

No sadly your honesty seemed to always bring out others giving you unsolicited advice. Was making an attempt at humor and to make sure you stick around. Like all of us, you are who are and this place is better with you here. Now go win some damn money.

That is the plan - I take all advice in a friendly way - it's when people believe I am making up stories that annoys me
Quote: aceofspadesSo I just went looking for ice at The Cromwell and, after a fruitless search, asked one of the housekeeping staff where the ice machine was -- she informed me that there is no guest access to the ice machines -- hotel guests must either find housekeeping staff to obtain the ice or call the front desk and they will send a bellman up with it -- this seems very strange to me
Perhaps that is how they check to make sure guests aren't setting up guns in tripods.

Ace, buddy! I was thinking of getting
ahold of you the other day and had
forgotten how. I'm jonsing for

I thought the exact same thing as Romes.
It's great to have you back Ace!!

This is how the schadenfreude begins.
You're always so upbeat and happy
before the games begin. This is what
us schadenfreuders depend on, so
when the gnashing of teeth and the
rending of clothes start, it's all that
much sweeter.
I think I still have the AoS voodoo doll
around here somewhere, where did
I put it.. Remember those threads
from 2013? The Lady in Red, being
down $5K, the voodoo doll. Good
times..

Thanks Axel -- I crashed after dinner -- jet lag, insomnia over past few months, just woke up -- do I venture out now to play?

At the Linq, right?
Like right now, I am wide awake and thinking of going to play, but then, I can foresee myself sleeping all day and losing out on a day in Vegas by staying in bed
Quote: aceofspadesAnyone deal with prolonged insomnia and altered sleep schedules? For the past 6 months, my body has somehow converted to being nocturnal. Some days I sleep 3 hours -- then the next day I will sleep 15 hours -- I have tried sleeping pills but they leave me in a fog the next day - I really want to get back to a normal schedule ( you know, sleeping 11pm - 7am ± )

Yeah, that’s basically me. Think I went to sleep around 8am last night (technically this morning but whatevs).
It’s really tough to fix, especially if you’re used to that type of sleeping schedule for a long period of time. Traveling sure won’t help, either. But essentially you just gotta force yourself to go to sleep at 11 and wake up at 7 or whatever, do that for like a month and no cheat days, then you should be back to normal. I can fix my sleeping schedule and it’ll last for a week or two, but then invariably I’ll go on a trip and have to be up “late” playing or traveling and it’ll reset to going to sleep at 4am, then it just gets worse each day.

I thought the time zone change would help but - at least on the first day, it hasn't
Tried forcing myself to stay awake for 24 hours last week but didn't make it and crashed -- I am in a mobius loop of nonsensical sleep cycles
#WhereIsMyIce
Bob - are you getting any schadenfreude from me being without ice?
Quote: aceofspadesSo I ordered ice over 20 minutes ago - the front desk said that they do not allow guests access to the ice machines so as to give the guest a higher level of service -- all it has done so far is annoy me -- why can't I get my own ice, when I want it?

Thats very odd. Even the slummiest of hotels/motels have ice machines.

The Cromwell holds itself in high regard apparently (it's now been almost 40 minutes)
Ice, ice, my kingdom for some ice

2. Vegas arrivals coming from the west happen in the middle of the night. The graveyard bellman is probably alone and schlepping bags for the small number of Asian guests checking in.
3. it's not a service for *you* that the ice must be delivered, it's a service for the other guests who now don't need to hear the ice machine at 3am:-)
4. Palace Station? Green Valley Ranch? Who ARE you? :-) GVR is a great place. Quiet, great rooms, good food...but I don't think they have even one straight 3:2 blackjack table.
