I just received the new book by Michael J. Musante today entitled: PAI GOW TILES - HOW TO PLAY, SCORE. AND WIN...it is a realy good read so far, I highly recommend it...Does anybody else have any opinions on it? I never could get the original book especially now since it sells for $200-$300...OUCH!!! According to reviewers of the book, it expands and elaborates on what the original book left off and the graphics/artwork is a lot better!!! Anybody have any input...especially on getting the original book by Musante at a cheaper price! LOL!

I just got it today. I'll let you know my thoughts as soon as I have a chance to read it. It is not a large book, and has lots of pictures of tiles, so it should be a quick read.

Thanks for the heads up, I bought it on Amazon, and I bought a set of tiles as well, figuring that being able to touch them will help me learn the game. I like learning new things, this will be fun.

It is a good book for the raw beginner. Pretty much all the material you can find on my site, but sometimes it is nice to have it in book form.

I figure I've played about 10 sessions in Vegas and AC, and set my hands properly according to the simple strategy about 80-90% of the time. Do you think it would it be helpful for me?

Hope no one minds I bumped this old thread, but I have a question about this book.

I have the 1980 edition. How much different is the updated version? Is it worth getting? I'll probably get it anyway, but I was just curious as to some of the major differences.

The original isn't worth nearly as much money now. I've seen it sell for as little as 50 cents! Should have sold mine when it was worth a mint....haha

The new version is pretty different. It adds a lot of flavour, corrections, plus a dynamite chapter on how to memorize the tiles. If you spring for it, I think you'll be happy.

Oh no. I had wanted to learn Tiles and to brush-up on my Blackjack. Now I find I may be at Hard Rock Tampa tonight and its too late to review much less actually learn anything.

Whew ! Sure glad the casino trip fell through; it would have been embarrassing to sit down at a Tiles table and ask 'What's trump'.
