My resoning is that plenty of people will not step up to a table gme because they do not know how to play and are afraid of looking foolish. Others will not play because "the odds are stacked against them." Still more will play only poker because "there is no house edge" (other than rake."
So what about a face-up poker varriant with several rounds of betting?
Say you have a seven-spot table and $10 minimum. Everyone gets 2 cards. At that point you can fold or continue for another $10. Repeat for rounds 4 and 5. The casino rakes 5% with a $5 minimum and $20 max. At 60 hands/hr this is $300 min for the casino.
It seems to me this would be a bit less mindless than Casino War yet not scare away people as the poker room does. Someone will win every time yet no players would refuse to "play against a player banker" like in Pai Gow Poker. Admitidly it is not for everyone but what casino game is?
Any thoughts?

Quote: cclub79Just a question...in this game, the players are playing against each other and NOT the house, correct? There can only be one winner per deal? And I'm assuming you win more if there are more players? I think this would be more likely to appear in the poker room than in the table games area, just because of the player vs. player aspect and that all players must bet the same amount. I think the fact that it would be in the poker room would scare away just as many people as would be afriad of a regular poker table.
Yes, player vs player. No total reason it would *have* to be in the poker room unless there is a gaming law I don't know about. Yes, one win per deal excluding chops. Yes, bet same amount.
I'd put it outside the poker room as putting it inside would not attract new players. Again the attraction is the limited bets and no fear of being raised, etc.
I think most people that play their first table game look for something that is simple and that they recognize. We obviously have a lot of table game players on here, maybe a good question would be, What was the first table game you ever played? I would bet for most people it was blackjack. It was for me. "All those other weird games? First like me get comfortable with something I know, and then I can try something that's different."
Quote: cclub79I also not aware if there is a player vs. player rule, but it would be interesting to see. I just have an odd feeling that they don't want p vs. p out in main casino. I don't think they even like it in the poker room, as many poker rooms were closing down before ESPN decided to play up the WSOP in 2003. Even in your simple setup, there's opportunities for collusion and taking advantage of new players, which I think would frighten the same people that are scared of other tables.

I can see where a poker room can be hard to keep profitable but I blame the casinos for that. If it isn't a machine they seem to be trying to get rid of it.
I don't see where there would be possible player collusion in mine. All cards would be dealt face up (sorry if I didn't mention that) so everyone would hae all the information.
First table game I played was roulette. Yes, I was young and dumb.
Does the Big Six (aka Wheel Of Fortune) count? I didn't play it long - stupid game. I then moved to Roulette. Similar principle, and equally stupid.
Yeah, the first game I got serious on was BlackJack.
I wonder if War had been in the mix if I had seen it back then?
