After 8 months of planning and saving, it's that time. I landed in Vegas at 8:10am and had my rental car by 9:30. By 1:30 I had driven the 2.5 hours to Springdale, UT and Zion National Park. The bad news is I had to work Sunday and haven't had any sleep for nearly 30 hours. The Quality Inn has free Wi-Fi, and the view from my patio is stellar. The place is empty. I have it all to myself.

I'm feeling good about the trip. Will be adding photos when I'm back in Chicago. I have a busy schedule. Tuesday I have to pick up 3 myVegas rewards. LOVE' Brad Garretts Comedy club and a free breakfast at Delights Cafe. I hope to make sometime to gamble. I know I will and hope to bring home the gold and share pictures of a large pile of cash.

Well I managed to sleep 12+ hours. Free breakfast starts at 8. The Zion shuttle is not running so I will be able to drive the valley floor. It a good and bad thing. I was hoping to hike in and take the shuttle back. Now I'll be driving in and out with little hiking. Driving the floor is a rare opportunity so I'll have to enjoy it. Should be in VEgas around 5pm.

Got in to see the park in daylight and actually did a little hiking. I found this stream and followed it up hill. Took pictures of the cascades along the way. There was a dipper doing it's thing but I was too far away to get a good shot. A final note about the Quality Inn, the campground has a few decent sites along the Virgin River. This time of year would be perfect for camping. Not so sure I would want to bake here in the summer though.

Next stop Las Vegas!

Made it into Vegas about 1:30. Checked into my room at Rio and drove to The Mirage. I sat at a 25 dollar table and played about 20 minutes of a 6 deck game with a player to my right. It was a tough shoe but I cashed out 300 up. I stopped by the myVegas desk and picked up my ticket to LOVE. I then played 10 dollar table and left even. I only played 4 or 5 hands. I was uncomfortable with the new dealer. I was up 5 bucks an gave it to the dealer.

I drove to the MGM and played at 10 dollar tables. The first the guy to the right would wave off 16's sticking me with the 10's. It was as hard shoe and lost 95 and tipped 5. A went to the life desk to get my free pizza at Delights. The pizza tasted good. I wanted the french toast but that's a huge walk and I had enough. I sat at another 10 dollar table and played most of it. I cashed 120 up. On the way out I picked up my Brad Garrett's ticket.

So far I am up 320 and have tipped 30. I was hoping for 500 to put into a slot machine here at the Rio. It may still happen. It's suppose to be a5 dollar machine, but the one at the mirage had 2 max bet. I'm overlooking Gold Coast thinking about popping in to see the casino. Looks like a long walk from 13 floors up.

Vegas really is a magical place. For us guys who call it home we sometimes forget the simple pleasures of looking out at the strip from your hotel room and seeing all the bright shining lights. Also you have the worlds cuisine at your fingertips, all the gaming you could want, you could get a hooker in your room within half an hour if you so wished, sports betting, horse racing, shopping, eye candy.......

Easy to forget why we all love Vegas so when you live there.....

Have a good time bud!

Gold Coast = Literally across the street from Rio. Hard to get much closer than that. As far as your slot adventures, I would suggest finding and hitting Lion's Share at the MGM Grand. If you are unfamiliar with it, feel free to google search it. It has its own website and more recently obtained its own Twitter account. It's been there seemingly forever and has never hit the progressive jackpot. Mission called last year to confirm that the person who does eventually hit it (over 2.3 Mil now I think) will win the jackpot and get to keep the machine. Awesome.

It's a $1 machine with a max of $3/pull. Obviously you need to play the $3 per spin at the risk of hitting the jackpot on $1 and only winning $10k or something like that versus $2.3 + Million.

Here's the thread in here about it... https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/slots/12066-lions-share/

Although I dream of winning it for myself one day, a fellow WoV member taking it home would be a nice consolation prize.

I guess that can be fortunate or unfortunate, depending on your point of view :)

Myself I'm much more of a sports betting guy. The hookers in Macau are far more aggressive than the ones in Vegas. DO NOT go to the Venetian Macau if you are a man on your own. You will get about 30 propositions before you got even half way through the casino.

They've all been hit s17. I'm finding different rules compared to the survey here.

I played the slot for 230 and lost. I did get 47 tier credits. Then I put 20 into a 4 card keno machine and lost but I got 11 true credits. Should have just plunked the 250 into the keno and scored 220 tier credits. I then played let it ride for 50 and lost 40. Put the last 10 on 10 roulette numbers and lost. Sat at a 2 deck game and cashed out 140 up and left a 5 dollar tips. Blackjacks paid 6:5. I got one. I left after I lost a 35 bet. Not doing as well as I had envisioned, but I am winning and it's not the blackjack that's taking my money.

Based on the amount I got to Vegas with I'm up $184.00. I still have 2 full days here and as many hours as I make Friday as my plane leaves at 5pm' and intend to pick some football parlays.

Then shower doesn't drain and I didn't bring my drain snake that I use to clear the drain at home.

I'm glad to know that the best six deck game in town can be found at $10 minimums, at least during the week.

I won't chastise you for playing 6:5 blackjack but why? Did you find a weak dealer or something?

Will you have a chance to visit the downtown area? I hear they have a great single deck game. :-)

I would have had to hit the strip. For now I'm just looking at it like it doesn't matter unless I get a blackjack. To say that had I played those 12 hands without hitting a blackjack' it like saying I walked away up 135 while leaving a 5 for the dealer. Should the house he only be factored in for this situation if a player doesn't get a hand that effects the house edge? If I had seen more than one blackjack would that have increased the house edge more than seeing 1 or none? It might take 3 to have the edge close to max. A 25$ blackjack nets 12.5 at 3:2 and 5$ at 6:5.

I'm awake. Feet are sweaty. Just thinking how I'm going to attack the day.

I have a to get to a comedy club at MGM for 8 pm tonight so that will get me loser to 3:2 blackjack.

The slot I played is called triple diamond with cheese. 1 line 3 reels. You build a cheese burger by rolling a die in the bonus round. It's the only I've played without hitting the bonus.

Will do. Tuesday the were 10$ tables if you're keeping score. 3 of the sessions I played should have been at 25 minimum. The 1st was played at 25. I chickened out and it's worked in my favor so far. 2 of those shoes would have killed me at a quarter. The hard one for sure. The tough one is a tough call as I managed to break even.

My apologies to the OP, this will be the last time I skew from the thread.

Dicenor the difference is the girls in Vegas get the money from you by pick pocketing you after you pass out. I have HEARD the girls in Macau are not quite as devious. All you have to worry about with them is the upsell :)

wroberson, early AM there should be $10 3-2 six deck BJ at Mandalay Bay. Rules are h-17, no surrender, DAS. Rules aren't great but the dealers at least are relatively friendly :)

The tub still hasn't drained. Tomorrow's shower is going to suck. Standing in my own filth...

There were plenty of 10 and 15 dollar tables at MGM. Many are machine shuffled, but there's several hand shuffled tables at those amounts. It was another tough night. Sat down before the stand up an lost 100 including tip in about an hour. I was in the danger zone, but caught a hand with my largest bet of 110. I played a bit longer and cashed out down 100. All are H17. I haven't seen a S17 yet.

The stand up was fun. All three comedians were great and the audience was in tears. I'm bad with names but you can find them online if interested. After the show I sat at another 15 minimum table and played for another hour. It was hard. Every time I was close to breaking even, a double down would come along and knock me back. A few hands into the 3rd shoe, I broke out and managed a win. Left the table up 150.

I am up 230 for the trip. Up 65 if I start with the money I had at home and up 230 with the money I had when I got to Vegas. Not the 2k I was hoping for, but it's better than losing. Maybe Thursday I see another big win.

Dinner time!

As a general statement, suffice to say that for less than $200.usd you can spend four or five hours in a "spa" in Macau and enjoy everything from head to toe plus food.

Regarding the other point, you are both wrong. In Bangkok where I stay you don't even have to leave the elevator. Point, hold on to the "door open" and within ten seconds she(or in some cases, he who looks like a she) will be inside and the elevator, it gliding back up towards your floor. I kid you not. It's that sick and perverted. Las Vegas "escorts" are generally considered a big joke to Asian residents and ExPats.

It's raining and Flamingo Rd is a river. Still can't see the mountains but the air is clean and the layer of haze is gone.

Headed over to Gold Coast for there was nothing going on here at Rio. Lots of 2 deck5 and 10$ tables. I played a few shuffles. 1 was with a dealer who was being tested. Several cards hit the floor. I was pressing losing bets and like so many times before the house could not come up with the 1 card to knock me out. Instead, I doubled the 11 and caught the 10. I also made a couple of side bets where 20's with 1st 2 card paid out. I caught a JK club flush for 50 and and then 2 blackjacks in a row. 1 of those included a bet for the dealer. I dropped another nickel for the dealer and left.

Picked up another 85 dollar win.

I also fixed the tub. It drains now. That 150 in labor please.

You'll find the S17 tables at MGM between the craps pit and the Rouge lounge. I have seen them as low as $10, but sometimes even on weeknights you can't play in that pit for less than $50.

I just finish a 6 hour grind at Gold Coast. I dug myself a deep hole early on and fought my way back. It took 4 hours to get back to near even. another hour to get even and another hour to get over the hump. I cashed out 115 ahead. they had me down twice, but I was able to catch a card and things went up from there. I did best head2head. The game was 2 deck h17 at a 5$ table. How you dig a hole 500 dollars deep at five bucks is simple. Chase your losses. I played my worst and my best.

If I include the two parlays I'm up 248.00.

My flight is delayed so I have one more shot at a big win.

Love was very cool. I enjoyed it a lot.

Sitting at the car return waiting. My flight is delayed to 940pm. I managed to grab another 165 at Gold Coast. This time it was a 300 dollar hole I had to climb out of. The trips was a positive gain. I also have 3 parlays good for 1400 max. Not sure I have any interesting photos. I didn't shot the slot machine. Don't have a killer slot ticket to share and the small profit I made isn't very impressive.

Judging my play, getting in deep and checking out on the shallow end of the pool, I could be a desired customer.

At the airport an the flight is delayed until 10pm.

I'm home from Vegas. The flight back was only 2 hours and 51 minute due to the 100 knot tail wind.

Thanks for reading and commenting. And, I'm sorry for it's crudeness. It's so hard typing without a standard keyboard.

I am up 325.00 plus 100 in football parlays. The trip cost me cash out of bank, 504 and change. So, I nearly won enough to cover it, which was my main goal. TR covered the resort fees for me.

If anyone takes SPIRIT air, you can get 50 bucks in match play chips at the D. I guess that's downtown. All you need to do is save your boarding pass and take it to the D's player's club desk WITHIN 24 HOUR of arrival. the offer ends March 15th 2014. I will be getting mine on December 10th.

My next trip is December 10 thru 13 and I'll be posting here. Again without a keyboard, it's not going to be pretty.

I never ran into a S17 table, but there were tables at every limit 5-100.

Play safe. Or not...

Just a final recap and profit loss statement.

When I got home I spent 100 before hitting the bank and pad my auto insurance. After depositing my gold in the bank, the bottom line went up 200.00.

The cost of the November trip $504. After all was said, done and spent, the finally tally was a total cost after expenses and money spent at home over the weekend is -$179. Not bad for any vacation, but not too good for someone trying to make a profit playing blackjack. I am super thrilled anyway.

My next trip is just 10 days away. The cost for this trip is only $312 thanks to the $30 airfare I picked up several weeks ago for a one way ticket and paying full for the return trip. The goal is the same, to win. I've found a house with decent rules and limits and can play within my comfort zone without having to track down a low limit table. The only drive I'll be making is to the D to redeem my $50 match play.

Working on a January trip. I can get RT air to under $200 and free room at any MGM property, plus another $50 in match play. The car so far is 104. It's running close to $325 for 3 days. This trip is dependent on a good win in December.

What games do you plan on playing on your upcoming trip and will you be counting at blackjack? Have a good trip and for goodness sake, if the bathtub clogs again pick up the phone and call someone!

I'm back in Vegas staying at the Rio. The trip has been a nightmare so far. I get to the rental car place and didn't have 350 for the hold on the car. The card is a low limit card with a limit of 320. Thirty was inflexible and denied my rental. 2 hours later Budget helped me out and set me up with a rental. I will never do anything with Thrifty. I will not suggest Thrifty. I hate thrifty. Take the skateboard. You'll be better whacking your balls on a park bench.

The trip hasn't been an entire loss. I signed up for a spirit credit card. Just doing the application got me a free ticket. 2500 mile will get me a one way ticket. 120 to me. The plans are changed and I will be pouting in my room all night. No games. I still have 50 waiting for me downtown at the D.

Until something happens...

Never use Thrifty. They want way too much of
a CC hold. Use Hertz or Alamo. Screw Thrifty.

Yeah. So the car rental shot up from 64 to 154. I'm just going to relax and locate my center again. Might as well skip the free Miles too. I can't find a flight for 2500 miles. Liars. At least it's not 12 degrees out.

I think the best part to this story is the 8000 in credit cards sitting on my dresser.

Well, I drove to the Tillman Bridge and walked across. I enjoyed it an took some pictures. At the Arizona side there's a barricade with "I was here" graffiti. Can't wait to see what's on it.

From there I went to D on Fremont got 50 match play for even money bets. I walked out 6.50 up. Talked with a guy in line for the cashier. He turned his match play into 300. So,it can be done and that made the match play a deal. Playing machine controlled blackjack is not my forte. Walked over to the Fremont . No decent tables or seats at the same. So I went over to the 4 Queens.

t 4Q, I sat to play. I waited and waited and the dealer refused to expose the machine shuffle of the deck until I was given my chips. I played about 5 carousels never got ahead and lost 75. The game is impossible. At any minute the cards could go on auto pilot dealing loser after losing hand. My only winning hands were playing against basic strategy. Standing on 15 v 10.

My serious opinion is not to play shuffle master blackjack. Even when it's your only choice. If you do, stand on hard hands more often than unusual. Do not double down. Take the 20 dollar win when or if you get there. I have 0% confident that the cards will ever be shuffled to a point where all the hand in a single will be winners born the player. Or to produce a string of winning hand for player. The whole carousel depends on the cut. And I may be way off thinking there's a winner in there somewhere

I've got 27 hours to get my 75 back. I'm feeling pretty good. Getting across that bridge was a good call and has helped get me back into a positive state of mind.

That's 51 hours as I leave Friday. 5pm

I think the post was more about my lack of confidence in the shuffle. It's hard not to go to conspiracy in that situation when you can read the manual and what they can do when not in game mode. The 300 million at stake. Entire communities looking to steal their piece.

At Rio, the shower drains and housekeeping has been vacuuming under the coach and chair cushions. I really like this marble table. Weighs a lot and is too close to the sofa. This room is pretty stained. 13th floor close to elevator. Vies of Caesar's backside, wheel. I've been watching the Moon and it's looks like they did a good job aligning it for sunset.

I believe there has been research done wherein a completely unshuffled deck (i.e. take 6 decks of discards and just start dealing them again) doesn't change the house edge. Obviously if you know the patterns, then you can take advantage of it. But I don't believe a poor shuffle will make it worse for BS players. Just better for shuffle trackers :).

Now if you are postulating that they may be using non-game mode in game situations to stack the deck...well then now we're back in conspiracy mode.

8 hours of blackjack and I was never ahead. Same story. I dug a hole early and spent the next 6 hours trying to get out. Then the cowboys started playing. It was pretty busy and there was no where to sir. I left when a blonde sat down. Taking the cards off the table. Using two hand. The pit boss was all over it. I'm down 675 for the trip not including expenses like food gas soda. I pushed a double when I had my largest bet of 85. I did better one on one with 2 decks. I stand with my shuffle master statement. I had a few decks where all had were winners or mostly winners. Once I was betting over minimum, but I was already down so it got me back up to 200 down. That was most likely the best time to leave.

I have money left to bet on football this week. There's a slim chance I could win there. A few parlays good for 800. Maybe some low cost parlay cards. I'm looking into it...

Looking at the 2 trips. I did a lot.

Total cost 987
Loss 675.

It's really close to the cost of a week vacation. When I come back, I'm likely to play 6 decks instead of 2.

Gambled away another $140.00. This time on football. Sure I could have have gone back to the horse racing machine. The $140 bet can net me $35,625 if I managed to avoid covering too many games. It'll keep me going until depression induced hibernation sets in for the winter, but I'll likely see if I can get back into Domino's and triple my income.

Seek help.

I've tried that but all I seem to get is sarcasm. Maybe it's the people I am seeking help from that is an issue here.

Love the cartoon Bob.

The final numbers on this trip was a loss of $540.00. Had New Orleans won, I would have been up $1700.00.

Losing didn't feel as bad as it had in the past. I had 9 days total in Vegas for less than $1500.00. It's less than most people pay for 4 days, and the entire year was a blessing with 1 trip to Yellowstone and 3 trips to Vegas. People are lucky to get a Staycation let alone 4 vacations in 52 weeks.

On another note, I would like to put here, is that, I now have 2 R/T tickets to Vegas, or 50,000 Southwest miles which I am willing to break up into 5 one-way trips to anywhere SW flies, and 41.1 grams of Pamp Gold in Assay, plus a 10 ounce bar of silver. I also grabbed some Xmas gifts. May be picking up another 10 grams of gold as long as no one here logs into ebay. (no. I did not buy my PM's on eBay)

Until
