Missed last weeks meetup but drove from Greenville SC up the mountain to hangout with some friends at Cherokee last night. Arrived about 8pm, took the 74 around instead of 19 through Maggie valley since it was cold and dark, it "adds" 5 minutes per GPS but no possibility of getting stuck behind slow traffice as 74 is two lanes in each direction with no stop lights.

Arrived and the hotel self park deck is closed (due to damage) and the casino self park is packed. Drop stuff in my buddies room and hit the floor. Pretty full, normal limits but 6 craps tables are open, and 4 are $10. Meetup with my friends playing a five dollar miss stud game. I hate this game but we play for about an hour. I hit trips once with 10 ante so that was a Nice little score. Leave the table up $100

Hit craps. Three full 10 tables, I start at an empty 10 table, just me and another shooter. Neither of us can get anything started. Move to another full table, have a couple good shooters but lose $300 overall. Good dealers didn't have any of the problems mentioned in last weeks meetup. One rookie who wasn't real confident but he was competent.

Try to find my friends and end up going to essence to get their decent draft beer. This is the thing that irritates me about Cherokee. I'm already paying for alcohol but the cocktail servers can't even get the good draft beer from essence, I have to walk over to get it. End up playing $15 blackjack until about 3am.make some decent runs play the +3 bet some even though it's terrible but it's fun when the whole table is playing it. End up up at BJ $200 so trip overall is even.

Start walking back to the room and walk past a new table game. Cherokee now has Digital PaiGow Poker! PB And dealer said it was just installed last week. They have two tables both high tops, one in Asian room and one in main area across from craps. I played for about 30 minutes $10 min. 5% com on wins, they use quarters. It's entirely digital except for the betting. The dice, and cards. Similar setup to poker pro. The cards are dealt face down on your screen you hold down it shows your hand then you select the low hand. It warns about missets. There's a dealer PaiGow bonus bet that pays 1:1 on any player PaiGow also. Game WAS NOT fun digitally. Probably will be gone within 6 months. Chatted with the PB and dealer they both said they haven't gotten lots of action so far. Both were familiar with the game with real cards and agreed too much is lost in the move to digital. Lost $50 playing for a half hour.

Ran into a friend and we played let it ride for about 30 minutes. I hit nothing lost $50 and got tired and went to the room for sleep. Total lost $75 (had a $25 cash coupon). Drove back home this morning. Had a cheddar Bo biscuit on the way home, delicious.

Missed last weeks meetup

sorry we missed you

Took me a while to understand what you mean.

We found tables were generally $15 and many were more, with maybe one at $10, so you did better finding that percentage at lower limit, wonder why the difference? We also found some cold tables LOL, although somehow I myself managed to luck out when some got hot for a while.

you might get the award for best trip report for recent post re cherokee!

I reread it today and not sure what I was trying to say, I think I forgot a few words in my late night post.

I was in Charlotte last Saturday and could have in theory made it up on Sunday but with the weather plus already coming up this weekend just couldn't pull the trigger last week

The GPS does not calculate the trip correctly from Maggie Valley (rte 19) to Cherokee.
The speed limit is 45, but there is hardly any place you can do 45. I like to drive fast, and can take corners at speed with confidence, but that road is not fun to drive fast.
74 is by far the fastest way to Cherokee, even though it is a bit longer.

It's too bad about the electronic Pai Gow table, because now they will use that as an excuse not to put in Pai Gow. They'll say they tried Pai Gow and no one wanted to play.

It will be interesting to see what happens out there after the new casino in Murphy comes on line in the fall.
