I'd bet floyd if the price was decent. I think people have seen too many movies where women cia agents beat up guys who look like linebackers. .

Reminds me a bit of college. My roommate was on the basketball team and we'd play 1 on 1. He would totally obliterate me every time but I got a lot better playing him.

His girlfriend was on the girl's team and she joined us 1 day. I'm not a good player so I thought a girl on a partial scholarship even at a division 64 school might be as good or better than me.

As it turned out, I could have played against her for ten years and she would never score a point.

It turns out women's bodies are very different than mens and they are just not very fast or very strong.

It would be a fascinating match up that would generate lots of discussion.

But the point isn't who would or wouldn't win.

Its that there are a lot of issues raised by a man punching a woman in the face for our entertainment. Especially a man with a history of domestic violence.

A lot of people in general seem to not understand that if you put a pure boxer on his back, then the majority of the time he's no longer a fighter at all. A lot of the boxers are SO GOOD because they only focus on 1 thing. McGreggors hands would be 1000x better if all he ever did was box, but he's not 1 dimensional, like almost every pro MMA fighter. All Rousey would have to do is constantly dive at his legs, even pulling guard by pulling him on top of her, and she would just TRASH him on the ground. Like, EMBARRASSINGLY trash him. Her game plan should and probably would be to not ever even throw 1 punch on her feet.

Eh, in 'fighting' since women are finally making a name for themselves in MMA I'd think "a majority" of people would be okay with it. Though you do bring up the point that about 1 billion memes would be made about Floyd and his domestic violence issues...

If she got him on his back, she'd very likely win. However, he has the footspeed of an elite athlete in the ring.

It's hard to say, but I'd guess she is about as fast as a random junior varsity basketball player. If anything, I think that's an over estimate. So, catching him would be an up hill battle.

Have you ever wrestled with a girlfriend?

One thing it makes me think of was a Bob Sapp fight. For those who are not Romes, Sapp was an NFL player who went into MMA and has arms the size of Floyd's whole body.

I remember some guy got Sapp on his back and set up the arm bar. The result was inevitable. However, the guy really had to work to straighten out that arm and it took a while. So, I think of that, and the fact that the disparity in strength is probably significantly greater between floyd and Ronda.

On paper, it's an interesting match up that would generate endless discussion from pundits and create tons of hype. Though, with Ronda losing lately, a lot of the lustor is gone.

As to the ethics of it. I am not a fighter in any sense. If, for some reason, I found myself fighting Ronda Rousy, and if I somehow had the opportunity, I don't think I could punch her in the face as hard as I can. She could give me a 20 minute lecture beforehand about how it was OK, but it wouldn't seem right to me. I think a lot of people feel that way.

Let's say Floyd does connect with 1 right hand. Fight's over. Ronda could very well be unconscious or have a broken nose or an eye swelling shut.

Is Floyd supposed to celebrate? Would people watching feel excited, or a little quesy?

Foot speed isn't exactly apples to apples when someone is literally "diving" at your shins in the Octagon. Ronda, like a professional boxer, knows how to cut the "ring" off to get in close enough to dive at his legs. He'd have to hit a perfect upper cut, which if he concentrated on doing that would ENSURE the take down if he doesn't her her good enough.

Quote: Rigondeaux

lol, have you? I've never dated a girl that did MMA/etc for the record, and some of the girls I've wrestled around or grappled with for fun were freakishly strong (wiry) when it came to wrestling... like I had to try a bit more than I ever told them =D.

Yeah, since she's basically exiting MMA I'd render the discussion a moot point I suppose.

Hell yeah he should celebrate. That woman is no joke. She would destroy 'probably' every single person on this forum. Beating her would be quite an accomplishment... IF it was in the Octagon. Again, I think the 'majority' of people would treat it like any other fight now days... with a bit more hype of course but I'm referring to the Man vs Woman aspect.

My take on the fight was that Floyd did exactly what he said he would do. Let Conner come strong and throw his big bombs and then after he tired he would take control. Conner won the first few rounds because Floyd let him. He just went defensive and let Conner tire out. Remember Floyd is one of the hardest fighters to hit....ever. Conner struggled to hit anything other than the gloves of Floyd and even after the fight Conner said he spent to much energy hitting Mayweathers gloves, trying to connect. It was a pro taking a student to school. A 40 year old tiring out a 29 year old.

Later in the fight Floyd just kept coming forward giving Conner no time to rest or regroup. The fight was stopped at the right time, before he got hurt.

Maybe they could have it in the smoking remains of Guam.

I still think, especially if floyd had time to prepare, the physical differences would be too much.

Certainly, there is some point where this is true. Like, Ronda would have no shot vs Anthony Joshua.

I'd probably even make her a dog to most pro athletes who didn't fight. Say, an NFL cornerback. Just as they would beat a 13 year old boy who was really good at basketball.

When someone is 3x stronger than you and so much quicker you can barely perceive their movement it's gonna be a struggle.

I've also had a surprising strong girlfriend. But she was a long way from being able to fight a man.

I guess it boils down to this.

A is much stronger and much much much faster and quicker than b.

A's task is to land one punch.

B's task is to catch A, flip him onto his back and apply an arm bar.

Give me A all day.

I will say Ronda would have more of a chance than a female boxer boxing a male mma star. I'd give the boxer almost no chance there.

Whatever we might think, I still think a majority are uncomfortable with a woman being knocked out by a man. This would at a lot to the hype/ discussion, but might hurt the profits.

It seems like Mayweather's quickness would be more applicable to boxing and not so much to UFC type fighting. He can dance around on his tippy toes and throw out jabs faster than lightning, but that's different than when someone is taking a shot on you.

I doubt Floyd is significantly stronger than Ronda, such that he's "so strong" she can't do anything, if he's even overall stronger than her. Boxing is more of a one dimensional sport while MMA is your entire body. I doubt Mayweather knows how to use his leverage and torque to the most of its potential. Even with training, that's not something you can fully grasp in a few months or a year.....at least for a regular person...since he'll have the best trainers and doing 2-3 workouts a day, he could probably get there a lot quicker.

If they were evenly matched, Mayweather weighing 15 pounds more than Rousey would be a significant advantage.

In high school wrestling, my friend and I both had similar builds and similar styles. We frequently went up against someone who was stronger and quicker than us. We frequently won because we knew more moves than our opponents, more counters, knew how to use our leverage and every part of a move (point your toe in for this, point it out for that, what to do if the guy has his hand/elbow/shoulder on the mat, etc.), and we were pretty good at scrambling. Our club coach knew it's not about who's stronger or quicker....but who's better. Most coaches would show a move and we'd drill it for 10-15 minutes then go on to a different move, our club coach would teach us a move, drill it for 10-15 minutes, then show a counter to it. Then a counter to the counter. Then a different counter, then a counter to that. Then we'd learn another very similar move, all the counters and their counters. You can't learn this stuff (the whole subset, not one thing specifically), perfect it, and feel 100% comfortable doing it in a live match, in just a matter of a few months.

Rousey's skill would make her a favorite against Floyd, even if he were stronger, quicker, etc.'er than her.

At least that's my opinion on it.

I would have never assumed you were a wrestler. My wrestling claim to fame is that I took a wrestling class taught by Dan Gable. I know I am much older than you but he was the king of wrestling before Cale Sanderson and John Smith.

...if you watch Cops, etc, they quite often say there are MANY MORE cases of the female abusing the male, but the males majorly do not report them out of embarrassment or fear.

I've never hit a woman in my life (outside of an mma gym) and don't intend to, but if a female CLOSED FIST punched me or tried to punch me... I'm pretty sure I would punch her back. It's 2017 and we're equals. Balling up a fist and punching is a whole other level of attack as opposed to an open hand slap, which is still an attack and women shouldn't do to men if men aren't supposed to do to women... but I digress form the regular conversation.

Of course women commit assault/domestic violence a ton and get away with it. That's just how it is. They generally don't have the ability to really hurt men, without a knife or something, so it's less important for them to learn self control on that front. And because of that, they know they can get away with it, etc.

But as a man, you get to scratch yourself in public. So it's a fair trade.

Again, not saying it's my plan to ever hit a woman... trying to think how I'd naturally react if someone (anyone) balled up a fist and swung at me. Also... I've trained for 10+ years sparing at not 100%. I'm quite confident if that particular scenario ever occurred she would not have to go to the hospital for a counter from me. A trained fighter can inflict all sorts of pain without leaving a mark.
Punching someone in the face is strictly an amateur move. The bones in one's hand vs the skull or chin isn't a fair contest.

Just coming back around after a whirlwind couple of days. Thank you to all the fans for the support of the fight and the event! Without your support we as fighters are nothing so I thank you all! Thank you to my team of coaches and training partners! I had an amazing team and It truly was an amazing and enjoyable camp, and honestly I feel with just a little change in certain areas of the prep, we could have built the engine for 12 full rounds under stress, and got the better result on the night. Getting to 12 rounds alone in practice was always the challenge in this camp. We started slowly getting to the 12 and decreasing the stress in the rounds the closer it got to 12. I think for the time we had, 10 weeks in camp, it had to be done this way. If I began with a loaded 12 rounds under much stress I would have only hit a brick wall and lost progress as a result and potentially not made the fight. A little more time and we could have made the 12 cleanly, while under more stress, and made it thru the later rounds in the actual fight. I feel every decision we made at each given time was the correct decision, and I am proud of everyone of my team for what we done in the short time that we done it. 30 minutes was the longest I have fought in a ring or cage or anywhere. Surpassing my previous time of 25 minutes. I am happy for the experience and happy to take all these great lessons with me and implement them into my camp going forward. Another day another lesson! Congrats to Floyd on a well fought match. Very experienced and methodical in his work. I wish him well in retirement. He is a heck of a boxer. His experience, his patience and his endurance won him this fight hands down. I always told him he was not a fighter but a boxer. But sharing the ring with him he is certainly a solid fighter. Strong in the clinch. Great understanding of frames and head position. He has some very strong tools he could bring into an MMA game for sure. Here is a toast of whiskey to everyone involved in this event and everyone who enjoyed it! Thank you to you all! Onto the next one!

have you guys heard the latest?

sly stallone, ROCKY, 71, is coming out of retirement.

he's challenged ric flair, THE NATURE BOY, 68, to a REAL match.

the match will be sanctioned by THE WORLD BOXING FEDERATION

flair accepted but was able to get THE FEDERATION to alter its rules and regulations

5 rounds will be fought IN A BOXING RING

then they will lower a steel cage onto the ring with their fabulous construction equipment

the last 5 rounds will be fought IN A STEEL CAGE

the match will take place in JANUARY OF 2019 to give both combatants ample time to train.

bovada is already accepting bets and has ROCKY at -500 to win and -300 against THE NATURE BOY ever lasting long enough to get into the cage

a bovada spokesperson has stated that thousands more bets are coming in on THE NATURE BOY creating a lopsided book and great value for those who want to bet on ROCKY

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
