I think we should all welcome Bacc79
I gamble for the thrill of the win and the agony of the loss
I gamble for comps
I gamble for the atmosphere that surrounds me when I am in Vegas
Merely because Bacc79 is not a mathematician or AP (neither am I), does not mean he should be ostracized.
This forum should not become an AP v. vacation gamblers site.
If that is the case, persons such as Bacc79 and I should merely find a casual Vegas site with a gambling sub-forum and run over there.
Although I am not an AP or mathematician, I believe I contribute mightily to this board and welcome Bacc79's "almost a whale" stories that are sure to come

Lighten up. At least have some fun with it.
Another twenty or so thousand posts of yours from now - if you and this site are still around - a lot of people including you may be wondering why the heck they wasted so much time with so little to do about nothing. After all, no one has really beaten anything to do with gambling. Least of all the casinos. And, you can't get the time back to do other things.
With all the divide and conquer, so-called AP maneuvering, what's remarkable is that some people are able to quietly remove themselves from anything anymore. Quitting a forum is a good precursor to quitting other stuff like gambling if that's what you want or need.
I also didn't mention the Higgs Boson. Your point?Quote: aceofspadesYes, but you did not mention Kelly in your original post

Tell it once again I try to have a conversation and you act like a jackass
(Per Mission146's statement of long ago, analogies like this are allowable as I am not calling a forum member a jackass but equating his actions thereto)
Anyway---it's meaningless as I am about to do something to get suspended
TELIOT YOU ARE HEREBY BLOCKED
I've blocked plenty of people, but I don't go out of my way to tell them. If you don't like me, just don't engage with me. It was your choice to go after me in this thread by your weak attempt to find something wrong with my posts. That you didn't like my replies says more about you than me.Quote: aceofspadesTell it once again I try to have a conversation and you act like a jackass

By the way, I went back through my posts in this thread and I have no idea where "Kelly" was even remotely appropriate to reference in one of my previous posts.
Finally, if I may put in a good word for AoS to the moderators: I don't mind being called a jackass.

I agree with all of this, but I don't think anyone is ostracizing anyone in the thread either. Primarily, this forum is composed of recreational gamblers who are or have a great opportunity to be more educated than the typical player. Most AP's also do so recreationally or part time by a factor of at least 10. I think most full time AP's back themselves into it either by just having little interest in other things they could succeed, or personality wise they may either prefer to or fit better working alone or in a small group.

+1. There is room on this board for people to have discussions without being run off it; y'all hammered Bacc79 long after he verified he was not pushing a system (see page 1 although I think he deleted it). I repeat, he was asked to discuss how he played; he wasn't advocating it for anybody else, and I think his horse got flogged right down to a donkey rug in the dust over it. He has the discipline to get up when he's winning, not overspend his BR, and enjoy his game, win or lose. This is not a sin, even on this board.
I've been beaten up in the past for being a recreational gambler, AoS has, others have, the latest being Bacc79, who by the way is NOT gr8 or anyone else who's been on here in my time. If Mike wanted a one-opinion board on this or anything, he'd have built one and have rules that enforced Mike-thought. But he didn't, and they don't. So I'm not too pleased that yet another interesting contributor has been driven off this board by this kind of hounding. If you're so keen to collectively teach better gaming, what's the point of alienating the prospective students?

Oh, he came here to learn something?
Seems to me he was secure in his beliefs and came to discuss them, not to study new methods.
Still, he'd be a welcome addition: the board needs lightning rods.

Oh please. He wasn't hammered, ostracized, beaten up or run off. He's got 539 posts in less than 2 months. He portrays a glamorous gambling style, with all the trappings, wagering thousands of dollars a hand. The truth about the game is pointed out by knowledgeable people and someone cries foul in typical shoot the messenger fashion. This site has always prided itself on having the information for people to become "informed gamblers". The truth isn't always pretty. The truth is that Baccaratfrom79 is not your typical player and that someone new to this forum should not expect his results.
Many people actually have been run off this forum. I call it the WOV welcome. I have voiced concerns over it many times only to have those concerns fall on deaf ears. I'm happy to hear that this is finally going to be addressed.
Baccaratfrom79 is a decent and interesting guy with a trove of life experiences and stories and I want him to keep posting. I have so many questions. Unless something is going on behind the scenes, I think it's premature to think that he's left us. He hasn't been gone 48 hours. Come on back, Baccaratfrom79. Chop, chop.
It'd be like me saying something like: I'm a great craps player. I can follow the trends and bet either with or against the table, depending on what my inner self believes, and I press my bets up when I'm winning. Even though I'm not playing with some "advantage", I've been winning at craps for the last 20 years, because of my knowledge, skill, and awareness in the game.
I think MR. I ♥ Miatas was confused what you said, I was in agreement with you.Quote: EvenBobThe math says when flipping a coin
I'll see heads 50% of the time in the
not very long run. Luck has zero to
do with it.
But... I don't know what your not very long run looks like, 1 flip , 200, 20,000 flips.
Flipping a fair coin is 50/50 no matter how many flips so of course luck has nothing to do with it it is what it is. Depending on how many flips you're talking about, you can run at 49 % for a long time, that 1% will eat you up, or you can hit 51% and win.
On 00 Roulette you're losing 5%, there's no betting system that will fade a 5% loss for very long especially betting even money bets.
IMO, there is plenty of room on this board for the OP. I just don't think his posts belong in the "Table Games" forum. Even though Baccarat is a table game, I think the spirit of the forum is more for carnival games. It was also getting a little frustrating that there were so many new threads about baccarat in that forum because that takes attention from the other threads.
I think the voodoo forum would be good for some of his posts and, as I suggested, a new bacc sub forum.
Somewhat off topic, but I agree that "ploppy" is a term that we should drop. The recreational gamblers that come to play, even the annoying ones, are what keep casinos operating. APs should learn to appreciate them. I see a lot of discussions about learning to tolerate downswings and not enough talk about learning to tolerate and even respect recreational players for what they are.

I went back today and re-read this thread. So ironic when one of the 'haters' (IMO) towards me posts such contradictory and obvious rubbish to make himself appear different than what he really is about.

The last post in this thread was March 14th. What possible reason would you have to return and post this? I think even the one or two supporters that you have left can see what you're up to. The mods should be taking a close look at this and see it for what it really is.
It's odd that you would choose a post where I complimented you to turn around and insult me.

Thanks doctor, I needed a good laugh! I shudder to think how much trouble the casinos will be in when more people get a hold of the 2-chop system. All the AP opportunities will dry up as casino after casino files for bankruptcy!

Bob's used to being insulted so I doubt that you'll get the response from him that you are trying to elicit. Don't they have a word for that? Nice to see you posting again. For a while there I thought your computer may have died in your arms.
Quote: odiousgambitI'm late to this thread
Bacc-79 is a unique poster IMO, as an author of them, fairly enjoyable to read; some insight into the world of a gambler who's willing to make big bets, get great comps ... evidently something quite below a whale, from what he has said. But vastly higher roller than myself
Teliot's objection was coming, I could see it. Previous attempts to get confirmation on whatever he believes he can do hadn't gotten much response. I see he is deleting posts now.
Is Teliot right that he simply should be squashed on a site like this? Do we have the civic duty to protect less educated readers?
I do not feel that burden, but perhaps it is admirable in someone who does. Not sure.
Don't remember seeing this response, explains a lot. When I try to analyze the whole board here, seeing how those so critical of someone has to audacity to post like at least 60 times ( such as 1BB) in my threads or like Kerbecket (almost 50 times in my threads) why don't/didn't they just block them if you don't have a liking for someone or feel interested in what I have to say or post?? Why the belittlement, the chastising, the humiliation and a 'hell bent' motivation to prevail?
And what blows me away, I actually had tears coming from my eyes I laughed so hard, a guy that writes a book and is harping it on here wants me banned, squashed, belittled and stepped on (the way I interpret it anyways) being I am so uneducated and stupid---one would think he would relish and laugh all the way to the bank by selling his book to someone like me, everyone I would recommend it to and thousand of others??? And if he comes off and says he didn't write it to make money, I would have to say that is an insane comeback.
God bless you all.
That is definitely the way you interpret it. I never requested you be banned/barred whatever. I never called you uneducated or stupid. I certainly did point out that your beliefs about baccarat that you repeatedly expressed (in now deleted posts) are nonsense and belonged in a different forum better suited for such fancy. You are one of millions of smart/educated people who somehow believe that the laws of the universe no longer apply once you enter a casino.Quote: Baccaratfrom79And what blows me away, I actually had tears coming from my eyes I laughed so hard, a guy that writes a book and is harping it on here wants me banned, squashed, belittled and stepped on (the way I interpret it anyways) being I am so uneducated and stupid---
More to the point, I never suggested you edit/redact your posts - yet you did just that while somehow alleging that you were asked to do so both directly and in PM's. Deleting posts is an act of violence against a board as it disrupts entire threads. It is a temper tantrum played out against an entire community. And so, it appears that you have returned to play the "victim" card once again. Why?
This is one of a very select few forums on the I'net where the majority of those who contribute are keenly educated about the science behind casino games. This is perhaps the only public I'net forum where top table games APs openly contribute about their own play. From both sides of the tables, there is solid content here. I am sure there are many who would appreciate your return here. So, why don't you just return without all the drama? Block me, 1BB, Kerkebet and others you don't like and be done with it. If you want everyone to respect you (and believe you), I suggest you don't join I'net message boards.
