I just noticed a flashing dealer on the UTH table during my last visit. sometimes I would see one flop card and one of her hole cards. I would say she flashes 1 out of every 3 hands or so. How much is this worth in EV assuming she's dealing 30 hands per hour? If this is +ev, how much antes should I bring to take advantage of this? Also, if anyone knows where to buy grosjean's beyond counting book for holecarding uth that'll be great.

My source says 1 dealer HC is about +13.5% in EV. Not sure how much it changes being a 1n1 game. Without HC info the game is 2.2% HE, I reckon. So overall you'd be getting about a 3% advantage, assuming you get HC info 1/3 of the time. Then toss in mistakes (ie: Innacurate reads)......and probably not worth much, if anything at all.

I'd be careful.

As far as antes, I have no idea. The more the better though, IMO.

Heck, I know where a whole crew flashes uth every hand. One guy even snap twirls all the hands including his one and the board. And the casino doesn't seem to care, at least that crew.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I meant one hole card and one flop card. I read that this is a 20% edge for the players. do you Suppose a 1000 ante bankroll to be enough?

I already saw that page lol.

Lol?

Quote:

You read my page and you couldn't multiply 30 x (1/3) x 13% x betSize ???

I suppose it would be much tougher to consider all three cases by doing this computation separately for 22% and 26% instead of just 13%.

And then the really tricky part, sure to confuse all but the hardiest of mathematicians, will be to add in the 2/3 of the hands where you play basic strategy --

30 x (2/3) x (-2.2%) x betSize.

Maybe I'm asking too much of the average reader, expecting them to be able to add and multiply. What do I know? At any rate, Grosjean's book is much denser and harder to read than my own work, so good luck with that when you get a copy. You will need CAA, by the way, not Beyond Counting.

The following has nothing to do with your post:

I am sincerely sorry I was actually trying to ask how much I should bring to the tables and where to get grosjean's book. IDK why I even wrote EV calculations. Too tired and prolly went on auto pilot.

His book is usually only found on eBay and you'll pay hefty for it. I'd say bring at least minimum of 200x your ante bet size. You'll make many 4x aggressive bets that normally go against BS.

I completely agree! I think Mike should have a list on this site of the reputable APs here who will accept PMs. I am sure Mike knows the list, as do I if he wants a second opinion.

I don't know why I am in a pissy mood, sorry for this shot, but your post does beg the question :)

I despise when this is the best game available. Game speed is brutal, not at all uncommon to find sub 20 hand/hour dealers, and variance is brutal as well. Other than thst virtually zero cover is needed/difficulty of detection, this game really objectively isn't any better or worse than counting. Add in time spent scouting etc and it is worse if it is a primary focus, IMHO.

After I figured out how his gang was hacking my old site cardcounter.com and blocked him, he had his guys post a note on my office door at UCSB that read "Greetings from the LVHCM." Five minutes after I opened it and read it, I got an email saying "we just saw you open the letter."

Non-optimal strategy, playing mistakes, reading mistakes, possible cover plays and only 33% of hands give information? I'll put you at 0-2% edge.

I think this is a great thread so far. I was curious if anyone would have a ballpark N0 number of rounds for a marginal game such as this for a $50 unit played on the ante and blind. Anyone with a guess?

Whatever a sim says on this, it's wrong. The sim is going to assume that all ranks are identified at the same rate, the truth is some of the most valuable cards to indentify are the most difficult to. If anyone played only these games they'd inevitably lose their bankroll, I have no doubt it's -EV accounting for a few inevitable errors playing garbage games. Plus there's zero chance it's worth the exposure.

Glad to see you admit you were pretty rough on the guy there. Since you were, I will take you to task as well, for you to demonstrate you used the expression "beg the question" correctly.

"begs the question" does not mean "raises the question". I've looked into it and the expression appears to be a bad translation from the Latin, compounded by the fact that the word 'question' had a different meaning centuries ago, here probably meaning a "philosophical or theological problem" or "utterance meant to elicit an answer or discussion". see link.

Still with me? LOL

Used correctly, it is an objection to someone's circular argument. Google it and all sorts of pages come up.

Well, it's a pet peeve of mine to see it used incorrectly and you see such misuse all over the place and often by very educated people. Basically it becomes a 'wince' to hear it used, and I would say that is true even if it is used correctly since that is just showing off!

Perhaps you can show you used it correctly, in any case admitting you were 'pissy' allowed me to think I can be as well LOL.

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=question

PS: I am ashamed now to use LOL since I just saw the link you provided. However, I have always struggled to find something that doesn't make me look like I am 12 years old. Haha somehow doesn't cut it. It's a problem, as I do see that an emoticon can be useful. I hate those things though. I used to use <g> but have been told nobody knows what that means anymore. I perhaps am going to try even though no one will know what it means

Thank you for the response Mcallister3200. I have been having many doubts about how good the game really is taking into consideration all the nebulous factors that come up during live play such as mis-reads, cover, etc. And thank you Hunterhill for your validation.
