I had an idea about roulette last night as I was going to bed. I tried a similar method last time I went to the boats(Shreveport). I was doing well and was proud of myself thinking I had found a way to beat the table. I was betting strictly red. I bet the minimum($5) on red and every time won I repeated the bet and doubled it everytime I lost. As soon as I had a winning roll I would go back to the minimum bet. We had went down there for a concert(Dwight Yokam..shoot me in the face boring, but the wife loves him.) and did not really have much of a bankroll for gambling. With only starting with about 75 dollars I was soon up to over 300. I figured to lose my bankroll the wheel would have to hit 5 blacks in a row. Well that does happen, and I left with nothing. But it was working for a better part of the night. So I knew my method was not full proof, but gave me a chance of winning some money. Last night I wondered if I used the same method of betting, but alternated each bet between black and red. That would keep me from losing my backroll when black or red hit a streak. If the table miniums were 5 dollars and you took 315 dollars it would give you six spins of the wheel to lose all your money. 5,10,20,40,80,160 dollars on consecutive losses. I ussually play roulette when I go to shreveport. I have never won a lot, but have at leat broke even or come out a little ahead. I know anything is possible, but it seems to me that the chances of the the ball landing perfectly on red then black 6 time in a row is very slim. So in conclusion I was just wondering if this a crazy idea or does anyone think it might work? Sorry if this was a little spastic, I tend to be a little scatterbrained when I try to type something..
Thanks,
Kyle

Save yourself the money - it won't work. If you want to know why, just look at any other thread on these forums regarding betting systems. Better yet, take a look at the wizardofodds.com for an explanation why betting systems like yours are worthless.
If you like roulette, play it, just stick to the minimum bet.

I think betting on a color in roulette is the second worst bet in a casino. You get paid even money, and there's over a 5% house edge.
My vote for worst bet is on the $1 on Big 6.
At least on some of the high house edge craps bets, you get paid a decent amount.
Anyone have any other candidates for worst bets in a casino?

Anything past $0.00 on Keno. Even free play is wasted on it.

Kyle,
While it is unlikely that you will walk up to a table and the next 6 spins will be black, the probability is 50% that out of the next 68 spins you will have at least one streak of 6 blacks. In 68 spins you probably will not have doubled your money.
People remember what happened in the past, but the steel ball has no memory. It is not influenced by past events.
Casinos have been exploiting this bias for centuries.

On my annual trip to Vegas trip I always make one "last bet" before I leave...
This year, I played (mostly blackjack and craps) in 28 casinos and was down a little bit going to our last casino. The last night in the Golden Nugget I had too much to drink, lost too much and had a great time. During the cab ride back to Bally's I took $50 out of my wallet, put it in my shirt pocket and decided that I would walk in and make the "last bet".
Timing being everything, I walked ahead of my group into the casino, put $50 on #22 (both of my kids' birthdates) and it hit.
Cashed in my chips and went to bed almost even for the trip.
That's my roulette idea!
