The latest video from the Table Game Protection and Table Games Conference is Lucky Pairs. Please enjoy my video.

Direct: https://youtu.be/LDz8CE2Rjf4

The question for the poll is would you play Lucky Pairs?

Feels very "slow", with very little player interaction.

It was mentioned that it's played with a single deck. Is it reshuffled after every hand? If so, that would also seem to slow it down. If not, that seems like a strong opportunity for counting both against the prop bet as well as the main game.

Error in the video:

In this video, when the player has a single joker in his hand the sidebet is said to pay 9 to 1, and then dealer says "you win $45." This clearly establishes that the sidebet wager of one red chip is $5. Later, when the player has a Joker-Joker on the last hand, the dealer says that he wins the jackpot on the sidebet, which "pays 250 to 1." The sidebet is still $5 and the dealer says that the payout is "two and a half thousand." LOL, he then overpays the sidebet by $1250!

Assuming:
- Ace is counted as an "11."
- Pairs are defined as they are in poker, i.e., J-J is a pair but J-K is not a pair:

I calculate:

10-2 or 9-3: Player EV = -1.00226
8-4 or 7-5: Player EV = - 0.97511

So, yes, technically a 12 should, on average be raised. However, a 10-2 or 9-3 should be folded.

Here are the calcuated EVs when player has a 13:
A-2: Player EV = -0.99321
T-3: Player EV = -1.00226
9-4; 8-5 or 7-4: Player EV = -0.96606

When Player has an 11:
9,2 or 8,3: Player EV = -1.00226
7-4: Player EV = -0.98416
6-5: Player EV = -0.97511

In general: I find that

With a player hand total that is 13 or less, FOLD if you have a 2 or 3 in your hand, otherwise Raise.

I was wondering about that too and silently hoping nobody would catch it. I'm not sure if he quoted the odds incorrectly or made a payment error. Probably the latter. I think I'll just footnote it in the video description.

lol, I just assumed he was not a real dealer, just the guy demonstrating the game and he made a math error in his head. No actual money changed hands. I also suspect he was from Australia because his phrase "two and a half thousand chips" is not US vernacular.
