Quote: gamblerMany Las Vegas casinos will allow a player to be "grandfathered" in. However, there have been a few times where I have seen a player been asked to raise their bet to the new table minimum.
The standard policy in AC (where I've done the vast majority of my table gaming) is a warning sticker maybe 30 minutes before the increase, but once that increase happens, everyone is required to bet at the new level.
Connecticut Craps fans will also be pleased to know that Mohegan has dropped 3-4-5x for just 5x odds. I'm told it happened maybe about 4 weeks ago.
At the Sahara, mins were $3 on my last trip during the afternoon and early evening but they jumped it as soon as the table was about half full (all the way to $5!).
Walk away from the table without leaving your chips "covered" for a short break and you pay the new min when you get back.
Quote: DocI was playing craps at the Rio in April, when the wager minimum was increased. They grandfathered existing players at the old minimum but only until the dice progressed to the other end of the table. At that point, all players were required to meet the new higher minimum wager.
I know there has been discussion of it being worth more to the casino to have a table operate at higher minimums and not be full over having a full table of lower minimum players, but it seems to me they need to balance both out to maximize play. Maybe they could balance the odds or something to make the larger players head to the higher level table and also keep the lower rollers playing.
The reason I say that is because they lose their shot at my money when the limits go too high. I can play a higher dollar game, but I like being up on 3 points with $5 pass/come bets and $15-$25 odds. If I can't play that game in your casino, I take those dollars elsewhere.
On another note, the AC Hilton was offering a hand pitched double deck 3-2 game, which at a $15 min isn't half bad for AC. However, you could only double on 10 or 11 and split once. Only found that out when I tried to double on a soft hand against a dealer 6 :-( .
Quote: teddysSpeaking of mins. and odds, I heard Wild Wild West in Atlantic City has 100x odds now on craps. Can anybody confirm?
If a mailer is confirmation, I linked to this on a different thread:

Quote: silversonic2006Yeesh...I'm surprised an AC casino (and a Harrah's property at that) would offer 100X odds. Considering the kind of money that gets thrown around in AC on the weekends, that could result in some huge payouts. Even though the Casino Royale offers 100X odds in Vegas, I don't expect the kind of people that play there (myself included) are the kind willing to lay down $500 odds on a $5 bet. In fact, I think the highest value chip at their craps table was $500, and if people partook of the 100X odds rule often, they'd definitely have some higher denominations in there.
I believe it's only Wild Wild West, which has but one Craps table. It's usually only a $5 to $10 min, and they don't get the real serious gamblers usually.
Quote: likeplayingcrapsandbjWhile I played both MB and Paris honored me for 2 hours each being grandfathered in from $10 to $15 at craps. 4Q's did not they insisted I raised my bets and did Binions. Guess where I am not going back to.
at fitzgeralds downtown, i saw a very poor decision by the boxman. the table was full. it was a $5 table. this young girl was on a really hot roll. making two points and hitting a bunch of numbers. just about everyone around the table won money, then she sevened out. the boxman announced after the next shooter, hes changing it to a $10 table. and the players who were already there had to start betting $10 minimum.
everyone was complaining and he refused to budge so everyone colored up their chips and left. he ended up killing his own game. im sure after winning a bunch of money on that girls roll, they wouldve happily kept putting their money back into play. instead he angered them and everyone left.
