Gila River Casinos in Arizona's meter is currently spinning at $547,000+ and counting. Just curious if when it hits, new world record?

It's linked amongst three properties and 9 tables.

Five aces has been hit about 7 times (to my recollection) since the 7 card.

Life changing dough for the person that hits it!

Is there a point where this progressive goes positive? Or are the odds of the top hand (I don't even know what that is, 7-card royal?) hitting so minuscule that even at 5, 6, $700K the progressive bet still carries a hefty house edge.

Here is the Wizard's page on Pai Pow Poker side bets. In the section about Progressive Pai Gow Poker, he gives the breakeven point as $102,680.24 for a $5 bet.

I've played at Gila River a few times this year. The table limit is almost always a $25 minimum. I've rarely seen it at $15, and then usually once there are a few players it gets bumped up to $25

From WoO...

" Progressive Pai Gow Poker." This is basic pai gow poker with an added $5 side bet.

The following table shows the return table based on a breakeven meter of 20536.05 bet units, which for a $5 bet is $102,680.24. The house edge at all other times is 11.5428% less 1.1242% for every $10,000 in the meter."

Thanks guys. You should have given me the LMGTFY treatment since I was too lazy to check WoO first :)

Wow, that's a lower breakeven than I would have expected! Most pros probably not interested in it though, due to the extreme variance.

Which progressive Pai Gow are we talking about here? If we're talking about Fortune Pai Gow Progressive, the break-even point is $679,171.90 for version 1, and $243,011.06 for version 2. Version 1 pays out the 100% for a natural 7-card, and version 2 pays out 100% for any 7-card.

It's version 2. The progressive is awarded for any 7-card straight flush with or without the joker.

It's a little over twice the break even point.

At 34 hands per hour, it would take an average of 2 years, 3 months, 6 days, 16 hours, 47 minutes, and 54 seconds of non-stop play to hit the jackpot.

I was recently at Silver Legacy in Reno, and the progressive there was north of $228K for a $1 bet, but you have to also bet at least $1 on the Fortune bet.

So, at that rate of 34 hands per hour, and 6 spots per game, and 9 games in action on a Friday/Saturday night from about 8:00 to 1:00, prime time hours...... That's almost 9200 hands dealt during just that time on those two days.... lol

But seriously, the last progressive was hit about 18 months ago... so we should see another one in about 9 months! Should be north of 1.8 million by then! :)

I was at silver legacy on 6/14 around 8PM, played earlier in the day and wanting to return to try my luck again but a filipina lady got a 4,5,6,7,8,Joker,10,J of spades and the screen said jackpot pending. It was around 210k. Then later the progressive amount rolled back to 60's k.

A lady just hit the PGP progressive here at MGM Detroit for $285,000+. Natural royal + a pair of 4's. Tried to sneak a picture but was rebuffed.

Wow, that's all it took? I've actually had that hand (Royal + pair, no joker). Good for her!

Yep. Natural Royal + Pair or Five Aces + Pair wins the progressive there.

138 Ways to win?... still over 1million to 1. Either choice usually a JP... rather generous IMHO.

The Fortune Pai Gow Progressive at a local California joint is currently over $780k for a seven card straight flush. Is it worth concentrated play? Note that there is a $1 collection per hand. What's the break even with this penalty?

WoO shows two versions... One in Washington State with break-even at about 679K,
and one in other Casinos at about 243K. The Wizard comments that the latter has not been seen that high. See this page.

So lets figure its version 1. If I understand you correctly, the Game itself charges a $1 fee plus the 5% commission. To make it easy, I'll figure a $20 bet + $1 fee. That has about a 4.17% house advantage. The JP at 100% pay is $679,171.90. The game breaks even at 104.17% of the JP or about 708,777.54. From what I read, the JP is an AP.
