Arrived for an over nighter - my first trip back to AC since November

Sat down to play a mini-session while waiting for room and in 2 shows was up 1200

Checked into the room and went back down to survey the scene and play some more...

High limit room had 4 tables open, 2 of which were RESERVED

Something that got on my nerves was the dealer's fingers (2 female dealers had band aids on them) and the cards were sticking with each draw from the shoe--made for a dizzying stutter effect

So I began the next session playing one on one
First hand was 7,7 v dealer 7
Split
First hand: 7,4 doubled got an 8 for 19
Second hand: 7,10 for 17
Dealer had 7, turned over a 4...drew a 3 then a 7
Ughhhhh

The next two shoes were more of the same, losing 7 of 9 (no Star Trek reference intended)

Trip is -1700

I knew it was GN when when you said
they had reserved tables. I've seen
roulette tables reserved at GN. Nobody
playing, just sitting there, reserved.

Ace why would a happening young man such as yourself content himself with the 1950s atmosphere of the Golden Nugget?

At your level of play you can have RFB at any club in town, and you choose the one that is currently the closest existing incarnation of Mission's Revel Nursing Home idea.

Is late surrender that important to you? I would think having a good time is far more important to you than a slightly better blackjack game. Also other properties have the benefit of comping you things you'd actually like and enjoy.

It's NOT a nursing home, those are for people who require around-the-clock care: it's an assisted living facility.

Why do you have so much respect for such an obvious corporate-speak euphemism? Assisted-living facility is just a marketing term. They're all nursing homes. Different patients require different levels of care in any type of facility.

I was talking about Vegas. I have suspected
they put reserved on them because they
don't have enough dealers. It makes no
sense to be crowded and have a closed
roulette table just sitting there. Keep it
open till the person it's reserved for arrives.

And each state specifies specific criteria of need and care to determine the level of care. Each name connotes an extremely specific different level of service and responsibility in each state.

They are different, there are different license requirements, staffing requirements and everything like that. Assisted living facilities, as I have stated, are mostly just for people that have physical limitations. Nursing homes are for people that require around the clock care and observation, shots, BP/Heart monitoring, catheters, things of that nature. A nursing home is a medical facility in the truest sense whereas an assisted living facility is more of a residential facility with assistance.

Well, just woke up from my nap on the couch in front of a great movie, it's now 11:45PM. Hard day with a couple of huge jobs pending and needing to be completed. When I read the board I envy you and those that drive with that anticipation of winning some cash and then crap like this happens. Hey, bro--been there and down that when I lived in North Jersey. Blew the entire bank roll and got that sickening darn feeling in the pit of my stomach. I hate it. Left AC at Midnight, jumped into a Dunkin Doughnuts and got a large coffee and a couple Doughnuts for the miserable ride 120 miles north up the parkway. All the time planning and plotting the next move, go get some more cash or wait a week or so??? The only thing that kept me going was those $30k, $50k or $100k wins. But you know what, I have more fun now with going 3 or 4 times max a year than I did before.

So, I wont say, 'pat you on the back and tell you it will be okay', but when you go back next time, smack them back and take an exit when you are positive. Only you know the amount that you can lose and the amount you should leave when ahead. Be positive and never look back, never.

I gave up Blackjack a while ago, play only occasionally. Seen my wife play at Caesars in Vegas last week. She started with $2,500.00 and 8 free play tickets I had of $225.00 each. She won about $5k and then went down and up and then lost it all. I watched the dealer constantly turn over a 4 with a 6 or 7 in the hole and then a 9-10 or Ace. I mean like 15 times in a shoe. I walked away, I hate that game. My wife would win double downs with a 3 or 4 or 5 on top even when the dealer was showing 8's, 9's, 10's., etc. Then when my wife had 2 monkeys the dealer would push or win, almost every time. The floor person in the high limit told us that was happening the same way all night. I watched people go through $25k to $100k in a shoe or two. I walked away to the baccarat table and had a good time.

Six decks, 75% penetration, heads up, 5.4 hands per round, blackjack every 21 hands on average. Looks like, statistically, the dealer should have had two blackjacks. Fifteen minute shoe?

I have a friend in North Jersey and we used to meet up a lot in AC in the 90's and early 2000's. He used to do very well by standing and letting the dealer bust when more often than not, he would have busted. That is one of the true advantages to BJ whereas the player can opt, not to take a card. Strategy and AP play is fine, but its the 'out of stats' and the 'short term' 5 or 10 shoes that the stats don't apply to anyways. I also rather not cite when he would stand or not cause all that will do is cause a blurry of criticism, how out of basic strategy the play really was.

The same as sitting down at a baccarat table and having natural 8 or 9 and the other side ties or beats you for like 15 times in one shoe, unusual but happens more often then you think possible. Again, I can win 25 straight hands with a 6 or less in baccarat but then when I get a 7-8-or 9, I cant prevail. I blame the gambling gods, no one else.

AGAIN, that's me and my trend/traits. I would have to soul search long and hard to remember wining/recovery when I lost a sizable or all my bankroll and then drew out more or went and got more and then recovered.

BJ sucks, take up bac. You'll have more fun,
lose less, bet less, and the table energy is
much better. You can't screw up another
players hand and he can't screw up yours.
So you end up all rooting for each other,
it makes a big difference in the type of experience
you're having.

Not the most you ever lost, BJ sucks. Frank said
in an interview that he lost $12K at BJ once and
had to go to his room and lie in the fetal position
for a few hours. Nobody likes to lose.

At times correct but tell the other half. At the big table--south side versus the north side; Asians against whites; table min player attempting to knock out the larger players; larger players refusing to get un an unbelievable long streak and losing hundreds of thousands, etc., etc., the lost goes on and on.
