I agree with you 100% on all of those points, though maybe not as emphatically.

Keep in mind that screenshots would prove that picks were sent when both myself and the player in question (if any) are saying that they were sent, so ultimately, I don't think that there's any real argument that everyone's Picks being posted late should disqualify the entire week, or anything. Beyond that, there is something of a human element to the thing.

Anyway, if a player's set of Picks were ever challenged, they are provable. I keep all game-related PM's for a few weeks after the conclusion of the season, at a minimum.

That's why I kind of understand why you advocated for CBS Sports as a hosting place. The reason why I didn't like that is that I put together the game to benefit WoV Forum though, not CBS Sports, so if the human element ends up at play a little bit, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Although, another good rule suggestion for next year is maybe having to PM the Picks to two different people? It only takes five seconds to send a forward once you get used to doing it, I should know!

Understood all and didn’t mean to come across as too emphatic. I didn’t advocate to void the one week when Picks were posted after kickoff. Totally get it and life happens, etc. I more meant that if Picks were never meant to be posted until well into a game, then I just would have not have played.

Titans 19 @ Chargers 20: F Dean Spanos. The good news about this win was that the game was in London, so the, "Home," team probably had more of its fans turn out than if the game had been at StubHub Center.

Browns 23 @ Buccaneers 26: It's a shame because the Browns have such a good defense, Jameis Winston is so awful and the Dog Pound still lost in what should be Baker Mayfield's best game this year.

Texans 20 @ Jaguars 7: Jalen Ramsey: "It ain't no secret what's going on right now." A complete and total collapse. The Jaguars are reportedly in talks with the Bills to acquire Derek Anderson. Lions 32 @ Dolphins 21: Brock Osweiler played well again, let's do the time warp. Great football, long drives, almost no major mistakes. You honestly couldn't look better in an 11 point loss than the Dolphins did here, one turnover could have changed the game.

Saints 24 @ Ravens 23: They abducted Drew Brees five years ago and replaced him with a cyborg. They pull back the cyborg's hairline a little bit every year so nobody gets suspicious. Great game, rock solid effort by both teams.

Cowboys 17 @ Redskins 20: Huge Division implications in this one for both teams and Philly. Alex Smith didn't do much, but he did what Alex Smith usually does: Enough. Tough defensive struggle.

Rams 39 @ 49ers 10: Yup.

Bengals 10 @ Chiefs 45: They WERE your AFC North Division Leaders, and then this happened. Pittsburgh (for about a decade), Kansas City, Denver, the Manning Colts...it seems like the Patriots are the only kryptonite effective against Super Teams.

AND BECAUSE MY MONDAY NIGHT PREDICTIONS ARE ALWAYS DEAD WRONG, I'M FADING MYSELF:

Giants @ Falcons: We're going to see a renewed Eli Manning in this one as he connects with Odell Beckham for two touchdown strikes and Saquon Barkley punches in another pair. The Giants will DOMINATE and win running away against a weak Atlanta Defense. (I do not believe this at all)

I haven't seen Rosen play, but Darnold reminds me of how Peyton Manning played in his first year when he went 1-15 with a terrible team. Not claiming Darnold is guaranteed to turn into an elite quarterback, but he does have intelligence, poise, toughness and some physical skills. He ranks somewhere between Mahomes and Nate Peterman, but we don't know where.

Bills 5 @ Colts 37: It is amazing to me how many contestants picked the Bills, some with confidence picks. I picked the Colts and I thought it was one of the most obvious picks of the week. I must be reading different internet sites than the rest of you.

Texans 20 @ Jaguars 7: The wheels have come off the Blake Bortles express. What is hard to explain is why he has occasionally played so well in the recent past. And why CJ Bethard/ Ryan Fitzpatrick/ Brock Osweiler occasionally play so well. Is it bad coaching by the opposition? Drugs? Rapture caused by reading Mission146's vitriol? Science cannot yet explain.

Because Bill Belichick cheats better than anyone. And he hires guys that sneak into the Men's bathroom and deflate Tom Brady's balls. And he hires guys like Aaron Hernandez. This is a morality play. If Mahomes and Hill stay healthy, then saintly Andy Reid and the exciting Chiefs will go further in the playoffs than the syphilis-ravaged Belichick and his evil Pats .

That's the ticket, yeah that's what I'm doing. Missionbucks are even more worthless than Wizcoins though.

I really hate betting spreads, and this week showed why. Totals are less stressful to watch. If you bet the under, you're winning until the game ends or it goes over. If you bet the over, you'll be losing until it goes over. None of this well you were winning but now you aren't stuff with spread betting.

Well, let's not abandon the ship just yet ! We're not even to the half-way point of this game.

Just a bad week overall, it happens. If it were easy to pick winners ATS consistently, wouldn't you have big money in play at a sports book ?

Interesting to see the standings after this week to be so unbalanced, ie, 10 players > 0.500 but 22 players < 0.500, and a few right at 0.500, I don't think it means anything, it is just interesting.

AyeC: Also "interesting" that if you had made the opposite picks every week, you would be 30-11 for 0.732 in 2nd place just a little ways behind DJATC (0.771).

So I am at a 35% win rate. I do believe if you guys would bet the opposite of my picks each week you would be beating the crwp out of the sports books

I am a nothing when it comes to sports but I think it is actually low. I think -10 is about right.
They are playing at home (where they lost 2 times this year)
Browns are back to being browns.
Pit is coming off of a bye (why do they call it a bye?)
They were -3 when the running situation was unknown. Connor has played well so it is not an unknown anymore.

I didn't watch the game but saw the box score. Chiefs were blowing out the Bengals so there's really no incentive for them to put up scores. The Bengals for some reason couldn't put up more than 10, so there you go.

Bengals weren't gonna go for field goals being that behind, so they would have to score a td or turn it over on downs. Chiefs when they got the ball probably just ran out the clock on running plays.

Sometimes if you need half a point to 2 points the conditions have to be right for it to go over, such as a close game. I think I had giants and the points this week for a bet and they weren't covering unless they went for 2. Luckily the 2 points they needed put them down 3 against the Falcons, so they went for it.

A "bye" in cricket is when there a wild pitch (to use a baseball term) and the runner comes in for a score.

So a bye week was when you got to advance in the playoffs without doing anything.

Just never understood why they call an off week a bye. A bye in everything else is like you said, advancing without playing.

The term "bye" may hearken all the way back to dog racing. In the old days, when setting up a bracket for dog racing the most highly seeded dogs might get to skip the first round of races and advance automatically into the second round. But to make things fair, even the highly seeded dogs were made to run around the track once so as to tire them out as much as the dogs that ran a winning race in the 1st round. I think this mandatory lap was called a "bye," and over time became the basis for the current terms "bye week" and "got a bye in the first round."

Dog racing is almost obsolete now.

It could be a BUY week. I guarantee it's not a BI week.
