I would think it was due to many dealers' errors - not pushing 22. Well, perhaps high roller APs (?) are the problem.Quote: SwitchGood guess - a high roller, at a previous casino where the manager worked, had 2 or 3 big wins on the game and so the hold % took a nosedive.

Yes I've had a few games like that and once suspected so when the other player stood on 12 vs 6, exchanged knowing glances, I nodded that I understood why! I stayed at flat bets while he merely added to his bet after each win - a smart way in hindsight that I should have copied as it's not very suspicious.
One reason it might be less popular, except Aspers, is that trial games I have seen are usually played for fun on weekends and not unreasonably the bets tend to be for the minimum. (I have heard stories about some high rollers around, but personally haven't seen them except in Swansea). So whatever the game, unless it really takes off, the other table games make more money for the casino.
I am amazed how unintelligent some gamblers are, whether it's understanding a rule or not knowing something that seems obvious. One advantage of 3-card is it is very simple to understand for weekend players, play or fold, and there's a roulette type bet (Pair-plus) where the player has no decision. Also someone making bad decisions is not ridiculed or affects others (as would happen in Blackjack), so every player can just enjoy their game in peace.
I enjoy Switch and find it's a great game, but fear it will migrate to a few casinos who either like it or have a few high rollers. Personally I think it's good marketing for a casino to have trial games that make theirs different from their neighbours - but sometimes they only see the bottom line that an established game makes more visible money.

Switch is well played here in MN. I can hardly ever get on the game at Canterbury Park or Running Aces (though, I haven't been to the latter in some time...).

It's a good point Charlie - casinos expectations should really be lower (drop wise) then the regular Blackjack game. Unfortunately, in the UK, table game space is limited so unless the game drops well it's likely to be replaced or, at best, used as a weekend game.
Incidentally, I'm launching yet another new Blackjack variation in the UK this month starting with 4 casinos - at least I'm persistent :-). Watch this space ...

Hi Buzz,
Good timing, the game goes live tonight in the UK at one casino. It then goes into 3 Grosvenor Casinos at the weekend.
I'm in Vegas now so I'm hoping to pick up a location that will field trial the game here.

Switch, aren't you in SMI's team now? Let SM find you a location, so U don;t have to travel that much. I thought SM has to set up everything for you, including getting a field trial site.Quote: SwitchI'm in Vegas now so I'm hoping to pick up a location that will field trial the game here.

Looking forward to trying it out - do you know where it will be trialled (I'm guessing Birmingham is one of them).Quote: Switch...game goes live tonight...then goes into 3 Grosvenor Casinos at the weekend...
