I'm going on a cruise. I have a free drink card.
Whats a low-edge mindless game to play when heavily buzzed?

Paigow?
40% of the time it's a tie.
just flip over your cards and let the dealer arrange them?

Banker in baccarat?
you have no options. dealer does everything automatically.
Craps is paradise (Pair of dice). Lets hear it for the SpeedCount Mathletes :)

I don't know the rules about Paigow in western casinos but traditionally if you mixed up the hi and low hand you lose your hand automatically. So I guess it's not the game to play when you are drunk.

Do you find craps interesting if you just bet the PL with no odds? That'd be slow to resolve and relatively cheap.

If I ran a cruise ship casino, I wouldn't offer pai gow poker. It's not popular enough to put my dealers through training on procedure and houseways. But, if this one does have it, that'd be another good choice. Just be super super sure that your 5 card hand is better than the 2 card hand. Probably, the dealer will help with that if you let them know in advance about that need.

well, my thought was to let the dealer arrange EVERY hand since I have no idea how to play it.

as for my interest in craps, look at my user name and/or my signature. :)

but no go on drunk craps on a cruise. I want to sit since the ship rocks due to the waves

Unless you're traveling thru a storm (and they'll do their best to go around storms if possible), modern cruise ships do not rock - or at least rock so little that you can hardly notice it.

Or are you talking about a casino cruise day ship? They tend to be smaller and older, with less anti-rocking technology. But still, I gotta think that they don't rock that much.

I have cruised on Carnival, Princess, and Norwegian. I have never seen Pai Gow Poker offered on them. For gambling and drinking, you should probably play Craps with full odds (usually 2x).

No Pai Gow or Bacarrat on cruises. Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Let it Ride, probably UTH, roulette and maybe craps.

Wow. First one I've heard of. Longer cruise? I've been on 1/2 dozen shorter ones and never seen it.

Norwegian Epic has 2 PaiGow tables; one in a smoking pit, the other non-smoking. No bonus/sidebets. They also had LIR, 2-UTH, 2-3CP, 2-Roulette, Craps, Spanish 21, and a lot of BJ. BJ tournaments every day. 4 Poker tables. The other game was mini-bacc (edit). This was May 2013.

If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

The Norwegian Star had a lineup similar to what babs said back in March or so. No Spanish 21, i think though.

I personally play PGP for the express purpose of getting drunk. For a given bankroll it has a very good chance of not busting out. I find it a good warmup game to milk the drinks for 1-2 hours with high probability of money remaining for other games.

Also depends on your time availability for all gambling in a day. You're unlikely to double or triple your money over just a couple hours. So if you want a sprint, don't do it. If you want a marathon, go for it.

As for not knowing the strategy, just take 30-60 min playing the wizard's simulator with correction. You could even do this while drinking if you want a "realistic" practice. :D You'll be solid on 90% of the hands you see from there forward. And for the tough choices like two pair, ask the dealer to set the house way.

I find that cruise ship dealers are surprisingly good. In the four cruises I've taken I have never seen a pai gow poker table. On Norwegian the drink service was awful in the casino. The dealer had to fill out a comp sheet for every single drink and get it signed by a supervisor.

I am going on Norwegian.
as a Caesar's Diamond, I get 20% off a cruise AND a drink card (only good for the casino bar).

I'm buying the cruise, and not from an free cruise offer.

I'd think that having the dealer set your hand house way would slow down the game enough to make up for the slightly increased house edge due to suboptimal strategy (which is only 0.2%). In other words, you have a lower expected loss over a fixed timeframe by letting the dealer do the extra work. So drink up!

Casinos at Sea is their players' club. If you get signed up with them and play rated, you should start receiving offers directly from NCL for free cruises. I don't know what they offered you for post-booking incentives, but last time I bought 40 free play for 20 in advance of sailing, both for the slots/vp and for the tables, and they were easy to redeem. You just printed them out from home and redeemed them at the cage. You might call the contact number in the link and ask about getting signed up in advance of your cruise, see if there are any incentives they might offer.

If you're playing tables, you'll need to run a ridiculous amount; based on reports by other people and the numbers I experienced, you'll have to have a total, er, coin-in past six digits before you'll qualify for much of anything. 50$/hand BJ for several hours a day, for a week, net me a touch under 10$ in points and a surprised reaction from the desk that a flea would even try to ask for anything.
