Quote: UCivanLucky Ladies has very high house edge (Wizard of odds) compared to Lucky Lucky (same link). I have seen both side bets in same casinos. In the casinos you play, how do you see Lucky Ladies? Gamblers still play? what is going on?
I'll cover this in my blog when I finish it, but in Tunica, Lucky Ladies (which was in about half the casinos) is only remaining heavily in Gold Strike. They've all been replaced by 21+3 or regular tables without a side bet.
Looking forward to it.Quote: TiltpoulI'll cover this in my blog when I finish it, but in Tunica, Lucky Ladies (which was in about half the casinos) is only remaining heavily in Gold Strike. They've all been replaced by 21+3 or regular tables without a side bet.

The only BJ side bet that I see that CONSISTENTLY gets action is 21+3. The 9-1 payout hits frequently enough to entice players and it allows bad hands like 15 and 16 to still have a chance to win. In the Midwest casinos that have the bet, it usually gets more play than the main bet.
In Detroit, their version of Pair Square (not the Vegas style version) gets a lot of action, especially at MGM Grand Detroit. When I was up there, I was chastised for not playing it, when my hand got a couple perfect perfects.
Spanish 21's Match the Dealer also gets a lot of action as well. But that's an entirely different game...
It's interesting, one Vegas dealer told me the reason why "21+3 has a hard time to make it to Vegas": "21 is blackjack" and "3" is "poker". Dealers have a hard time to mix these two concepts in one hand. This dealer has 32 years experience. Sounds logical, but is that the case?Quote: TiltpoulThe only BJ side bet that I see that CONSISTENTLY gets action is 21+3. Quote: IbeatyouracesI can vouch for that although its called Perfect Pairs. The ploppies just love that 30-1 payoff.

I don't believe that. I believe the reason a supervisor told me in Detroit... "It's hold is too low (in other words, the house edge) and if people will play a higher house edge anyways, just offer that."
Basically, a sucker is born every minute, and the sucker bets appeal to those people. I don't play any of them, except 21+3. By the way, the 3-card poker bet is still close to a 3% house edge, which is still high, but Lucky Ladies is 20%, so you can have 1/6 of the play and still make the same amount of money.
