Was it ever brought back, or are cellphones now allowed (and if so, (a) are there any restrictions (e.g. certain kinds of apps are banned), and (b) can a casino ban phones in its sportsbook "on its own"?)
On a related topic, using cell phones while driving will become illegal in Nevada, I think effective 1/1/12.

I used to people on the bus carrying on a conversation by themselves. Now days you wonder if they have an ear bud. Not much has changed.
Can you use them while sitting down watching a game on the big screen? Can you use iPads and other tablets? Or laptops in a sportsbook?
Is the rule that you only can not use them while placing a bet?
Quote: gamblerJust to clarify, what is the exact rule regarding cell phone usage in Sportbooks?

I'm pretty sure at least one or two of the signs I've noticed proclaimed a general ban from the whole book without specification.
Whether that's changed, I don't know.
EDIT: I guess it has. heh,.
Quote: WizardNo, it was not brought back. The usual rule is you just can't use them at the window.

The cell phone while driving ban is going to drive me crazy. It goes into effect on Friday but just with warning tickets for now. Gonna have to go and buy a blue tooth I guess.

If you get pulled over, just swallow your phone. Hey, no evidence!

I never use a cell phone while driving, or try eating something either. Its amazing how much eating distracts you. But listening to the radio or talking to a person in the car doesn't. I wonder why.
Quote: NicksGamingStuffIf it is anything like the cell phone law in California it is not very well enforced. Just think of it as speeding, sometimes you get caught but most of the time you don't.
True, one more thing for them to pull you over for. Gotta be careful if I'm out drinking.

Listening to the radio or talking to someone in the car just don't have massive lobbies trying to pass laws to outlaw them. Cell phone bans are stupid. There are a million distracting things in cars. If we're really so concerned then let's remove all radios, tv's, etc. Maybe even have a cone of silence around the driver so you can't talk to passengers.

Various studies show that using a cell phone while driving is more distracting than having a conversation with a person who is there, or listening to the radio. Theories are to do with the point of interaction and the way the conscious mind works.
Cell phone grabbing, one handed drivers are driving without due care in the most part and should be pulled over for that reason anyways. Especially those doing it while driving around town and dodging pedestrians.

One of the methods of dealing with pain in burn centers is based on immersion with a device much like video gaming so that the mind is focused away from painful procedures..
Your conscious can only process so much information at one time. It's what helps good pick pockets be successful.
There's a study which involves people watching a basketball passing situation. Some people can watch that drill and miss a man in a gorilla suit who runs between the players because they are told to focus on how many passes are being made in a given period of time. (I'm paraphrasing somewhat on how it's done)
