Someone bet $250,000 on this weeks Thursday night game between the Eagles and Giants at MGM in Las Vegas. The bet was Eagles -3 at halftime.
With the Eagles leading 10-7 they lined up for a relatively short field goal of 37 yards that would have expanded their lead at halftime to 13-7 and made this bet a winner. The kick sailed wide left (and pretty badly if I remember correctly). So the bet was a push (better than a loss) but still the missed field goal cost the bettor $238,095 win (quarter million less vig).

I've had bets in the thousands hinge on field goals before (but not 250K, I must admit). Usually I pray the field goal is missed -- and usually my prayer is not not answered.

Well, at lease now my $120 not won on the Titan's missed FG has me not as upset. Well, still upset, but I guess could be worse.
