On the craps survey, Casino Royale has a special note saying that you can bet 20x [on bets under $5]. I have never seen a casino in Vegas or in the Indian casinos up around Seattle that have a minimum below $5. I'm wondering if there's a list somewhere, or if someone can just tell me casinos in Vegas (around the strip) that also have pass line bets under $5.

As far as Vegas goes, the huge mega properties just wont ever be going even to 5 much less below 5. There might be a chance at NYNY or Stratosphere but even then its unlikely and would probably be weekday mornings only, not evenings or weekends. You would have to venture downtown or out to the outlying locals casinos such as Silverton or Jokers Wild. If you are on the strip, its Casino Royale. Casino Royale can have a really jammed up atmosphere and you just might find a more pleasant time spending your tuition money away from the strip. Good luck.

Tuscany, which is just off strip down Flamingo (not towards the Rio and Palms - the other way) had $3 craps in off peak early morning hours. The Westin, right around the same block offered it as well. I believe slots-a-fun may have had $3 craps (near Circus Circus). That's all I can recall offhand. Sorry I can't tell you their odds, but at best I think they were normal (probably 3x-4x-5x).
Also remember that the difference between $3 and $5 is not that much. You stand to give up an extra $3 of edge if you make 100 pass line bets an hour. I realize that's not nothing, but don't beat yourself up over it.
I thought you said you are a college student. Am I that out of touch that today's college students don't know the term "All nighter" ?Quote: ahiromu...the only way I would be up that early(late) is if I was playing through the night... which unfortunately is quite improbable.
But seriously, in Vegas, you have to go off strip. You MAY find the limits you're looking for on or near Freemont St. But off strip doesn't need to mean going far off strip. In some cases you can find what you're looking for within a 15 minute walk or within a $20 cab fare. Or a bus ride (the bus system in Vegas is excellent).

Generally speaking you are better off staying downtown Las Vegas. Several casinos offer 5X 10X and 20X times odds. Usually late at night the casinos reduce the minimum on one of their tables to $3. Sometimes at 3AM Binion's even goes down to $1 minimum with 5X odds ($6 for 5 and 9 point). With $1 at 5X odds they pretty much expect you to go for maximum action where you play every single roll of the dice on the pass line or "come" bet. Assuming 100 rolls per hour you will be betting over $600 an hour, but almost all of it will be free odds.

Book a Tower room at El Cortez . The rooms are large and clean with a great view of the strip. The pavilion rooms and the vintage rooms are kind of crappy. You can play and drink in the casino for cheap. The are two clubs, the beauty Bar and Don't tell Mama on Fremont street that you will like. Look for craps games at unusual hours, and you will find some $3 10X odds games. Main Street Casino and The Stratosphere regularly offer 20X odds but usually at a $5 minimum. Eastside Cannery is about 6miles down Fremont Street/Boulder Highway and can be reached by bus. The Wynn is about 4 miles away and can also be reached by bus.
Same with the El Cortez. It's just hit and miss. The Slots A Fun rarely even opens their table anymore.
You can bankroll a $3 dollar game with $150 bucks, $250 for the $5 dollar game to do it right.
From what I've read, you'll need about 50X the bet minimum to withstand the variance, and get some bets out there if the table gets hot.
Your idea on the house edge holds merit, however on a short bankroll you are far more likely to lose.
Better to play the lower limit on the line, and bet the free odds.
I know some casinos had signs up about 3.00 craps and for almost a year the Palace in Biloxi has been advertising their 3.00 craps Mon-Thur, but I think its largely a psychological difference between 3.00 and 5.00.Quote: BenJamminYou can bankroll a $3 dollar game with $150 bucks, $250 for the $5 dollar game to do it right.

I'd sure not think a 20.00 cab ride to get to a 3.00 table would be worth it.
Playing a nice tight well-disciplined game at 5.00 is better than treking somewhere for a 3.00 game and having been distracted by the search for the lower limit table.
Right know-how? Not too tricky.Quote: sevenshooterWith the right know-how, any table can be turned into a $1 minimum game.
$10 table? Bet $11 on pass and $10 on don't pass.
Instant $1 table - as long as there are no 12s on the come out.
(Or vice-versa)
So on a hundred come out rolls your expected loss is $29.19. If you were actually betting $1 minimums for a hundred come out rolls your expected loss is $1.41 . The two situations hardly seem equivalent. By my calculations if you play every pass line and every "come bet" with $1 minimum and 5X odds that about $1000 an hour with expected loss of only about $2. You can't do much better than that.

Well if you are betting $3 with 5X or 10X free odds, I would say that you have to have a much bigger bankroll than $150.
